Jol Gone. Probably. Again.

Discuss...
Harry's inundated and awash with the news that Jol has gone... Allen to be in charge for Blackburn. At the risk of being clever I had seen betting on Ramos collapse in the last 24 hrs, but this wasn't extravagant enough to suggest he'd actually got the job.
As I write, the depleted home crowd sing 'I love Martin Jol'.
Over half an hour to go.
But for who?

sorry, to add, what they've heard in the ground...

BMJ looks drained.

I bet we don't get into the top four in the next four years. I bet we'll be here again in two.

Bye bye martin Jol, I wish you could have been around longer.

So. we're 1-2 down, and I do not like what i'm seeing. Where the hell do we go from here?

Good luck MJ Thanks for the past 2 seasons!!!

No manager same crap players whats the point

If true then this is simply a continuation of the same old slipshod and crass way the Spurs board have first started and then handled this whole affair. Hardly surprising we're losing yet again !!APPALLING INEPTITUDE - I mean the board as well as the defence !!

Couldn't agree more... Ramos?

Forgive me, but who the F**k is Ramos?

Flush Jol....

But for JM!

Kemsley is in residence I see, H.

Worst Spurs team in 20 years!!!! Official.

That is why Jol is going, and not a moment too soon!!!

It probably took the last month to sort out severence deal for Jol, and comp for sevile for Ramos!!!

in the past losing a game that we were winning used to make me very very mad but its got to the point now that i have started laughing the way we concede goals.we got no defenders that ca defend and a goal keeper who is better at scoring goals than keeping them out

liked you at first martin jol now im glad to see the back off you

also another person who i would be glad to leave is chris houton.he is a big fat brown piece of turd dont no how he can call him self a couch

Anonymous said...

Goodbye and good luck Martin.
Real Spurs men dont come around often, and ultimately let down by a board who just wants to sell for a profit, a director of football who wants to see 10 right footed players in the team and who replaces Davids and Carrick with one of the worst midfielders we've ever had, and a % of fans who have no memory of before Jol took over (that's the nice way of putting it, personally I'd say they are a disgrace some of these fans who say such things like good riddance)

Chimbonda should never play for the club again after tonight. Absolute disgraceful performance from minute 1

The Telegraph ran an article in August at:

http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/premiership/article2881380.ece

saying:

"Tottenham delegation, including club secretary John Alexander, that met with Ramos were reassured that his level of English is sufficient for him to manage in England and, in addition, he has members of his backroom staff who can speak it fluently. They would also join him at White Hart Lane."

Not only bye, bye to Jol, but looks like also Chris Hughton (who has been with us sice around 1977).

Lets hope that Ramos is the real deal, who can make us a force in a short time.

But this will means getting rid of some sub standard players (Zokora, Jenas, Lee young, Huddlestone), and spending a lot more money in getting in much better players.

Anonymous said...

Lets look forward to Allen in charge til the of the season then!!!!!! Its gonna be a long one.....

Anonymous said...

All i can say is how sad is it that a man that dragged us up the premiership to our best finish ever twice in a row should be treated ( persecuted ) like this!!!!! Tactically inept maybe nice bloke Definitley!!!! Makes ya feel a bit worried what kind of nutters are running OUR CLUB......

CLOSURE!

REMEMBER; Jol was only supposed to be No. 2 coach to Santini so his time in charge should be viewed as a success. Both Spurs and Jol have benefitted from the past 3 years together so let's celebrate a mainly happy time, remember the thrills and get this season over and done with!

What ever happened to Dawson!!!! JOKE

You were a nice bloke MJ and I liked you. Unfortunatly though nice blokes don't win games.

I will miss you.

Ramo is due to arrive in the summer with Gus Poyet as his 2nd.

What do we do 'till then though?

Look on the bright side spuds,Sammy Lee and Glenn Roeder are both looking for a job.

