A Veritable Torrent Of Triffic Transfer Tales...

Wilson: Can't be too careful nowadays, y'know? Lot of "tea leaves" about, know what I mean?
Warehouse Foreman: Excuse me?
Wilson: Tea leaves... thieves.

Here is what I got.

Bostock I have no info on and whilst I sincerely hope he's another Bale in terms of quality, I am nervous that the Internet attention to this signing has been blown out of proportion due to the Club's clamp down on leaks...

Capel. Allegedly a bid has gone in. I submit it was tendered by a man wearing oven gloves.

Dos Santos. A chap called Jasper on Spurs Odious is positively gushing information that specifically says we are the Club that has stormed in with an offer in proper order. Which is to say the lump of the lolly up front. He adds that Inter et al are sniffing but only with HP bids. I have had only one email to confirm this, but the sender has, so far, yet to be wrong... So...

Dunne. A brand new source emailed earlier this week and was SCREAMING this was going to happen. Now the Daily Flail are running it. Me? I hope so. He's NOT world class, but for the love of... he is would be what I would expect as a squad player from here on in. I have dear reader, high hopes for us, y'see.

The possible signing of Dos Santos was sounding good, up until reports came out quoting him as saying that he'd like to play for Chelsea.

From everything I've read on this so far, I have to say it sounds like this is going to all end in tears. We're the only club who've agreed the fee with Barca so far, but there is still time for another club to come in with a bid.

Having said that, would Barca want to sell him to Chelsea?

ur the only site I look forward to reading every day. Really hope the giovani one go's through and Capel. Not sure bout dunn tho...i need to get out more...

H,

Great work again, I am clinging to hope re; Santos. I hope your source keeps on hitting the jackpot. Any idea on time frame ie, completion of transfer ??

While the Chelsea stuff may be rubbish it doesn't mean that that dos Santos deal could be upset by anyone a shade bigger than us taking a look in, he just seems to be that type...

Anonymous said...

WCD, I agree, what appears slightly strange is that this was on Sky Sports earlier this week and in the morning papers today and earlier this week. Why is it that no deal can be announced yet? I hope that he isn't just hanging on for a better offer.
I thought Ramos was the main appeal for coming to Spurs. I don't understand why it's not completed.

You are NO fool and consequently very welcome.

These are tough times for honest men.

Or so I am told.....

A Man City friend of mine assures me that Dunne would be a wonderful aquisition for us and he along with thousands of other City supporters would be gutted to see him go. (I'm sure there should be a few commas there but its Friday night so who cares?)
So being Spurs through and through I would love him to come.
My gripe is the way so many of our fans have written off Dawson...he does look like he had a bit of a confidence crisis and for sure he plays far better with another class partner. We've got Woodgate now and so when Ledley is unable to play, I believe Dawson is a better and younger proposition than Dunne.
So...yes bring in Dunne but not at the expense of our smiling, refreshing talent who is already here.

Any noise about goalkeepers among your (t)rusty contacts? Or will Levy splash out in the first two weeks of the summer and realize in August that they forgot something and have to promote David Button to No. 1?

Where's them Jim Davidson jokes then 'arry?

good evening H... i am told the latest Dos Santos to chelsea quotes are actually re-hashed from an interview last December! Any word on the striker situation? any one sniffing round Berb yet?

Anonymous said...

For what it's worth (and this is very much third-hand stuff), a Portsmouth "connection" admitted that the club have made a "tentative approach" to Citeh for Dunne. Pompey are looking to replace our beloved former CB - cos he's "slowing down and seems to be losing it" (bless). They are, apparently, one of "at least" three Prem clubs sniffing round. He thinks that while the deal they're proposing is better salary-wise than Tottenham's one, Dunne seems to favour us - so Pompey will look elsewhere. When asked if this meant "that young French guy at Spurs", the bloke said that was just agent-fed media speculation.
Which all boils down to not very much ...so I'm off to the flicks to watch "In Bruges".

I always find it slightly worrying when the Sun actually comes out and categorically states that we have ACTUALLY signed him but with no further evidence to suggest it is so.

It's like they want to taint our signings before they happen.

OK. I think Dunne would be the best signing of the lot. With the jury out on Kaboul, Dawson having a few wobbles and King not guaranteed fitness, he is the sort of player who could steady the defence with Woody. Let's not forget he's Keanos mate, which would probably swing it. He has been quite awesome for Citeh over the past few years; their loss is our gain.

Dos Santos as well - mmmmmmmmmm.

Good question...

No is the answer. Moreover matey the whole Berba's Off rubbish has been beautifully scuppered by the genuine lack of bids.

Ha! To our best mate ED. Cock.

Nick Barmby’s old room mates sister, who’s best mate now works at the new Spurs store in Chelmsford told me to tell whoever it is who keeps calling asking if we sell “Bostick” and “Frey Bentos” and calling himself Steve Perryman, to stop it. She said it’s hard enough waiting by the phone all day to find out whom we’ve signed to order the right amount of letters for shirts as it is. She said if Harry could give her a call at the store and brief her on what possible signings were in the air and the true spelling of their names she would be grateful otherwise sticky stuff and corned beef could represent the closest thing to new signings this weekend as it can get all too confusing when the rush starts…..

