Push n' Run Team Lasts Longer With Jol Gone

Juande Ramos has led his new model Tottenham army to it's first victory.

The new coach gave an immeadiate demonstration of his tactical wit. Kaboul had his first naff game in a Spurs shirt and was subbed for Tainio (56). Chimbonda was nudged up to centre half and soon after scored. The goal was punctuated with the subbing of Keane and the introduction of Defoe (60). Bent then came out to replace Berbatov (71).

This is what we want. Not hanging around to see what unfolds. Let's hope Ramos continues in this proactive manner.

Less postive notes: It beggars belief some of the poor play that reared its head from Lilywhite shirts. From players colliding to YP Lee's back heel, if we had been up against a decent Premiership side the scoreline would not have been so forgiving. Bent is in the doldrums. It's official.

Chimbonda's daft free concession of a free kick a minute into injury time had all the hallmarks of the usual. A last gasp goal from the visitors. It didn't.

Maybe Tottenham can turn the corner.
Maybe a push and run team can last longer with Jol gone.

Lovin' the site Harry, as always... but the Kaboul comment? I couldn't work out if I should have been reading it with a sense of irony or not. "first naff game in a Spurs shirt" I've yet to be impressed by his defensive abilities and positional play. He was shocking and one of our worst players in the Newcastle. What did you make of his performance there matey? Anyway, keep up the good work. :)

(Newcaslte GAME, even)

Kaboul had his FIRST naff game?! From the way Ramos looked at him it could have been his last!

Anonymous said...

Kaboul should be playing as a defensive midfielder. He's got good dribbling skills can pass a ball, has an awesome strike on him and can defend a little

Zokora & Jenas displayed their high levels of inability again.

I enjoyed the princes new hair cut.

Kaboul could be a great player, take it easy on the lad everyone makes mistakes, even Rio, Campbell, Nesta, Puyol... and especially when you are just starting your career under your second manger in an intimidating arena and trying to be confident. He will be fine just needs experience and the mistakes will make him concentrate even harder next time the ball comes his way. I am really happy for Keane and it would be amazing if Ramos could take Robbie to the next level - world class. If any player deserves it Keane does. I cannot remember one bad word from Robbie, even with all the shit going on with Hoddle and Pleat. Then the calamity French twat with his alter ego and lack of talent. Robbie is becoming a club legend and I hope he stays to enjoy the champions league with Spurs. I am learning Spanish out of respect for Juande and I have heard HH is also showing his respect. ataque ataque ataque rapido

vamos Jenas, the Thud, Zakora rapido

HH do you make any dinero from this website because I am a designer and I am thinking of building a site aimed at our Spanish friends. Possibly a site which concentrates on interactive player ratings, membership, board pressure, shares options, and Spurs future

I totally agree with the poster Re: kaboul and DM, I really think he could do a job for us at the mo, going forward he's great, he has a powerful shot, good passing, and can tackle, he gets let down by the concentration required to be a CB. I'd love to see him tried out in mid field of bale left, malbranque mid, lennon right and kaboul sitting behind.

Anonymous said...

thank god for Robbie Keane and as for making him in to a world class player id say 24 goals in his last 31 games makes him the best finisher in europe so we had better concentrate on keeping him rather than trying to improve him. i thought Jenas played well last night i just wish our fickle fans would start afresh in the same was as the manager will

Anonymous said...

I think there's some room for more adverts on here you know...

Anonymous said...

anyone know where one can find some highlights of the game?

GRAZZA said...

Not fickle at all, ive always said Jenas is shit. Just exactly how did he play well last night?

Or do you not know what fickle means? or do you just enjoy reciting what you see on the tele/hear on the radio?

Anonymous said...

grazza your an arse. just look at how badly tottenham play when jenas isnt in midfield. and by fickle i mean a month a go kaboul was the second coming and ive heard tottenham fans say huddlestone is like the new hoddle when we play some pub team in the cup and rightly slate him the next time he comes up against a premier league midfielder. and as for the way the majority of our fans slag off Lee when the guys clearly been or most consistant defender for about a year now dumbfounds me

Anonymous said...