Martin Jol's reactionary tactical changes nearly always upset me - why does he never make a tactical change in optimism, more than often we see him shoe-horning in a striker for a three pronged attack and taking iff a hard working Steed, rather than fixing the root of the problem which is usually a poor attacking central midfield. I think MJ has done a wonderful job for us, but the position really is untenable and it's time for both parties to move on. Good luck Martin, and let's hope we do see Gus Poyet in charge until Ramos joins.. We need our players to WANT TO IMPRESS again, that includes Dawson, Chimbo (woeful tonight) and even THUDD looked flat.

Anonymous said...

Oh by the way Harry, I got to the Newcastle game and it was terrible as you know and yes St James' was quiet no atmosphere at all.

Anonymous said...

Glad it's over.
Sad how it was done.
And sad to see him go cos he really seemed to care and is a decent guy even if his tactics and substitutions marred what he achieved.

Anonymous said...

Pity our lack of decisiveness will cost us Berbatov and European football next year.

but better late than ever.

Roll on next season.

Anonymous said...

To summarise, we had two very good seasons with a sub-standard manager that came in our club as a number 2, and that once the pressure and expectation rose after the first season his tactical ineptness and poor decision making got found out as time went on which ultimately conspired to him losing the respect of the playes and fans alike. A thoroughly nice chap, but in the end the only barometer can be team performances and results, and this season with the squad and resources at his disposal, the words that describe what we have seen so far this season are disjointed, disorganised, mismanaged and uninspired. Good luck wherever you go Mr Jol, we thank you for two seasons that brought a renewed hope to Spurs fans over the world, but it was plainly obvious to me from the moment we lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup that you didnt really have a clue.

Sorry if this is rude to post here, as a Gooner, but I feel that your board have treated Jol in a very shabby fashion, and that he deserved more.

I believe he's a good manager, and he'll prove it somewhere else.

It's a worrying trend in England - Boards trying to run football, buy players, and speak behind the very same manager they've appointed.

You're going to have a hard time, and how the team reacts with a stand-in manager for the rest of the season will be interesting to watch.

Mj to Ajax then!!!!!!!

well said surrey yid. took the words out of my brain and put them on paper perfectly...goodbye BMJ my good mate and all round good guy but ultimately i DEMAND success from my beloved team. I love spurs more than i will love BMJ

Bloody hell. More friendly Gooners.

Is it HH or our bottom 3 'please give generously' status?

I will resign if it's me.

I've been saying Jol out for a while now, but still sad to see him go. Decent bloke, brought us on bundles but ultimately took us as far as he could. So thanks BMJ for all you've done, good luck in your future; take it easy big man. Now, do we write this season off? I guess it depends on when Ramos (to be confirmed) starts.

The tragedy of this situation is not Jols departure but the fact that he wasnt replaced close season. As a result a season that promised so much has turned into a season of overwhelming disappointment. It has been painfully obvious for over two seasons that defensively and in midfield we have been woeful. We cannot defend leads or win the midfield in any match. We have had some very talented players going forward who have consistently scored goals but increasingly they have become isolated and exposed and their frustration leads to loss of form. These players feed off confidence and success and you only have to look at Berbatov to how this has affected him and to see what is going through his mind.

We did manage fifth spot twice but in each case it was a scramble and we lost vital matches when we were in front through a combination of poor tactics and poor defending.

It is the managers job along with the coaching staff to deal with these issues and the fact that Jol hasnt in my book says everything about why his departure is long overdue...

I just pray and hope that Ramos who seems to be the prime target delivers and quickly... we cannot afford another Santini debacle and the best we can really hope for this season is to secure European football for the club for next...

The Board to should look at themselves and the way they have conducted the affairs of this great club... the only saving grace is the fact that its their stock value that is taking a hit and rightly so..........

Stand up, for Martin Jol, stand up, for Martin Jol, stand up, for Martin Jol, stand up, for Martin Jol.
Hope you're all happy.
A part of Spurs died tonight.

Farewell Martin,

I wish you success in whatever you go on to. Whatever we manage to do from here on, we owe you big time for giving us the chance to do so. On your broad back, and yours alone, we achieved 5th place league positions and European tours. Our record profits were achievable because of your success, and it is these profits that will be the platform for future success.

This PR disaster is over. Let's sort this mess out, and let a new man put his stamp on our club.

Well done Martin.