Dunne would be the best signing of the lot, he is class a real rock at the back and he's really quick, people think he's slow because of his build but he's not. City player of the year for four years running and I saw City and Ireland play (I'm Irish) he was the best player on the pitch! an absolute rock I would love it if we signed him.

Harry,

Modric, Dos Santos, Capel.. all very gifted young players that I'd love to see play for us, but they're all young, inexperienced, and a bit on the small side.

I'm not trying to put a dampener on things here, but what our current midfield lacks most of all is character, guts and determination.

We're not going to get into the Top 4 without someone doing the dirty work in the engine room. Zakora, Huddlestone, Jenas, Tainio, and Prince-Whatshisface have so far come up short in the defensive midfield department.

Have you heard any rumours about this position?

Unknown said...

How the fuck fuck would Dunne be the best signing when we have Woodgate and King. For one thing Dunne is just a good EPL central defender, also the most important and expensive players are forwards. There are plenty of defenders in the world who Ramos could organise. If Dos Santos signs then we really have had a great summer. We seem to have become the school of summer after youngsters have watched Chelsea and Arsenal kill many careers and waste british talent. Those years of Daws Huddlestone Carrick Defoe Lennon have really payed dividends with our reputation

This Bostock thing is just typical of Palace.

The boy has picked us, we're giving them the cash (and plenty of it) but they want to make a song and dance of it so the public relations frightened chairmen of the premiership give their kids a wide birth in future. But do they not understand how stupid it makes themselves look. It's about time they took a long hard look at themselves. Lets look at the evidence as Lloyd Grossman would say;
Chairman = World Class Knobber
Manager = Fat Northern Joke
Ground = Worst ground in Football (which they paid a fortune for)
Fans = All called Wayne and drink baccardi breezers on the way home from their post round. When the team plays away they go and watch Bromley at home instead.

I would admit that all are good signings but this situation seems similar to last season's 'one for the future' hardly proven quality signings that spurs had. I dont see us pushing into the top four with these type of players. We need experience and quality in the midfield. Someone of Edgar's calibre in the lasagne season, where players like modric can learn and develop from. Dont expect to see jenas to that for him. Midfield general, teacher and motivator is what i would like to see in spurs. Till then, we will always be 'underachievers' in the mould of Andy Murray, England's hottest talent in the world of tennis and China to be the next superpower. Sizzle ma nizzle. Spurs in dreamland again??

Dunne would be a great signing.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. perfect. A player who we can put straight into the first team who we know exactly what we are getting.

Potential is great and I am glad to see we are still chasing the Bostocks of this world but we have been caught short in the last few years by not picking up the Dunnes as well.

A good solid experienced warhorse of a central defender. Just what we could have done with over the last couple seasons, know we may have two.

Spurs have started buying substance to go along side the style.

Say what you want about Levy/Comolli etc but they do take on board lessons learnt.

And whats also great about signing Dunne, is that it wil send the Geordies fucking hysterical.

Woodgate, Modric then Dunne - bigger club my arse.

Anonymous said...

and why are we so sure the Chelsea stuiff is 'guff'?

Anonymous said...

Love the picture of Levy sorting out Berba's pimp. Wow, we are really on the up! All this speculation is making my summer a lot more bearable. I think Dunne gives us a bit of balance, where he can stick it up 'em, Robbo style, allowing our immense pool of flair players, both signed and on the way, the freedom to do as they will, with Woodgate, hopefully Ledders, and now Dunne we have real ability to mop up when attacks break down. These are surely now exciting times at the Lane! COYS!

Anonymous said...

Has anybody thought that if Ledder's (AKA God) is fully fit next season he could be the defensive midfielder that we crave with Dunne and Woodgate behind he (oh er!!).

Anonymous said...

Sorry That mean't to say behind them

Anonymous said...

Behind him!!!!!! (I don't know what the wife put in the tea this morning?)

Anonymous said...

good morning yiddos-

if your wife makes you a cup of tea on the weekend you're a lucky man...

If we sold Berba to Man Utd would we be a feeder club to them as was suggested in a shite tabloid?

Moody players are always looking for greener pastures and bigger trophies. Be good if we could hold on to him and maybe give him some pills every day to keep him happy.

Great two signings so far. It's a tad boring guessing who the next one will be-

How about which current 1st team midfielder you want to see the back of?

Unknown said...

Of the midfield the only ones I'd want to keep are THudd, O'Hara, Malbranque and Tainio.

However I would imagine that Tainio and Malbranque would end up purely as squad players (which Tainio is already).

I really hope Huddlestone doesn't go and is given at least another season to develop because he has probably shown the greatest improvement of all our young players (I would say the same of O'Hara but I never saw the lad play in reserves or for Millwall).

Unknown said...

OH and good morning back! Where are my manners today...

Ossies V Neck said...

Can we really keep Berba happy with UEFA cup football and pills?

