As a team from front to back - best performance i've seen in years!!! Robbo is clearly still Englands no.1! We're playing like a team and the positional play was terrific. Starting to remember the talent some of these guys had when we bought them. Malbranque - most underated and best game for game performer we have.

Fcuk me Harry you're quicker than MotD. Top job.

Incidentaly; I take back my suggestion regarding going out of this micky mouse competition. If we're gonna start regularly beating top 6 sides, away, with or without 10 men, we might as well go on and win it I suppose.

Now did portsmouth & city just have a bad day at the office or is the Ramos effect super-charged?

The arse**l game should reveal the answer.

Again, great work 'Arry.

Justice in the end! O'Hara looks like a quality player in the making, just hope Defoe aint too cheesed off bout being taken off. We starting to look like a good team again.

the key word by the sound of it - team. bring on the scum. elated tonight, 1st time in a long time; well, since saturday.

abut time
but well done lads this month you are really playing well!

fucking blindin result, they had won all ten before this,so 2.0 with 10men is just superb,it seems the more time jr has with the team the better we get!clean sheet, they played like fucking hero's to a man, brilliant lets take this into the weekend and do em! were the fucking record killers.

EL said...

"bring on the scum"

That defoe goal showed us what spurs are about, slick passing, fast, skilled one touch football. Bring on the dirty gooners!!!

Anonymous said...

what a nob end, but pretty funny. Respect

Anonymous said...

10 match unbeaten?? HAH!!! and DOUBLE HAH!! we beat em with 10 man!!! This shows that we will join the rest at the top 5 again.

If we get the cup, im betting ramos will try to get em Uefa cup too!!

At this rate I'll need to take back all I said about Kaboul. Maybe it was Dawson causing all the jitters.

All of a sudden we look credible in the most critical of eyes...

Good work Harry,,,

Were back on track again, the boys played a blinder. It just goes to show we have the players and the sprit to get the results we need.

Waking in a Ramos wonderland. Come on you spurs.

Outstanding performance. I was so p*ssed off with the red card, but Spurs really stepped up to the plate and were incredible. I truly believe Spurs can go on to great things THIS season. Carling cup, FA cup, Uefa cup, I'll take all 3 :D

city robbed again? you are havin a giraffe mate!we played against 12 men first half and 10 men for practically the entire game at your ground! get real joker

Anonymous said...

What about Tainio? He's been mentioned of being the first one to leave but after todays performance JR must have a rethink. He played as well as Cannavaro in defence. His multitalent is unreplaceable for Spurs.

Anonymous said...

2 - 0. how is that lucky ?!
teamwork teamwork teamwork. a fighting spirit ensues. we can beat anyone at this rate. let's not get carried away though; if we don't get anything out of saturday, the last 2 results count for nothing.
btw - my missus is tutting over my shoulder - she just don't understand!!!!

Absoulutely sublime ball by Jenas on the Defoe goal. Reminds of Carrick when paired with Boateng. Hopefully, big things are in store

Anonymous said...

O'Hara! Left-footed? What a ball to Steed! Cannot believe how well we played. Carry that on this w/e please lads!

Anonymous said...

chicago spur, agree mate jenas like most of em are def getting better and the prince has def helped to sure things up and give jj a bit of freedom simply by tracking runners, so simple yet makes such a differance.

Anonymous said...

There's a lot of players whom isn't getting enough credit I think. Berbatov an amazing game. eventhough he looked frustrated as usual his sublime skills and the hard work he made upfront was one of the keys to victory. Tainio I mentioned already was terrific. Chimbonda after switching to centre back played like our captain King. Best game for Kaboul. Jenas is getting better and better. Lennon was great the first half but his play suffered of zokoras sendin off. I like Boateng but he needs more games. Defoe was sharp the first 20 minutes:). Thank god Malbranque made the goal because I was really disappointed with his pass early in the game which would have sealed the game and given Defoe his second. You just can't miss those chances! Let's continue and kick Arse on saturday!

