A Big Fat Rumour About A New Spurs Goalie

I'll cut to the chase, the name in the frame is now Marco Amelia.

An at best, bizzare collision of interplanetary forces, if not sources, nudge me into running this as viable (for the next window).

Word is, the Livorno keeper is, like good fortune for a many a hopeful couple down the IVF clinic 'in the pipeline.'

Marco Amelia's agent Carlo Pallavicino has declared his client has been 'near to Tottenham' on Italy's RadioRadio, during this latest, now closed window.

"Is lacking only the time for end the trade, but was all done".

Not so much our boys in Bletchley needing the heads up then this time, rather the ones in Old Compton Street.

So what of Robbo? At time of posting the poll says 68% support a PR comeback. Go on the Dannyboy...!

Yes, that's right. It's my grandmother in goalkeeper fancy dress and the footage still looks passable.

World class keeper can't see him coming to us though i think milan will get him in the summer they've been after him for 2 seasons.
Any videos on gilberto yet harry?

The Gilberto vids currently available are pretty weak... still looking. May have to make our own!

Jenaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas! With DB, was made by Cole, but fair play to the fella for doing it right.

Harry, Sorry but I've Got to moan about your first paragraph on this post (Well 2nd if you count the first sentence.) It took me three read throughs to understand what you were saying. Either my dyslexia is flaring up or your usual high standards slipped a bit. Im sure it wont happen again.

On tonight's evidence I don't think Robbo has too do much to get back into contention for his England place. If he gets a few games at spurs and gets back to his best he should be an automatic choice. Robbo at his best is better than James. COYS!

Harry Hotspur said...

Any better?

We have not got England's number one; I love PR for his loyalty but he is far from No1 in England let alone the multitude of nationalities we have in the Premiership at the moment. He, for his own sake needs a massive arse-kick and I hope he reacts in the right manner. I genuinely wish he achieves his potential but at the moment he is second-rate. Sorry!... BTW, I'm f**king happy that Sky Andrew hasn't managed to get his Satanic teeth into Defoe. God bless you Jermaine for being your own man, be lucky!

BTW Harry, I was the pissed prick that emailed you about the Defoe-Sky thing... I was hyping up Mr Keane as the most under-rated player in the Premiership. I'm happily surprised that JD has gone his own way leaving the agents to fight it out!

P.S. Ramos is a tactician, Jol was not. Good luck Martin but Juande is someone you should learn from. COYS

goal for JJ, but how disgusting he looked in red

Anonymous said...

err....he can't catch. Every single "save" is a block or a punch. How is Amelia better than PR or RC?

Anonymous said...

dannyboy I was thinking of you when JJ scored. I am genuinely pleased for him and thought he did OK.

Interestingly, Shearer suggested he was a player who lacked confidence which may explain some of his more disappointing displays. When he's on song he is so creative, he ghosts into great positions and adds a lot to the team going forward and he is certainly doing more at the back. If he can stop himself drifting out of games he could become a seriously good player.

And as you know I would so enjoy being proved wrong having said quite recently that he and Zokora would both be gone in a couple of years !

Mind you I am still 100% certain I am right about DZ.

I feel that it is best for all concerned if Robbo is replaced in the Summer - we want to be a top 4 side, Robinson is not a top 4 team keeper. He is, or was, England's number 1 when the only real alternative was Calamity James.
As much as I like Robinson his form over the last 18 months has been very average with a catalogue of mistakes - I've lost count of the amount of crosses he has flapped at, or long range shots conceded.
If he returned to the first team even the smallest error would be highlighted in the press, Cerny made a terrible mistake aginst Man U for the third goal in the FA cup recently and it was hardly mentioned - can you imagine the fuss if it had been Robinson.
Time for a new No 1 at the Lane, as for who that should be - I've got no idea.

Anonymous said...

Harry, what with the handling of Jol, and our goalkeepers errors, we've had 2 kinds of PR disasters this season...........
I'm here all week.

Anonymous said...

