Dos Santos - Heavier Links Than Marley & Marley...

I make no apology for my (as yet) failure to deliver a bound and gagged, rolled up in a piece of carpet, bound for Hackney Marshes, old school gangster style ITK, boldly stating that "_________" is In The Bag type, exclusive. It's tough out there.

And nay saying Mofo's be aware, I will obliterate your petty snipes with counter, quality snarls of 'Bale & of Bent'....

Modric was off the radar (with apologies to Sony's lawyers...) like no other...

There wasn't a single piece of vaguely credible insider info nor even half decent speculative press about Moreno until the Cruzeiro president confessed all under... little/ no questioning... about our bid being too low. This spurious release was designed to prompt a bidding war of course.

So UK Radio Talksport are not the exactly the font of insider stuff, but they are p u s h i n g this. There are mumbles 'after the event' but Talksport seem to be still on the high of a large night out, shall we say table talk was loose and left them... 'very confident' over Santos. So let us induldge them.

So hey, let's enjoy the speculative moment. What we DO know is THFC are out there shopping on behalf of all of us.

No? Go on the Levy.

Daniel, give me a nudge at the usual address if you've anything good? Even Spurs Odious are on the ropes...

Here's a look at another young man I have very, very strong reason to suspect we're genuinely offering money for.

forget eto get this guy with moreno and veloso and we are starting to get a team togather add 2x centre halfs and 2x keepers or one centre half as we would have veloso he can also play there look out next year we are at least 4th place if it gels!!!

Part of a deal involving Berbatov, HH?

Re the Moreno speculation - makes you wonder who uploads the vids on Youtube. Nice bit of business that, sticking a cheekily edited showcase of your client's talents on the web. Drum up some interest by a few spurious links to high-profile clubs and coaches - all plausibly deniable. A few million gets mooted here, then a few more million there, and presto! - a nice, fat wedge in the agent's pocket. Underneath the shiny surface of football is the rank odour of corruption and exploitation. And they say the fans are the hooligans!

Anyway, this Dos Santos lad looks lean, hungry and up for it: the business. Add him to the cart, anyway. Attaboy, Levy.

Well that to me is a load of gibberish. Something about Talksport, some kind of self-love over Bale & Bent and the usual insecurities and contempt for other Spurs websites. I once thought we were all on the same side! Oh yeah and the usual Harry lovers already getting ready for CL football, even though Spurs in general always have a bunch of players NEVER with the right attitude or abilities. Different managers, different players - same outcomes. Oh except when we got lucky with the right manager falling into our laps and then the people at the top showed their incompetence and stabbed him in the back. Still we can all one day dream that we will be so good that we can finish in the esteemed position of 4th, that's if the latest bunch of Carlos Kickaballs linked all join, and for their 50 grand a week actually behave like footballers when wearing the famous lilywhite. Oh yeah 4th is in the bag already. Just a question, do any of you actually follow what happens to Spurs and get some kind of realistic thought in your head or are you all so dumbstruck by the "dream" of 4th place that you actually miss what has been happening at the club for the last 20 years?

Approved player link!

And infinitely more appealing than the Mail's latest effort - £15 million for Dean Ashton. WTF? Having one player sensibly wearing an XXL shirt due to his size (our beloved THudd) is one thing... Ashton should be wearing one too, but for some reason has been in bloat denial recently and I suspect spent most of the last season squeezing into one labelled "L".

I'm sorry, but I do not rate Ashton - absolutely there's no way he's an equal to Bent. And more overweight purchases we don't need.

Unquestionably it has to be the worst link to a player yet in this window.

Dos Santos is definitely interesting. Watched him quite a few times this season, and I liked what I saw. More links like this, please! Three more months of this? Bloody hell... :-)

Richard Dunne is the player I want to see sign. You can't beat a British defence, methinks.

Hutton, Woody, Dunne, Bale; mmmmmmmm.

Primarily for being a pompous, thought shy toad.

Anti Harry rating? Barely 3/10. Too lower score to warrant being ditched.

Harry Lovers? Great phrase, one you sadly mis~use. 104.3% of Harry lovers think we're far from top four bound.

