Best Wishes To The Butchered Da Silva

I just want to extend sincere best wishes to Eduardo Da Silva. Any Spurs fans who can't cope with this can of course, whistle.

Hey, First I run a piece spelling the end of King's career and now a gooner friendly one. This blog is in total free fall, I tells yer...

The extent of the injury is horrific. Irrespective of the jersey on his back no player ought to have to risk such an attack. Taylor? They say the camera doesn't lie and I deliberately include a snap that does him no favours.

Anyway, I'm not going to dwell on this other than to say I genuinely hope the authorities can cause the retard Taylor as much distress as he has caused Da Silva. Rubbish like him shouldn't be allowed to play the game. It wasn't an accident. This type of challenge is outlawed precisely because of this consequence.

Now, good karma duly dealt, I'm off to win a pot!

BIOYC!

Totally agree. Personally think the kids career is over. If the break was higher up the leg he would have a better chance but on the ankle joint? I just pray the less cerebral members of our support don't sing anything about it today. COYS!

is he actually fucking SMILING in that photo???? what a prick. good of you to show some sympathy for the lad though HH.

getting properly nervous about the game now.

is pre-afternoon drinking acceptable on such a day as this...i think so!

In all fairness taylor wasnt even looking at eduardo when he did it, he was clearly focused on winning the ball but because of the speed in which the game is played and of the players these things are going to happen unfortunately. The ban he recieves from the red card is sufficient enough without morons like wenger calling for a life ban for something that happened in a split second. A bigger ban, mind you should be handed out to gallas for his despicable reaction in front of not only the crowd but a live television audience. Kids watching that will assume that is the way to react when something doesnt go your way and for someone in his position getting paid the money he does, its disgraceful and should be punished. Now to the matter in hand im going to break out into song.....que sera sera......:D COYS!!!

Taylor did nothing wrong. went for a tackle and just got unlucky. he didnt set out to do that. so shut it harry you tosser! thought you were a yid. bollocks his career is over, he will be back next season doing sod all again. stop dramatising and over exagerating shit!!plus he is a gooner so who cares if his fucking head falls off!!!

This was at best a 50/50 challenge by Taylor and I would like to see that kind of 'tackle' banned and permanently out of football.
Maybe it is time to award bans the lenght of the victim's lay off period. That would make the spoilers think twice about risking the 50/50 challenges...and it would give flair players fair play to the benefit of all football lovers.

Anonymous said...

shit tackle no doubt. But these sorts of tackles occur at least once a week.

Steed did similar against City.

If the players gets up the defender/robbie savage was being tenacious. If he doesnt get up he is a thug who should be banned.

Unfortunately for every tackle that is genuinely mistimes - there is a fully intentional 'show him who is boss early on' ridiculous challenge. Watch Terry/Carvalho go through Berbs/Lennon early doors today, it WILL happen.

There needs to be consistency in punishment whether it breaks a leg or misses. Because at the moment it is only a 'bad' tackle when it ends a career.

Chopper Harris was boasting in the Sun about how he used to be able to go through the back of a player and boot him in the air.

And apparently he is a old school 'legend'. Sounded more like a chelsea hooligan to me.

Anyway, that is going to be potentially a career ender so no point being anything less than sympathetic or at least keeping schtum. Afterall, Chances are he doesnt 'play' for arsenal anymore.

More importantly however BRING IT ON YOU CHELSEA CUNTS.

How would like to be at the end of a tackle like that..Yiddo or not.Don't be silly.I supported Spurs for 25 years but I wished not such an injury on anyone.Gooner or not.

Stop being stupid..

Nice one Harry. Of 'course I don't believe for a second Taylor meant to hurt him...

You see tackles like this every week or so if you watch enough football; players sliding in with one leg about 6-12 inches off the ground. Normally, the contact sweeps the player off the ground and a yellow or warning is given. The key difference in the Eduardo tackle is that his foot was planted, with his blades or studs firmly in the ground and the full weight of his body going through his leg.
If you look at the mechanics of running, although contact is almost constant with the ground, full body weight is only ever put through a leg for a very short period of time.
That period is increased slightly as a player changes direction with the need to dissipate and transfer kinetic energy to change velocity - if Eduardo had not changed his direction ("go in hard" in the vernacular) then his full weight may not have been on his leg and he would 'just' have been knocked over.
As it was Taylor caught him at absolutely the worst time. Taylor's 14 or something stone travelling laterally through his size whatever boots into Eduardo's shin and ankle braced by his own weight firmly planted to the ground.