This guy cant catch for s***. We should try get Akinfeev.

Anonymous said...

Looks like a great shot-stopper, but so is Robinson. The question is can he catch? I'd like to see a few clips of him coming out to collect crosses.

Anonymous said...

Reading on the beeb bout all these fecking players who played well 4 ingerland..... For me Jenas was brilliant. What can he do, skin(the arse) and fook Man U. It maybe the Swiss but what more can he do????? BTW Rooney neva Scored ;-)

chiversmetimbers said...

Very eyecatching....however, if we are going to get a new goalie...do you think we could get one of those old fashioned ones...you know one of the ones who used be able to catch a ball instead of punching it intp the path of on rushing forwards and hoping his defenders clear up the mess.....just a thought!

CARLING CUP ISSUE"
hey fellas, ive read all the stuff about season ticket holders v members getting tickets to carling but spare a thought for those of us that are overseas that are desperate to go to a cup final game. I am flying 10,000 miles for one week to see Slavia Prague and to see my beloved spurs play in the cup final. Im paying about $AUS3000 (900 quid) for airfares, probably about 500-600 quid for a ticket from a tout and accomodation on top of that. I understand the need for season ticket holders and corporates getting a ticket before others but also dont forget what us poor sods who have decided to emigrate to warmer climates have to put up with when wanting to follow spurs from down here. I have taken an unpaid leave of absence from work for a week, the missus has been told to get stuffed and stop moaning about the car payments and new plasma we bought before xmas and my rugby league supporting bank manager scratched at his head when i told him to "big up" the credit card limit for a football game in london. Yes i can hear the screams from you people that im not a "week in week out supporter" but you know what, i've supported my team from down here for the last 25 years and will not let anyone get in my way in finding a ticket. Tout or no tout i am going to pay the money and find a ticket. if its 500 quid well so be it, if its 1000 quid my missus will decapitate me when im back but at least that will be after i watch Keano lift a cup at wembley!!! COYS from a down under fan that reads all the stuff you boys write every day...bless you all but i am not apologetic about buying from a tout for such an occassion. What choice do i have - season ticket is no use to me!!!

Anonymous said...

if you show only the highlight of all saves that Robbo has made (instead of the errors ) Robbo is 10 x better.

Robbo's ball distrbution from freekicks and goal kicks m is excellent....goalkeeping job is not just to make save.

Anonymous said...

Let's get this straight. It'll be King lifting that trophy on Feb 24, you pessimistic antipodean bastard ;)

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the info HH i hope this keeper is as good as his video makes him out to be.Because imo Robbo has had his day.

Anonymous said...

5 mins of great clips, about 100 saves I reckon and he managed to catch a whopping big zero of them.

Anonymous said...

Cheers for that Harry. Would be great if we do get him, he looks good - good footwork, good long distance saves, good punch

Didn't see that many crosses to decide on that though. Anyone know more?

Anonymous said...

what kind of dosh are we talking for him Harry?

Anonymous said...

hey pompeyyid, pessimistic - maybe, antipodean - most definitely, but actually thinking that King will be fit enough for the game in the first place AND on top of that, in the off chance that he is fit, the fact that he would be able to last the whole game - well thats just the final straw! :) but COYS to you anyway...
Harry, any chance you know of anyone wanting to flog tickets off for exorbitant prices??? email me at imasuckerandwillingtopayanyprice@hotmail.com

shanemac said...

shots that you can catch are usually easier saves. he looks bloody incredible to me.

shanemac said...

mind you, robbo's made some seriously amazing saves this season as well. it's the positioning that's the issue. any good videos highlighting amelia's positioning? ha, that would be the most boring vid ever, methinks.

Anonymous said...

Harry I think its about time we all got together to think of a proper song for our England goalscoring midfielder JJ. If what Alan Shearer said yesterday is true about him being a confidence player then surely having 40 thousand Yiddos singing out his name before the cup final will surely help him improve even more than he has already?????
How about posting a feed Harry boy???
see what you can do HH as im thinking that its down to you to make sure we win that cup!!! no preasure!!

bueller said...