So, reread, rethink and return when you've got something other than two bob bile to 'share'.

And for the last f*cking time, lose the exclaimation marks. Are you a sub editor's grandson from a 1978 edition of Whizzer & Chips?

Sorry, but Dean Ashton is shite.

I read a review in one of the broadsheet restaurant reviews today, and apparently the Glasshouse in Kew is quite nice... ;-)

That said I could happily get by on a Sainsbury's Mature Cheddar, Soft Cheese and Celery sandwich.

The point is lots of people commonly make that mistake because it isn't a big deal to them whereas to you its you're whole existence which is sad most people know they are irish and not british but for you to have to point it out and not just overlook it makes you petty, insecure and sad dumbass

Keane and Dunne both come from Ireland which, being technically part of the British Isles, suggests they are British.

let's think about this for a second. Barca are in the middle of rebuilding process. They're look to shed themselves of the old guard in favour of a youth movement, hence the indications of Deco, gudjohnsen, ronaldinho, etc. why then would they give up dos santos, who is claimed to be the second coming of ronaldinho (pre-fat)? it must be either, that this is all bogus and was made up by some joker at the Sun or that Barcelona realises he's not all he's cracked up to be and is willing to cash in on the hype surrounding a player who has been rather fortuitously linked to the rise of bojan krkic (no word of him leaving the club, is there?). Keep looking, Damien, and stay off youtube.

My opinion of such speculation is that it is probably true in as much as these are players we are 'bidding' for.

And the stamp of player we are looking at (and the positions we seem to be looking at filling) would suggest that Ramos/Comolli are working to a 'plan'. which is nice.

But the sad truth is, just because we want and go after a player doesnt mean we will get them. Too many variables, greedy chairman and dirty agents.

I dont see why people get so emotional when we dont get a player and start getting stroppy.

As far as I am concerned Levy is the man. It might be an impossible dream that we can never achieve but he is going at it full tilt regardless.

In a world of Keeganesque defeatism (00:31)he is a fucking legend.

If anyone breaks through it will be us. Because we fucking try. And god loves that shit.

The lastest piece of chicken-sh1t on the Ashton rumour is 'Ashton could be a realistic replacement for the Bulgarian sulker at the Lane'. Yeravinalaugh. It's like comparing an agricultural vehicle to a Bentley. Comparing Bentley to a Bentley would at least look good on paper.

shanemac, you make a point about why dos Santos might not leave. And, to be honest, I'd think twice myself about swapping his lifestyle for a move to London. Of course, I'm hardly ever likely to be in that position because I'm old, knackered and too fond of beer. The bottom line may be that he actually wants to try something new, so there could just be currency in the story. I hope there is.

I'm not overly concerned about Spurs losing a core of English talent. We can't stand alone, like some footballing version of King Cnut, trying to turn back the tide. The problems contending the development of English footballers (and, more widely, those of the British Isles) are far too complex and challenging for a few, staunch, well-meaning clubs to face. Levy can trawl the world for great players, for all I care - and he looks like he is. All I want is success and glory. Go, that man.

Where I think a new dimension in particular has opened, is through Gus. Whereas me might rightly be expected to plunder La Liga, we can now, through Ramos' Lieutenant, plunder where La Liga plunders - south America.

It's quite fun, this, being footballing pirates.

Donnybay, sorry, Dannyboy,
re: the Brit/Irish mix - I thought you might be trying to wind up Bimi (again) for a moment. I wouldn't let the pedants get to you. Me Da' says it doesn't bother him, but would advise you don't utter the same error in a bar in Ballymun anytime soon - or a slapped wrist would be the least of your problems (though why you'd want to go the 'mun in the first place is beyond me).
Anyway, agree with you on Dunne - not quite as classy as Woody, but genuinely reads the game (gets Richards out of jail a hell of a lot).

