Ledley King To Retire After Final

Well here's a nasty one. Word just in from a couple of sources one of which is invariably golden, "I think it could be his last game for Spurs." another said, "He plans to lift the Cup and then retire..."

There has been a cover up job running on the true extent of King's medical health as I have been saying for a good while now. It was decided some time back by some fans who see themselves as further up the food chain than you and me that the truth was too unpalatable for us mortals and we were instead to be fobbed off into a revolving door of sicknotes various.

Would this be a disaster? Of course, irrespective of just how few games he's played in recent times. Yet since the appointment of Ramos and Poyet my feelings are that we are far better placed to weather this than ever before.

Long live the King.

That would be a sad loss, more so for King I think. The club goes on and you are right, Ramos and Co should be able to plug the gap in the summer.

Anonymous said...

Yes and I bet that if Spurs lose on Sunday this HP Source of yours will say that King wants to keep playing to try and reach the UEFA Cup Final

I just hope he takes up a role in the club working with the kids - thanks for your devotion Leds, Judas scum, take a look - not everybody with talent is a money grabbing whores son. COYS YiddoNick

I agree. Any availability is better than no availability. Would it be too much to ask if he played big cup games and or top 4 duels????? The king has served his time well and would be very sadly missed. A roylal scalp of Chelsea is the least he deserves. COYS. give it to em...

If that's true I'm afraid my view would be sod sentiment we can't risk him in the final. I really hope it isn't true, I would be very sad if it is but it has seemed hard to believe this 'only fit to play 1 in 3' line we've been fed.

Off topic, Harry, but it was good to hear only one attempt at singing the Adebayor song last night and hardly anyone joined in so hopefully those idiots who maintain it is funny will realise they are very much in the minority and will concentrate their efforts into getting behind the team – judging by last night’s abject display the team will need all the help we can give them if they are to avoid humiliation on Sunday.

I must say, the Adeybayor song is fantastic!

I was at the Derby game but sat away from the Spurs end in the hospitality and i must say that 2000 spurs singing it was awesome!

Anonymous said...

I must say.... something funny.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't be at all surprised, he was given plenty of time to get back from his operation and it sounds like he just has a chronic problem with his knee that just isnt up to top class sport.

A sad loss indeed (IMO the best defender in the PL) and a crying shame for him.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure where you was sat last night anon 2:00 but it was more than a few idiots signing the song. And it was more like 8-10 times. There was loads of people signing it.

Anonymous said...

I must say... I'm a cock. I must say...

What does hospitality in Derby have that's worth name dropping over? Silver straws for the graveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee? Cock.

Anonymous said...

I think the point he was trying to make was that there was a lot of people signing it you bell end.

Enough for him to clearly hear the song from the other end of the ground above the signing of the Derby fans! Geez!

A great player, but who in there right mind would pay a transfer fee for “The King”?

This is an insurance scam, over recent years clubs have worked out that if they force a player to retire because of the ongoing injuries they are entitled to claim against there player insurance policy. Spurs know that they will never receive a transfer fee for the “The King” and can recoup a significant amount of money because on there policy “The King” is worth millions.

Unfortunately “The King” is an asset and football is a business.

It's Them and Us said...

I was one of those that defiantly stood and said "Bullshit! He shall return and rightfully claim his place as best English defender again!" but sadly this season the writing looks very much on the wall. When he came back and bossed the backline against Arsenal it was awesome. But the lay-off since and the constant 'resting' makes you think Woodgate was not bought to play alongside our talisman, but to replace him.

Like everyone Spurs fan if it does indeed turn out to be his last match wearing the sacred shirt (I'm hoping we make the UEFA Cup final and he goes out with two winners medals) then he deserves to go out holding the trophy aloft. When Judas left a lot of us were worried.. but he took over and proved to be even better.

Out with two trophies, two winners medals, and his legendary status set in stone.

sirled. Welocme back. Looking forward to signing some good old fashioned n*gger songs on Sunday. I trust? Or you all sung out after Derby and Prague???

Anonymous said...

why would he have been called up to the last england squad if cappello knew that king was never going to be fit again surely he would have left him well alone, i think that this site is just trying to get a few hits, if i'm wrong i'll hold my hands up

Anonymous said...

The adebayor song was quality on the train back from Derby as a laugh but in all the actual song sounds a bit wank. "His dad washes elephants"........how crap is that??

Adebayor is a prickand does ned to recieve the abuse but we can do better than that.

Was anyone queuing in the station after the game? Derby got absolutely abused.

Anonymous said...

Well if the song was sung as much as you say it was I certainly didn't hear it but far more importantly IT DIDN'T INSPIRE THE TEAM DID IT SO PLEASE SING PRO-SPURS SONGS ON SUNDAY INSTEAD!!!

sirled said...

I will not dignify your moronic comments by making any repost!!! But what I will say is, though I feel this will be a waste of time!!! As you can not reason with stupidity!!! my opinion on said song was that it was not racist, I at no time condoned the song. Why do people post annon..... pathetic

Anonymous said...

The Vieira song was equally racist (you're mum's a cannibal).