Anonymous said...

why all the fuss about malbranque`s "tackle"?
the shower of shit ref made one of the worst decisions ive ever seen to send zokora off!! i guess things even themselves out hey?!!

was terrific performance by the whole team tonight, didnt anyone else think Berba was fantastic?
Robbo is coming back to form nicely. the "ramos effect" seems to be rubbing off now, we at least look organised!. im personally looking forward to a strong end to the season a shrewd deal or 2 in jan & we could end up celebrating still!!
3 points off the south london wankers at the weekend please!

just so happy with the team work, organisation, spirit, work rate, belief, determination, movement(sublime first goal)defending, goalkeeping, pride in the shirt, they had the f*cking lot tonight, with all the injuries at the back and players out etc this was nothing short of fantastic ,credit to Juande and the boys

Anonymous said...

fair play to spurs, they wanted it more on the night, city had an off night, passing and movement was lazy.As for the "referee" worst shower of shite i've seen all season.

Great performance by the team tonight as well as great spirit and teamwork.
Hard to pick out individuals but good to see Robbo looking fit, full of confidence and back to his best, nice also to see Kaboul play well and really pleased to see O'Hara given a chance and taking it with both feet.
Finally I think the yellow away kit is fab - so much better than that chocolate coloured rubbish we wore last year

Fantastic...can't wait for the scum on Saturday...COYS!!!

only saw the highlights on ITV so can't really comment on players' performances...i'll rammble on anyway...

what a win.. in a previous thread i predicted a 2-0 win and that came up trumps..sadly however the €20 i bet on a HT Draw/FT Tottenham failed add to my bank balance..(F*cking Defoe...couldn't have just left it to Steed could you?! oh no you had to be Mr. Score-a-goal didn't you!!)

in all seriousness though a well worked and well taken goal..felt sorry for him being taken off but no excuse to go off sulking.. SIGN YOUR F*CKING CONTRACT!!

Zokora deserved to be sent off according to the letter of the law..but it wasn't as bad as it looked..Steed probably deserved to get sent off although i have a suspicion that the leg he caught him with wasn't showing studs..i'd have to see it again..

Robinson made 1 world class save from Darius Vasseline and a slightly less than world class save from Bianchi - 2 clean sheets in a row away from home..no complaints..

All I saw of O'Hara is the superb "land it on a postage stamp from 40 yards" crossfield pass to Steed.. i know it's early days and shouldn't be jumping the gun but am i wrong in being excited by this lad?? he has arguably won the last 2 games for us..certainly contributed highly to both wins despite hardly even being on the pitch..

Super finish from Steed..control and composure was second to none..

By all accounts Berb was out of this world..i ain't seen the game but i'm never one to doubt my hero.. altogether now: DI-MI-TAR BERBATOV, DI-MI-TAR BERBATOV, DI-MI-TAR BERBATOV, DI-MI-TAR BERBATOV

now comes the dilema...Robbie or Defoe to start on Sat...Defoe has been on the pitch for only 45 mins approx and has contributed 2 goals.. but i saw him disappear at the Emirates last year..Robbie would certainly have the "balls" to take the game to Arsenal...I'd go for Robbie..just

Secondly i really want to see Tainio playing on Sat..i think he's no good as a footballer but he will put his body on the line..i've liked him ever since the NLD of 03/04 i think it was in WHL (the 1-1 game where Ledley scored) where he got busted open and literally sweated blood for the cause.. maybe i'm getting carried away with the imagery there but i want to see that kind of commitment on Sat..plus i want to see a few Gooners busted open..and a goal by Berb..we're gonna get somethin out of this game i just know it..

never has the newly-formed phrase BIOYC had more meaning...

So BIOYC and COYS

oh and yes that yellow kit is absolutely gorgeous.. how good would it look without that ugly sponsor on it..

wouldn't it be great if we were like Athletic Bilbao and refuse to have a shirt sponsor..

Two words - "Fuckin Awesome"
O'Hara looks the real deal - Steed didn't break stride running onto his 40 yard pass, just think about him and Bale operating down our left side for the next decade!