I think that the Chimbonda/Dawson partnership worked much better than Kaboul/Dawson. For me Kaboul tries to overcomplicate things when you should just be sticking your foot through the ball. Chimbonda was brilliant last night (albeit against poor opposition)and looked very comfortable at centre half with Dawson

Anonymous said...

I agree, lee is consistent, consistently crap, I mean what other premiership team has a left back without a left foot. I believe Zokora may come good under Ramos. I know he can't pass or shoot at all as yet, but he has the raw attributes of pace, strength and he is good with the ball at his feet. Who knows, maybe even Jenas will come good.

Anonymous said...

i was at the game last night, and our best player by a long way was Lee Young Pyo...FACT

Anonymous said...

Nothing wrong with LYP. He has been as good as anyone in our back 4 this season.

which is exactly a glowing tribute I know.

Anonymous said...

Harry, you are in the minority on Kaboul. He has been crap all season. He is not a natural defender. He takes too many chances, his defensive headers always go downwards to opponents feet instead of upwards and his reading of the game and positional play are woeful.

It begs the question who bought him? Comolli?

I reckon Ramos is going to out so many of Comolli's purchases that Levy will have no option but to give Comolli his just desserts and send him on his way. Maybe that is Levy's master plan.

GRAZZA said...

In that case i think your confusing fickle with differences of opinion - if i think Jenas is pants and you think hes good that doesnt make us fickle does it??

tottenham have played badly pretty much full stop this year with or without him...if you can tell me what you think he contributes then i might come round to your way of thinking but until then i just do not see it. All he contributed last night was a couple of interceptions - against a poor championship side to boot.

Saying tottenham are crap without him holds no water whatsoever and if you thought we played well last night then you are mental or easily pleased.

bueller said...

I am both mental and easily pleased but we were poor last night.

Jenas is simply not a good enough player to play in the centre of our midfield in my opinion. He doesn't offer enough technically or tactically for me. He is an athlete, I'll give him that.

LYP isn't a bad player but he's certainly very limited. Struggles to pass, cross or be incisive in anyway.

Kaboul needs lots of coaching. I think he has enough natural ability though.

It's all opinions though eh so let's have less of the .......FACT.....

Anonymous said...

i'm just going to sort some things out here quickly so we can move on to a different discussion. Jenas is absolute shite. Lee has probably been our best defender this year. Bent is absolute shite. Kaboul will be a Tottenham great once Ramos sorts him out. And finally, Ledley is injury prone and we need an experienced centre half to replace him.

Now. who should we bring in in the jan window? I say sell every centre midfielder we have except tainio and bring in Jesus Christ who is having quite a good season for Yeovil, I hear. He's two-footed, can cover at any position including keeper, and could cure ledders ailments immediately, as well as any other injuries we might pick up. I just wonder how the Yid faithful would react.

GRAZZA said...

I thought jenas' real name was jesus Christ for a while coz every time his name was read out every one says "Jesus Christ" with a pained expression.

Jimi Jazz - You want to flog our Steed as well?

Id love mendes to have stayed but its unrealistic. he was a victim of circumstance, ie behind carrick in the pecking order.

Fickle: rubbish word used largely by people with limited vocabs.

Did you know, 'in the real world' that you ARE allowed to both love and criticise the same?

And get this... Alter your opinion! If the food at Joe's is fab on Monday, and you go again Saturday and it's muck, you're ALLOWED to say so!

Inswerving loyalty is probably a great quality if you're an dog handler on the gate at Auschwitz.

But beyond that and in the respect of talking about footy it leaves you sounding like you've got a stick up your bottom.

Kaboul is young. I saw him take a free kick against one of those Animaniac teams during the preseason that was like a cannonshot.

