They Shoot Horses

The performance against Newcastle wasn't actually dreadful. Rather the scoreline reflected a workman-like determination on behalf of newcastle that has come to mark their post Souness run. So that aside, where did Tottenham go wrong? Last thing's first, Jenas' miss in the secod half was intollerable. As were BOTH of Edgar Davids' fouls on Bowyer. The first foul was a penalty too and perhaps if Bowyer had made a little more he might've got a little more. The foul that earn't the spot kick was awful. The ball was arguably going out. The player on the ball was not in a goalscoring position. The foul consisted of both Davids both clutching Bowyer and shoving him. This is play straight out of the 'John Terry Book Of Soccer Skills' and consequently, is not what I expect fromSpurs. Much has been made of Davids decline after the leg fracture. Certainly his passing was erratic, both in terms of accuracy and power. Davids was playing deeper here, possibly in a holding/attacking on the break position. Consequently, the replay shows that it was Davids that failed that continue his marking run on Bowyer who was left therefore with space to hit home in the 65th second. I felt whilst much of the criticism was deserved, the spleen ought have been vented at Jol. Davids don't pick the team. I fear that Jol bought too heavily into the whole 'hard man' guff and what we got was a string of substandard games from a player reduced to trading on his reputation. Van Nistleroy had a bad injury last year and it was ages before he was 'right'again. Common sense dictates that we have bought Danny Murphy, a man with the highest assist rate in the Premiership BEFORE he joined us and he should replace Davids. I'm not going to continue with an account of Edgar's negatives in the Newcastle game. Because I love him too much. Suffice to say he should be rested and brought back to burst into the first squd as he did when he joined us. It would be easy to say that if he was a horse he'd be shot. But some horses come back. Beef Or Salmon, Ruud Van Nistleroy... the list goes on. Let's put Edgar on that list.

My question is; How would Edgar feel about being dropped and how does Martin feel about how Edgar would feel if he were dropped?

Why the **** did we buy Murphy anyway, was it to bring him on to mop up the damage that pillock Edgar Davids wreaks? Well 2 minutes isn't sufficient time to do that.

I was pro us buying Murphy despite the less than scintilating setting of him being at Charlton. So far he has been given virtually no opportunity and meanwhile we get what we got against The Toon.

I am totally frustrated and cannot believe MJ is screwing up like this.

And where was Defoe? Are he and Murphy so bad in training and Edgar and Mido so good we have to suffer these selections?!

I'm off to kick the cat!

Are we signing Bridge as a defender? There was an interview on Sky Sports website saying he was approached in January by Jol, but WB was banging on about Jol wanting him to actually play as a midfielder... and Bridge stated that was what appealled to him about Fulham.

I read that too, this Wayne Bridge thing has rumbled on for months now, and I for one hope even if we do get a 'special price from the special one', the lad is what we want.

quite agree. been saying for ages he needs a proper rest. and carrick. play murphy and jenas or huddlestone next time out with reid and lennon for wing play. cant believe we may throw 4th place away, its ours to lose, not others to win.

Some of the players just don't have the stomuch for a fight.
Carrick look as if he just woke up from his afternoon nap and kept losing the ball in key areas.
Gardner played hospitality to Newcastle players for the first goal.He said "Hi" to shearer and put up his hands and move out of the way of N'Zogbia for Newcastle first goal.
It's painful to see the Pitbull tearing his reputation away and made to eat his own words when he rant against his teammates earlier in the season.
Mido looked as if his mind is with his agent, arguing with the opponents and referee.
Dawson played one of his poorer matches and look lost without King.
How about this for substitution,Murphy on for Davids on the 88th minutes...time wasting tactics ?!
Just to rub it in...Jenas miss from 1 yard.I look at time and again...I could have just rolled it in myself.
One of those days...

give murphy a chance - he cant do no worse than out of form davids.
give huddlestone a chance. the two games he featured he impressed me as much as dawson did when he burst on the scene - he cannot do no worse than davids or that gardner-prick-cant-understand-why-he-still-has-a-squad-number-idiot at the back.
give ifil a chance - cant do no worse than cant-track-their-man-liabilities stalteri and kelly.
mido sub please jol - no effort in the last game to get involved and even in the highlights saw him walking alot and not pressurising the defenders. Got a big (and hairy) head.

JOL - stop worrying about upsetting senior pro's, those worth their salt will watch the video's and realise it is they that must do better and fight to get back in, if they dont like it they are not worth having and can fu*k off.