It's just a shame you were undermined so greatly, and yet walk away with dignity.

After all the anger of another embarrassing clueless debacle of a display by a team that MJ can no longer control, am now very relieved but very sad at the same time.

Reason being as every punter has already said the man genuinely loved Spurs and did give us two good years making the world take notice again for the first time in 20 odd dark years.

However, it's Tottenham I love first before any man or woman (Life of Brian lol), so now I'm actually very excited about a genuine world class manager taking over, and I'm not talking about a Mark Hughes, Graeme Souness or Harry Redknapp. Only the best need apply for the super Spurs revival chapter 2 from any of Ramos, Mourhino, Klinsmann, Lippi or Capello may apply.

I am also at the same time worried about the interim period of that new manager joining cos if have too long as a "caretaker" period like in a few months or worse at the end of the season, then we risk not getting into Europe at all which would be a disaster in terms of keeping our top players and attracting new genuine quality.

Come on you new super Spurs!!!

This should have happened 5 months ago. The fifth place kept Jol and gave Berbatov a reason to 'declare' his 'love' for the club, fans and Jol.Everyone forgot about the problems they had all the time during the season as if it was all fine.
So, Jol proved he was still incompetent and Berbatov showed he's a fake( if he had had true love he would had fought heart and soul for it).
Well, now one item is over. Bye Jol and good riddance.
But the other item isn't because Berba's good image is gone and we all know him for what he truly is. No, it's not over yet. Far from it.

If Juande Ramos was to come i, would it be now or beggining of next season.

Also, Gus Poyet for assistant manager? What?

Farewell Boss Martin Jol. The years have been short, but the games were long.

Cheers Martin, a spurs legend in waiting that never was!

What a shame you were stripped of your dignity by a perma-tanned wideboy and his fat, spotty half-wit mate.

Ive never been to a game with such a morbid atmosphere, i went to a football match not a funeral!! I'm 100% sure the players new before kick-off, they looked deflated and dis-interested.

Good Luck to you MJ, cheers for the past two seasons, not only the restored faith in THFC, but the fact that you delivered it with diplomacy, never hid, never pointed fingers, took it all on the chin, like a man and showed how a football club should behave in the face of adversity (Mendes goal at OT etc)

Unfortunately, ultimately you had to go but i cant help feeling that the problems were not ALL of your design.

Get yourself some silverware big man and prove certain people ie the "good riddance" men wrong.

Christ its like he's died isnt it?!!?

The whole situation has been a drain of everyone though and hopefully this can be the catalyst we need to get our stuff together, just as Chelshit did when Mourinho replace Ranieri.

Anonymous said...

Feel like someone's just died. Although I wanted him to go, and overall it was for the best in my point of view, it was still a bit sad when I heard the news.

I do however, feel a bit guilty as I, like many others didn't get the news until I left the game (a rare ten minutes early I might add, in disgust) and chose not to join in with the "I love Martin Jol" chants, which I would have done had I have known.

Can't blame him for dragging it out, who wouldn't with four million on offer? Also I do think he genuinely wanted to do well, despite it seeming at times like he was trying to bring us down from the inside.

Thanks for the good times Martin, good luck.

It's not about BMJ going, it's about how it's been done. In my 45 years of support this goes down as the biggest public (self initiated)humiliation of the club (lets Irving Scholar off the hook!). Still the one ray of sunshine is that "Jolsgonemental" can crawl back under their rock. Next time you post a comment please use something more original than "Ramoshasgonemental" as your tag maybe use "i'maprick" that's got a nice ring to it.

Thanks for the open feedback "jolsgone......mental". wasn't whining just stating the facts, think you may have missed the point. If you want whining look up all your posts for the last few months. I bet you always leave 15 mins before the end of the game. Now go away and make up a new name, how about "I'mashallowknobgonemental"?

well you have certainly amassed a repetoire of witty one liners in your 45 plus years.

Good luck Martin. You took Spurs as far as you could. Lets hope that this is not as far as the club can actually go. Because if Ramos fails then we've hit a bottleneck.....which means we may as well let go of the dream and support West Ham.
