Spurs In Europe: Prematch Prattle

Training yesterday...

Despite the Carling Cup Final a loomin' I think JR will still field a decent side against this lot. They need beating. And whilst they weren't too easy on the eye, they didn't kick bits out of us at any stage really either. We can only pray that no one twists an ankle or an eyelash...

Team? The mumbles are that choirmaster Robinson will return tonight... let's hope if that's the case he's mended. I expect O'Hara to start and would dearly love Bent to start as well. A goal or two from Benty would be just the ticket to get him in the mood for the Wembley bench. That sounds harsh, but they all need to be fired up, whatever their role, eh?

Spurs are very much favourites and you aren't going to get rich here. 2-0 to us is 7/1. More appeal might be from something like Woodgate to come up and do the business from a corner as an anytime scorer 11/1.

Televisual coverage is just ITV4, so good luck with that. But should you get stuck don't forget our old fiends at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/london.shtml .

2-0 says me. Bent and..... ooh go on then, Chimbonda.

I think the boys will realise they f*cked up last week and need to sort it out and kill it off early this evening. Keano muttered this much in the interview straight after the game. Start well with the strongest 11 then substitute as required in readiness for Sunday's run out. Bent should expect to feature this evening with Tainio and O'Hara too.
Not sure about the Hoddlestone or Zak quandry though.....

Ivan and Jons links go to infected sites - DO NOT USE THEM

It will be a strong team to start the game then we will score a couple and kill the game off,so he can take his major players off early as well.

How comes idiots like Jon and Ivan come on here! Go and infect the gooners site, it'll give them something to look at on Sunday!

Fortunately I live in the UAE and all those sites are blocked and saved me the embarrassment of opening it up in the front of my colleges!

I think the boys'll finish it off early tonight, I'd like to see Peckhart and Tarabat get a run out.

Anyone still waiting for their tickets for Wembley?

Still to receive mine, getting worried.

11.12am

Based on past experiences (this season) with our lack-lustre ticket office I would be extremely worried... better get in the call queue now if you want to speak to them before the game.

I agree with Dannyboy, start with a strong squad and sub. once comfortable, would be the ideal. However, I think Slavia Prague will provide more of a test for us this week and we will need to maintain our focus and endeavour for the full 90+minutes.

I was/am in the same position - but mine has just "arrived". Well, sort of - the postie's left a dreaded red card telling me I've got a "special delivery" letter to sign for. But I can't pick it up for another 24 hours. They like to leave you dangling, don't they?

nice to know they are concerned about true fans, who spent a little extra money to get to the game

well this is pure shite so far...

so many back-passes to Robbo i think he's been on the ball more than any other player

so frustrating..these lads are supposed to be playing for a place in a cup-final team not protecting themselves..

i'm praying for a Slavia Prague goal to liven our boys up..

right here we go for the second half...

by the way how Slavia are more deserving of a Champions League place than we are is beyond me..

my prayers have been answered..

now come on lads..

that was shocking..we should be out of the UEFA Cup right now lads..

everyone bar Woodgate was shite...

Setanta match report quote...regarding the equaliser

" Pascal Chimbonda was far too busy looking to join in with the attacking side of Tottenham’s play to take much notice of Daniel Pudil’s cross from the left"

Sums him up Harry. Hope he's out on Sunday. He's a fcuking liability. And did Robbo really deserve the plaudits? Spurs looked nervy in defence, and defence starts with the keeper. I'm praying Juande just gave Radek the night off. He deserves to be there for his overall performances IMO. Bring back Cerny... agree with bimitar there.

Well that i think was the worst performance from the squad since Ramos took over. I am prepared to put it down to all eyes being on Wembley and in fairness how do you approach a game like that knowing you are just a couple of days a way from a Cup Final at Wembley. As a player you must be thinking about holding back a little and not getting injured or to tired and then you end up in no mans land which is where we seemed to be for most of tonight.

Hopefully we can now focus totally on the Final and rise to the big occasion which seems to bring the best out of us at the moment. If we can get a victory over Chelski then that should really help us to lift our form for the remaining UEFA Cup ties and we will need to to have any chance of progressing.

One concern is still our ability to retain possession. We always seem to give the ball away to many times and put ourselves under pressure.

Good save by Robbo but once again he gives possession away to much by hoofing the ball. Cerny throws out to feet more often and that helps us build the play.

Thought Zokora looked sharp tonight as well but he needs to threaten the opposition more with foward runs. He has phenomenal pace when running at teams.

Huddlestone still gives the ball away to much and gets knocked off the ball to easily for my liking. Shades of Martin Chivers.. built like a brick shithouse and yet lacks that something that would make him one of the greats.

Bent... tried hard and was unlucky not to score but is definitely second tier behind Keano and Berbs. 16 million well and truly spunked IMHO...

Cant wait for Sunday... just got a feeling Berba will be so up for this as will the rest of the lads...

10.27 - the mistake was O'Haras who let his mark slip behind him. The lack of our D being able to trap at all was another huge factor. Also, the Slavia keeper took several crosses just like that one out of the air, which Robbo never does.

Chimbo was absolutely dominating, his best night by far since the transfer window opened. He and O'Hara were the only bright spots we had.

I thought Slavia had a great game plan for beating us, that I'm surprised more teams don't employ. They shut down our wide players at midfield with tight marking and dared us to attack down the middle, where they knew we are very weak, and it really showed. Terrible game all around - almost as bad as the Reading match last month.

We weren't that bothered and were pretty awful but went through. What does that tell you about us and the CL dropouts? They all badly want to play in the final(who wouldn't?); it'll be a different team, attitude and game on sunday. The central defence pairing & Jenas's form will be key. Everyone has to have a good match.

Go on the Spurs!