Unrelated obviously but.........

Our recent successes are because we have eliminated errors. That is done by removing the people that make them, irgo Kaboul and Robinson. There should be no way back for either. Next on the list should be Dawson.

Anonymous said...

depends how they allocate them though.

Harry Hotspur said...

No mention of monies so far.

Not sure about the comment in support of PR's kicks. Whilst it's a tactical issue, obviously, my gut instinct is that we have enjoyed better possession with Cerny as he often throws powerfully to a man rather than creates a 50/50 ball by hoofing up towards Berba.

And that's another thing, you want to drive Berba out, one ploy would be to keep whalloping the thing past him straight to the other lot's defenders...

Sulky? I'd be raging.

just my humble opinion H, but it looks like the boy has talent, his positioning looks good, but doesnt seem to be able to hold onto the ball.. in the EPL we will concede alot of goals from his initial saves and then being banged in, this isnt like the italian league, maybe we need to get him a sponsor for superglue

Anonymous said...

Agree with you Harry about Cerny distribution. Often wondered if Robbo was scared of finding his man with the ball rather than giving it an optimistic wallop. Frustrates me and I'm only watching. Penny for Berba's thoughts.....

Anonymous said...

Whoever mentioned Robbo's distribution should get back to the basics of a decent goalkeeper: Make saves, catch crosses, know when to come off your line and dominate the six yard box.

That's what we need if we are to challenge the top 3.

If Robbo can do that play him otherwise we need someone else.

By the way mate, nice one on the home shirt, cheaper than Littlewoods!

Sod the rumour about a new goalie!!!

The real issue to discuss is the total greed by premier league clubs, including ours:

The Premier League has revealed that it is considering bold plans to add an extra round of games which would be staged outside England.

The top-flight clubs have agreed to explore the proposals, which could come into effect for the 2010/11 season.

"All that was decided that as a major league, it is something that we ought to examine. We do have lots of overseas fans that are unable to come to matches played in the UK so I think it is something that should be explored."
Tottenham chief executive Daniel Levy

Re: 4 ever hopeful 1.37

Sad to say, I'm with you. I years ago lost the ability to give my full support to players at Spurs, just because I like them or they tried hard. They either consistently do the job at the required level, or go. Dawson needs to develop quickly under Wendy or do a good job for say, reading, west ham or newcastle.

Oh and Harry, I'm hoping for a big juicy diatribe article on the preposterous idea put forward by the most unabashed exponents in the art of unbridled capitalism. These grasping, pound sign eyed tossers have no shame it seems. And I love the way they talk disingenuously about 'evolutionary change'. As if what they're doing is part of some natural, organic & unavoidable process, as opposed to an excercise in avarice.

EPL matches abroad? I've been expecting it.

That's why we had Super Bore at Wembley. The New Football World Order is coming. Super Bore was a vanguard action. It's coming, whether we want it or not.

That's why Levy wants Champions League Football. He's cute. He's thinking years ahead. He knows where we're heading, and he's determined to be part of it. You either get on this fast-train to capitalist utopia or you get left behind in the backwater. This train is a juggernaut. It will roll over you if you stand in its way.

Scudamore will get lambasted, but it's far, far, FAR bigger than him. He's just doing what he's told. Mind you, he's in a position that enables him to say 'This is not a good thing.' But he won't. Socialist football is dead. Like Socialism. Globalisation here we come. Haves and have-nots.

Sometimes I couldn't give a sh*t about Spurs any more. The team I love and the game I love is transmogrifying into Moloch. Clubs all aspire to become money-spinning brands. It won't get any better.

And Gareth Southgate says this is news to him! Get with it, dude. Open your eyes. As for Keegan, people warned him the game had moved on. But even they didn't know just how much.

But I can't stop loving you, Spurs. You're a changed, old lady, but I still see you as beautiful and as fresh as you were in your youth. I want to let go, but I can't.