Be great if he stayed to link up with our new Croatian.

Regarding our midfield-I thought O' Hara started believing his own hype too much. He shouldn't forget his greatest strength is his work ethic, which he forgot at the tail end of the season.

Hope we keep buying homegrown players, so if the 6+5 rule comes in we are well set up and the gooners will be flailing about. Their use of 0.34 English palyers last season was truly pathetic.

and the Emirates stadium looks like a big Mc Donalds.

and why we're at it, why do their best players keep leaving?

Anonymous said...

I reckon Dunn would be a huge improvement over Rocha and Kaboul, but why aren't we after Micah Richards instead, seeing as how he's got fewer km's on him?

Anonymous said...

Oops -- that'd be Dunne with an 'e' of course

Anonymous said...

"Has anybody thought that if Ledder's (AKA God) is fully fit next season he could be the defensive midfielder that we crave with Dunne and Woodgate behind he (oh er!!)."

Erm, no. He's a centre half when fit. When Pleat was here, King was used in that role and absolutely hated it. Just need to buy the right man for the job. God knows who???

coys

Anonymous said...

just a quick question..if we sign Dunne..arguably a top centre-half...does this imply that Ledley is finished..

can't see Dunne moving just to be back-up to Woody and King..

Anonymous said...

Of course Ledley isn't finished. We need his knees to put all that cling-film round. There's a role for him yet. And, even though we're employing a team of midgets, it's ok because we can always use platform-studs.

Meanwhile, not content with being furious over Pete, Jordan is still furious over Bostock. Fuss and fume. Tit.

Poor ol' Berbs. No one wants him. Is diddums stuck at Spurs? There there. I can't see Modric, Capel, Dos Santos and Dunne putting up with his bollockings on the pitch. Dunne will have him up against a wall. Basically, that's great. Berba will be a lesser-light and a team-player, and get back to the footballer he was a couple of seasons ago. That or the bench.

Good post.
The club must be scouring the world for a player to fill this linchpin positon, but ones of proven quality are few and far between. There's also a catch 22 situation in that an experienced top quality DM would not join a club outside the CL, but for us to get into the CL, we need a player of that quality. This is where Comolli and his scouting team have let the club down over the last three seasons and the reason we've gone backward rather than forward. Why haven't they sounded out one or two lesser known quality DMs? We've wasted three years waiting on players such as Jenas, Lennon and to a lesser extent Huddlestone to fulfil their potential and now it looks as though another midfield overhaul is on the cards. As in the quote above, until this vital position is filled, I'm not getting too carried away by another couple of young atacking players, however good they might be.
Dunne is more than welcome though.

Since when are two top drawer central defenders enough for a top four side ? If we want to compete we would need new blood even if Ledders is fit.

Good point jgm. It does appear that they Dan and the Dame are learning. Maybe Juande and Gus laid it on the line when they joined.

As for Dos Santos and Dunne, loads of hype earlier in the week and now.. Nada ;-(
I think Dos Santos, Capel and Dunne plus a great holding midfielder and good keeper would see us push for a top 4 place.

agreed..

seems as though Dunne is off to Pompey now.. which, if true, can only mean that he isn't willing to fight it out between Woody and (a fit) King or the two centre-half positions.

this would also imply that King will be looking to compete a full season next year.. and that's good news for us all..

what say you Harry?

Anonymous said...

Dunne is good but if Ledley is fit and we have Dawson in reserves.. Do we need Dunne?? Not sure the answer is yes.

Dos Santos rumour seems to have fallen out of the Sky.. All it's all gone quiet ??

What of Veloso, indeed? And also Jarque?

Maybe the dearth of leaks is the calm before the storm. I bloody hope so. I'd be a mite disappointed if Dos Santos went to Chel*ea. Can't see it, myself. He's leaving a galaxy of stars, so why would he depart for another? Plus, Chel*ea destroys careers - or at least puts the brakes on them: Sidwell, Shevchenko, Wright-Phillips, and even Grant himself. Plus, the club is in a very fluid state. Plus, Spurs are only team in London to win a trophy. Fcuk those chavs. End of.

Can't see King completing a full season myself, but then I couldn't see Harry speaking fluent Japanese, either. How wrong I was.

When are you lot gonns wake up and cross King out of the reckoning? His appearance record in the past few seasons means he must be discounted in the planning and kept as a squad player, cos that's all he has been. If he proves me wrong then great but let's not be naive enough to think it will happen.

Therefore we need Dunne because he can do a job and is relatively cheap, especially as Dawson is not up to it. Maybe Gunter can do a job there as well but rest assured that given King and Woodgate's fitness record, we will have several matches of Dawson + a.n.other and that will cost us dearly. So we buy somebody who can drop straight into that position.

Other than goalie, central defence is the key to next season.

Anonymous said...

yes coz our midfield is just superb..no need of any new players there..

Yeah. Maybe we could put in a bid for the Croatian guy Modric...

ya i hear he's as good as 4 midfielders.. maybe next season we could field a 4-1-2 formation