I'm either in a dreamland, in either case, don't pinch me, don't wake me up, or I've just awoken from a nightmare starring Freddie 'Jol' Kruger, and things at the Lane are back to normal! Fantastic! 2 aways on the trot, beating both with unbeaten records, 10 men, to be fair to the city player, he carried on and did not feign injury, unlike Steed's opponent! Robbo playing a blinder, fabulous football with a well taken Defoe effort, a committed and brave performance by the lads with a great set-up by O'Hara for Steed to finish! Bring on the Gooners, both on Saturday and the semis! Juande Ramos Blue & White Army! COYS!

ya i'm hopin for a North London Derby in the semi-finals...fingers crossed

was luck enough to catch the last 10 minutes of the match and saw steed's goal. excellent finishing!! great vision from J ohara.

but dimitar missed a 1 on 1 from a briliant Thud pass.

hope ramos molds hud into a great midfielder. the only thing i can see lacking from hud is his defensive mobility.

Anonymous said...

Best performance ive seen from the spurs for a while now and Im hoping we can keep it up! Ramos has worked wonders and it jst seems to keep getting better!

No you cant stop the Juande Ramos Revolution!

Sorry to change direction after last nights awesome performance - But I see our friends from the Mirror are running the story about Berbatov again - this time in exchange for Saha, Brown and £6m - Can anybody explain to me why we would exchange our "Jewel in the Crown" for a pile of s**t that Manure are clearing out of the attic.

Anonymous said...

Great result.
I'm concious not to get carried away yet, but we've made significant progress since the Brum game.

I'm sure we can get something from Saturday, but by the same token I disagree with 'Dannyboys' comment;
"if we don't get anything out of saturday, the last 2 results count for nothing"
....they do... (without wishing to state the obvious) they count for 3points and a semi final!

This whole Berba to United in exchange for a Twister mat, an Action Man helicoptor and a night out with Roland Keating is complete and utter cobblers.

Funny how when the intellectually damaged Bulgarian 'media' made up this guff from their potting sheds they were lamblasted yet the UK press are alright to concoct similar shite on the grounds that they HAVE REALLY RUN OUT OF STORIES THIS TIME.

Anonymous said...

"now comes the dilema...Robbie or Defoe to start on Sat...I'd go for Robbie..just"

Is it me or has Berba looked a bit happier without Keane there moaning, pointing etc?

Anonymous said...

We're all happier withoutkeane pointing and moaning...

til he scores!

cheshirespur said...

I don't know where to vent my anger - Red Tops writing complete and utter drivel (Berbatov story) in order to sell papers and just fill column inches OR Manure, who are quite happy to let these stories run in order that they might unsettle players and alert agents to "a nice bit of business" around the corner.

Anonymous said...

Turning out to be a great Christmas season. A strong performance against Arsenal isn't too unrealistic, I think.

Berbatov is so bloody important to us. Losing him after this year could be like losing Carrick.

Anonymous said...

No way Berba's going anywhere in January (Levy isn't stupid).

If the unthinkable happens and he goes in the Summer then we certainly dont want United cast off's... well, maybe the Action man helicopter.

Given how shrewd Fergie is, he's not letting anyone go who will make a difference to Uniteds 1st 11and given our aspirations we cant consider '2nd best'.

:HighandLow

EL said...

Given that Malbranque showed he was better with a calm, one on one, slide-rule passing finish than Berbs; why not play twinkle-toes in center midfield behind say Bent & defoe, in place of Jenas? Or behind just Defoe with a 5 man midfield?
Berb's best work at the moment seems to be outside the box.

How Juande puts us out against the goons will be interesting. As middlesbrough showed; closing down in midfield will be key. Nothing will give us a better psychological edge over all opposition for the rest of the season than beating the glittering goons at the weekend.

Dreaming has become so much easier since uncle Ramos has been plumping up my pillow.

COME ON YOU SPURS!

Summerspur said...

hey daytripper,

your post about robbo being "mediocre at his very best" wanna change your views?
and you other robbo critics, you know who you are, harry, JGM etc

how about some credit where its due. you are pretty quick of the mark to slag him off.