But let's not get our knickers in a twist. Racism is just another form of stereotyping that has been branded evil by society because it underscores society's ills, but actually, it's just a form of stereotyping like any other.

Let us hope that we do see cap'n king lift the trophy. It'd be a pretty good note to end on. On a bit more of an irrelevant tack, i thought of a song for Jamie O'Hara while pushing to get into the stands last night...

Think of the Hava Nagila song:

Hara, Jamie O'Hara, Jamie O'Hara He plays for Tottenham

or substitute the last line for

Hara, Jamie O'Hara, Jamie O'Hara He is a yid-i-o

etc...

Summerspur said...

harry, if its true, what was the logic in naming him in the last england gathering.

surely your not suggesting a lack of communication betweem the FA and clubs.

Anonymous said...

Ok, all the people out there wavng the racist flags, what exactly is a Yid?

And as for the song not encouraging the team last night, no it didn't. But then again, which song did because i didn't hear a single one that had any effect on the team!

If this is true, it's a real tradegy for Ledley and the club.

I personally believe that he is the best all round English centre back for the last 10 years. He should have had so many more caps.

I think that any announcement, if true, will be made at the end of the season, just in case we reach the UEFA cup final.

Anonymous said...

Summerspur it@s an insurance scam mate. Ol Levy's hardly likely to declare to the FA he's quacked. "Name King, of course you can." But who then it their right mind is gonna pick a player that gets a game a month?

what a load of bollocks, its been said many a time before that Ledley is going to retire, it never happens. Not saying he wont retire early, but not after the final, he'll battle through and play in key games this season.

"He plans to lift the Cup and then retire..."...like so many of us then Harry, he will probably retire unfulfilled, especially if Ramos treats us to another display like Thursday's.

love the king. would be absolutely gutted if he retires.
but...there are always other players, other big hitters.
please god we do the scum and do the uefa and keep hold of berba
would be gutted if he left considering he looks as if hes got his swagger back
also thought of a berba song

to the tune of frankie valli's 'your just too good to be true'

We love you, DIMI,
And if it's quite alright,
We need you, DIMI,
On those cold cold nights.
We love you, DIMI.
Trust in SPURS when I say:
Oh, DIMI baby,
We love you so so much,
Oh, DIMI baby, with your magic touch
Oh DIMI baby
Trust in spurs when we say

I cannot possibly comment on Setanta. Other than to strongly recommend you buy your subscription from clicking on their ad on THIS blog.

Here is some more of my lies for you on King. His knee/s condition is such that after playing a full game he's in really bad pain and has had to have fluid drained on several occasions. There is also a recurrent hip problem.

I don't want this to be true, but it is. And YOU will be able to tell people... hand upon heart, you heard it here first.

You ignorant little bedsore..

:0)

danny you donk, that's an interview lifted from Hotspur magazine.

Anonymous said...

Wow!
My initial reaction is to angrilty try to shout you down and call you a lying wanker but..........
the more i think about it the more true and realistic it sounds
As a spurs supporter i will be gutted - not jut for the club but also for the man - a true gent and professional - the potential (even now) to be the best defender in the league
Every faith in Ramos and Levy - if we dont have King anymore he will be treated with dignity and the vlub will move n with Ledley in a coaching role

the annoying thing is that your story makes sense in Robbie Keane's quote about letting Ledley King lift the trophy.

Still how many times have people written rumours on the internet without it being true

Harry Hotspur said...

Yeah but I'm HH and whiist I am a wh*re...

I am not a fibber.

Anonymous said...

Oh yes you are!

Anonymous said...

Great player. But lets face it, why would he retire? This would void his contract and give him no income? Surely he will just see his contract out - otherwise he'd be a bit stupid!!

Anonymous said...

Nice one Harry. Just worked out why Judas left cos of twats like you.

Ledley King has hit out at the smear campaign suggesting he might never play again because of his injury problems.

The Spurs skipper has played just six times this season but boss Juande Ramos is ready to play his most influential defender in Sunday's final. King said: "There were rumours flying around but I knew they weren't true.

"Sure, my comeback took a bit longer than I would have liked but there were never any doubts in my mind that I was going to play again. There were some tough days. But I always believed I was going to come though."

Anonymous said...

Ooooh, I get it. I'M MAKING HIM POORLY.

How stupid are you? I mean do you get hit by traffic a lot? Do you point at planes?

Unknown said...

can hardly say this is suprising news. hope it isn't true but the fact that the lad has needed a months odd rest suggests to me his knee is more than a bit buggered.

it really would be fucking annoying because like Berba, King just oozes class when he plays.

he goes months without a game and just slots back in like nothing happens. FUCKING INJURY!!!

its a crying shame is what it is.

Anonymous said...

I am glad it looks like you got this one wrong Harry!! ;o)

Harry you really are a tw@t why report such ribbish.
This is surely the worst Spurs news site on the web.
Report decent articles not rehashes of what rumours have said before.

Why spread this story before our biggest game in years? What does it feel like to know that the captain of the club you support thinks you're a cunt?

Harry Hotspur said...

That's me told.

I shall scrap the story at once and run photoshop piccies of Spurs lifting the Carling Cup BEFORE kickoff.