His tackling and heading in another two friendlies were immense. He has generally played well in the league. Not outstanding, but well.

He was pony last night. JR was quoted as saying "Younes, he is how you say... Small horse and with trap?"

Lee has been one of our most improving players. He has become more physical, more technically orofficient and I would suggest more mentally resilliant.

Fickle my arse.

The whole team was weighed down last night by silly individual errors from players who can do better.

Go on the Ramos!

Bueller - So am i to be honest lol otherwise i wouldnt spend most of my money on Spurs! :)

YPL = He a funny one - looks like he should be good, has the odd flash but somethings not there, and anyway, after playing left back for god knows how many years still feels no obligation to actually try and use his left peg!! odd.

One of those frustrating players i can never make up my mind about!

Someone needs to sort poor old Daws out, the bloke who staggered through that last game of the season at west ham looking like he was going to die and 2 whole seasons when he gave everything has my total support!

GRAZZA said...

HH - Sounds so nice you had to post it twice :)

Hows your OAP Gooner mate tonight?

Anonymous said...

1. Kaboul is a very good defender, albeit one that takes an extra touch a bit too often.

2. Huddlestone is also good, but can turn in poor performances now and then if he is shut down quickly and has no movement in front of him to pick a pass.

3. Chimbonda at Centre Back a great managerial decision?
Hmmmmm Who was it that picked him at Centre Back in the Uefa cup last season........ Oh yeah, Jol.

Where are your players ratings?

I have found them a bit of a farce lately, especially getafe, where prior to scoring the players you slated fans, who actually went, for backing jol, then proceeded to score zokora something like minus 200 from the comfort of your sofa.

Now while i would be the first to admit that he isnt exactly viera, hes no tim sherwood either. Cant see how you can appreciate his engine and work rate from tv.

Will you be scoring last nights performances based on updates from teletext.

Ive got a review for ya. Moving kaboul into the middle could unveil the next tom huddlestone!!!!

HAPPY DAYS

HH, before i have my gripe or comment (whichever way you see it) i just want to say great site and great biting comments from many individuals on a subject matter that you can tell people on this site care deeply about. Even if they dont truly have logical arguments to back up their findings. Well done and keep it up...

But i do want to know if you and jolsgonemental have a thing going on?

Every time he's attacked (which is often cause hes a dimwit negative skys falling on our heads plonker) you jump to his aid. I dont see you doing that for anybody else either so it must mean you two are best of buddies or jolsgonemental IS HH in another guise...although that probably aint the case cause HH at least has some happy moments and doesnt live in doom and gloom land like jolsgonemental.

BTW jolsgonemental you can change the name now - you succeeded in taking down your man so no need to gloat with that moniker anymore...absolute tosser!

COYS w Ramos at the helm now...!

Anonymous said...

Have to disagree Harry.Blackpool was hardly a real test and if it had been Spurs defence would probably have come unstuck yet again.I've nothing against Ramos and he may turn out to be tactically better than Jol. However,as Jol's latest comments ( + what we already knew )on Commoli's transfer policy,in particular not getting Petrov and Elano, show ( I seem to remember you being keen on us getting them ),the real probelem is still at the Lane, namely Commoli. Not only did he not get the right players in but he and the board fatally undermined Jol which explains our current position I think more than any ineptness on Jol's part. You tend to confuse defending Jol with extreme loyalty/blind obedience when in fact it's a recognition by many of us that replacing Jol in mid season would be extremely disruptive and that the real problem, Commoli, is still at the Lane. Ramos may have tactical nous but unless he deals with Commoli, I suggest he could end up in the same position as Jol ?

9.13, The clouds have lifted and the sun is shining is jolsgonementalland.

I would love to take credit for 'taking down' my man. Surprisingly though, I wasnt party to the decision at all, in fact I think even Jol himself knew before I did.

ps. Harry is on his way round now to give you a good kicking.