Anonymous said...

Last two performances have been great relative to where we were heading, but there is still a long way to go.

All credit to Ramos and the lads but I don't think we are ready yet to topple the south London gypsies just yet.

I'm hoping for a good performance on Saturday and if we get anything out of the game it will be a bonus given the injuries and suspensions we have. It's the games after that that are really important and if we can show the same organisation and spirit then we can climb the League and progres in the cups.

It's interesting to note that no Keane and no Dawson = 2 clean sheets and two away wins. I think we should keep it the same and let Keane have the off-the-bench role if required while letting DeFoe have first shot. Similarly, until Dawson can communicate in French, it would be a good idea not to partner him with Kaboul, who has improved beyond all recognition in the last two games.

Anonymous said...

hohoho

short memory, you lot!

just because he played three good games this season that doesn't mean he's any good next Summer. You're going to lose money anyway, but less if he goes now in January.

I told ya before lots of things that happened.

I'm telling ya now what's is gonna happen in the future.

Don't say I didn't warn ya.

Sell the Berbaflop.

Definately agree with El that Keano should start on the bench on Saturday and let Defoe start, bringing Keano on second half. Defoe has looked sharp and may want to prove his mate Ian Wright -right against the scum which will give him a double opportunity to prove his point against Juande giving him little playing time, as well as put himself in the shop window incase he wants to leave - hope the latter is not the case though. Just sense he is on one of those hot goal streaks he goes on from time to time.

Also would love to see Steed given a central role behind Berbs and Defoe/Keane.

Does Zokora's ban begin immediately or does it start the game after next?

Do not agree that Dawson is detrimental to the side, but agree there is obviously a communication/confidence issue between him and Kaboul when they play together ie both need to play alongside a leader or experienced head - especially Kaboul. Dawson in times of injuries during last season etc has been relied upon and often did a great job leading to many of us calling for him to be given captaincy, however just doesn't seem to have confidence when alongside Kaboul, maybe spends more time looking out for Kaboul's mistakes instead of concentrating on his own game?

City 0 Tottenham 2

Having recently returned from The Middle East, my cousin came across an ancient parchment in a curiosity shop. Part of the inscription may explain why we lost to the Spurs - again. It said - As God surveyed his kingdom he announced "What wondrous things have I created. From the smallest creature to the largest mammal, from the deepest ocean to the highest mountain all is good in the world. Now I shall create man (and woman) to share my creation" -and he did. And as the trees, plants and grass populated the earth, all Gods creatures knew their place. But God was still not satisfied, for he knew that his children would require recreation for when their work was done. "I know, said God, I shall create football teams, to entertain my children every week with a games of football". So this God did, he created some teams that played in red, some in white, some in blue and some in yellow. But one he decreed shall play in sky blue and white and they shall be called Manchester City. This was God's favourite team and he watched as they grew from their humble beginnings. The devil looked up from his pit of hell and was envious of what God had created, so he created a football team of his own and called them the Red Devil's or Manchester United and they shall play in shirts as red as the fires of hell itself. One day during a game between God's own team and the spawn of Satan, a saint called Dennis scored a goal of devilish trickery and sent the Devil's children down to the place from whence few ever return, which did not please the Devil. So he cursed Manchester City and vowed "Whenever God's team shall play those that is called Tottenham in any game that is important, they shall lose. This shall be your punishment" And this the Devil did and to this day whenever the two shall meet, it is written that Tottenham will always win - And they did, The Bastards!

I won't comment on the match apart from it being another impressive result. Not a fan of judging games on highlights but 65% possession with 10-men for 70 minutes and a confident performance from both Berbatov and Robinson is always nice to hear.

Shame for Defoe but it was the right decision to sacrifice him instead of Berbatov, goal or not.

As for Saturday Keane will be back. Defoe as we all know only needs a sniff of the goal to have a dig but Keane's work-rate will be essential as I expect we'll be over-run for the majority of the game. It's a huge game for Berba too as he'll be up by himself for a lot of the time.