I'm hoping that all these Eto'o rumours are in fact a cunning bluff to cover for our true target, Dos Santos. Eto'o has "Shevchenko" written all over him. He's not been the same since an injury ravaged season and from what I saw in the African Cup of Nations looks very much off the boil against defenders who usually grace the Championship.
Same goes for Ashton who's a decent player on his day but is rarely off the physio's table or the pies.

if Barca are desperate for Berbatov to close the gap on Real, then to an extent we hold the upper hand. Levy will/should drive a hard bargain to make sure we get the players we want in part exchange, don't see us getting fobbed off somehow, Berbatov is under contract so cannot go anywhere without us agreeing. I'd be looking for something like £15m+ and Dos Santos, with the cash we could then maybe bring in Moreno and Millito to replace Berba and Defoe without having to fork out too much out of the rest of the budget, better deal overall as Eto'o would be near as damn a straight swap cash wise, and more likely to demand higher wages, we could probably get the other three for the same fee and less wages combined.
Santos's performance last night, if the rumors of Levy headed to Barcelona are true, I'd imagine something is already part way agreed.......

Dean Ashton when he's fit. He missed the whole 2006/07 season with a broken leg and was out for significant parts of this past season as well. That's why the only news is 2 years old.

But I don't think he represents the step up in quality that we are looking for in our key signings this Summer. He's pretty good and he'll be hanging around the England setup if he can stay fit. But he isn't Samuel Eto'o. Or Dimitar Berbatov, for that matter.....
Big Belly

Anonymous said...

I agree that he's be a good addition to the squad. Dunne compensates for his lack of pace by reading the game very well and by being one of the best tacklers in the league. He's much more of a Dawson-style CB than a King-style CB, but he's definitely a good CB and would strengthen our defense considerably.

My main memory of him from this past season was his monumental performance when Man City beat Man U. He was a one-man defensive wall, tackling, cleaning up, collecting every loose ball - he was just everywhere. Micah Richards was nearly as good, but Dunne was the main man.....

Giovani and Bojan are the future of Barca and will be going nowhere. Guardiola will be building his new look Barca around them 2 kids we don't have a chance. It'll be one of the older heads we'll get if we get anyone Levy could just be over there to negotiate the maximum ammout of do for Berby.

Imagine Berby and Bojan upfront with Messi and Giovani cutting in from the wings supporting them. That would be a unreal forward line young hungry and deadly.

Antrim; Armagh; Down; Fermanagh; Londonderry; Tyrone. Are British aren’t they?

“The problem is The English won’t learn their history and the Irish won’t forget theirs”

Always seems a bit funny how some people get so upset about an inaccurate British reference but have no problems with dubious Irish/Scottish/Welsh/English lineage that enables a wanted player access to the National team.

A worthwile reason to get upset is the tragic death of Robert Dunlop in practice for the NW 200, then his son Michael winning the 250 race 2 days later.

Lumps in throats are mandatory

So I did it again and suggested a couple of options for the lunch :-)

Not that I'd hold you to it. Although I would expect your affiliation deal re: your banner ad from the big spending shirt sponsor may well afford you to do so LOL!

One exclamation mark is OK? But probably minus points for the smiley face.

Back to the real football issues now. I'm seriously hoping the Owen rumour that is surfacing is, as I surmised in previous posts of mine, part of the "99% of these links are bollocks" trend. Getting bored now. Hope it's all part of a massive smokescreen!

The media are just gutted that we conduct our transfer business in private now, so they make up twice as many rumours for us. Its like any player that becomes available is automatically linked with a few different clubs with Spurs appended to the list just for good measure. The press didn't get a sniff of Modric, and none have picked up on Amelia or Arshavin....... yet. A couple have reported on Moreno and maybe one or two on Dos Santos. But the way I look at it now is that themore you read it, the less likely it is to happen.

Is Eto'o coming. The clue is in his name: A lose me out.

Dos Santos has just had an operation on his ankle. Apparently, it went well. Question is: is he an appendix to Barca or a vital organ?

Latest unlikely player likely to be linked to a 're-moulded' Spurs side? Joey Barton. It's just a matter of time. 6 months max. Ironic that his club strip looks just like prison bars.

Kaboul to Pompey? Yeah, that's right, Harry. Europe in the bag: onward and upward. Aim for the best. (Sorry.)
