Well, it's a great start.

We’re forever bursting bubbles!!!...

A gritty performance sprinkled by the odd bit of magic, but most importantly another 3 points in the bag.

Admittedly when I saw our team lineup, 2 of the changes from the midweek game had me worried. Why was Davids and Mido in for Murphy and Berbatov? These 2 players had begun to provide a bit of guile we had been looking for. It looked like we were lining up for an away game with a more solid looking team selection.

During a scrappy first half which made this a typical derby game, 2 great chances went begging by Lennon and then Defoe. Just as half time was approaching, some of us might admit to thinking this was going to be another frustrating day at the office.

Then all of a sudden, Davids gets the ball down the left and puts in a cross not getting the lift he might have hoped for. But Mido seemingly left with a lot to do, in one movement flicked the ball up and walloped it on the volley and in off the post - beauty! My pre- match fears disappeared in one swift magical move.

Going in 1-0 up at half time was very important to boosting our confidence as our improved performance in the second half showed.

Our passing took on more purpose orchestrated by the young Hoddle, sorry I meant Huddle! This young man is really starting to show his class now finally dispelling the myth that a certain Michael Carrick is irreplaceable, just as some of his fans like my self believed he would. He even chipped in with his fair share of tackling to help out Jenas who was there working tirelessly alongside him breaking up play and making simple passes.

On the right, Lennon continued to taunt Konchesky and often left 3 Ham players in his speedy trail. Upfront Mido was finally starting to show his passion from last season again, clearly buoyed by his great goal. His partner Defoe was having a tugging match with Lennon over chances that were being created as West Ham were now being pulled apart. Sadly they are just not going in for JD right now, although his hunger still seems to be there as he even took a bite out of his Argie take away to prove it!

The defence looked collectively solid again fullstop.

This leaves us well poised to extend our mini unbeaten run at Watford next week. Another 3 points will set our sights to challenge for at least another Uefa spot, and a good chance of winning the cup itself would be a good stepping stone to greater things, anything is possible.

Yours
An excited yiddo!

Next game away to MK Dons in the league cup.
Will he rest someplayers who have been playing 3 games a week? After this we have Watford then Bruges which are crucial. Don't want any injuries to key players;King's knee must be a worry....

Yeah anon 7.37,

Should be the least priority shown in Carling games, would even try out a few youngsters against teams like MK Dons.

For me the strength of our team selection should be in this priority.

1st - Premiership games (our bread n butter)
2nd - Uefa Cup (would be great to win it, good advert to European players)
3rd - FA Cup (just a nice to win it)
4th - Carling (well, it might be a day out at the new Wembley!)

Thats why I was worried when Berbatov and Murphy wasn't selected after playing well lately. Happy Mido proved me wrong and did well as his replacement. Apart from Davids assist I cannot say the same for him Im afraid, gave too many passes away IMO.

MK Dons tonight. Mad dog Allen has put half his team up for sale; extra motivation to play well or a chance to offload some average midfielders to a visiting Martin Jol?

Big Maart says he will play a strong team and will take the comp seriously this year. ( we did last year and lost at Grimsby) I think it's an easier comp than the FA Cup as the top 4 usually play a weakened team (maybe not liverpool) and the final comes before the business end of the season. Automatic qualification for Europe is a handsome reward so early in the season. So let's get behind the team and hope we can get some good results and the luck of the draw.

We've won it 3 times in the last 35 years, last time was 1999 under GG; (bad image of Judas holding the cup and memories of GG screwing up the tie with Kaiserslautern by dropping Ginola). Big Maart deserves a medal, or two please.

Come on you spurs!

MK Dons 0 5 Spurs

Well done boys, professional seems to be the word best used at present.

I wasn't that far off in my team selection. Anon 7:37. Good idea to rest the full backs and King and give Cerny a game. It shows that we have a strong squad as the midfield and forwards are all recognised first team players despite being a weakened team.

Next 2 games Watford away and Bruges at home. expect to see berbatov involved in both these games.