Take a look the next time you see a player knocked over by a tackle to his legs and imagine what would happen if their full weight was through their legs and their blades are rooted to the turf... thankfully this is not a common sight, but without ruling out tackling it will always be a risk.

But hey, other than that, great job.

Haha i cannot be diplomatic on this one, yes it was horrific but at the end of the day, he was a fucking gooner cunt! every day i pray 4 a munich style "disaster" 4 wenger and his boys, this was sweet but nowhere near as sweet as a plane crash would be, except if the plane was carrying the chelsea team that crashed into the scumirates whilst the scum were playing west ham!

"make the spoilers think twice about risking the 50/50 challenges"

So only those deemed talented enough are allowed to go for a free ball if it's 50/50.

Eduardo I seem to recall going studs up knee high into Nani last week, with one intention because he wasn't paying any attention to the ball, what goes around...

Unknown said...

having looked at it again i dont think he meant to do it.

and its very true that similar sorts of tackles like that happen week-in-week-out, this one just went pretty badly.

as for the numnut who prays for a munich disaster for arsenal and chelsea, i severely suggest you get castrated and do the world a favour.

you are an absolute cunt.

Well done for having the maturity to print this. I can only imagine how this has enraged your critics as yet again you've demonstrated you are a decent chap. My prediction Harry is 1-1 with us losing on penalties. Sorry for the negativity but I have lost faith in England's so called number One.

Half Time. I said it a few days ago on another blog. Robbo cannot deal with things he has to think about, i.e. any thing long range where he can see it coming. He never looks capable of reaching top or bottom corner shots. He's not up to it anymore. Every fan I now panics more when Robbos between the sticks and the ball comes in than when Cerny was in. He's going to cost us this final! Of and someone give Lennon a talking to. He looks a bit overwhelmed.

Harry, long time reader, first time poster. If you honestly think that Taylor was acting malicious for the injury, you are in fact an idiot. Have you never played football in your life at all??? The tackle was mis-timed, thats it!!! Yes, I am a Spurs supporter but I am sorry for Eduardo's injury, nobody deserves that, but it was a freak injury from a mis timed clumsy tackle. You should be ashamed of yourself for showing the still picture of Taylor appearing to smirk, if you have ever played football you would know that no player would ever wish that on anybody. Watching the build up to todays game they kept showing Crouch's two footed tackle on Mikel, now that was a lot worse than Taylor's tackle, but the consequences weren't as severe. But there weren't cries of ban Crouch for life was there??? I've played football for many years and have done bad tackles unintentionally, even on some of my best friends!! Eduardo got caught by a late tackle, his studs were obviously caught in the turf and he suffered for it, it was a freak accident from a mis timed tackle, enough said. I hope the guy gets better soon, just don't join the band wagon and criticise Taylor. There have been hundreds of worse tackles out there that fortunately haven't resulted in compound fractures.

My view is that a tackle formed with at least ONE VERY STRAIGHT LEG such as Taylor's is at best woefully inconsidered ...at worst the actions of a B*st*rd.
Either way the pr*ck MUST be removed from the game.

I'm unaplolgetic on this. Da Silva Saturday, Berba next week?

Ben Thatcher was ruined eventually. As too should this THUG.

I normally agree with you Harry, but not on this one. Taylor deserves the red card and ban but not an extended ban on top of that. Frankly I've seen Malbranque make worse tackles than that this season, flying in with two feet off the ground. I also think the still-shot of Taylor smiling is totally out of context - if you look on the live pictures he has a wry smile on his face at the ref, and I'm personally convinced at the time he was thinking about yellow/red cards and didn't realise how serious the injury was. When it became apparent he approached Edouardo and his whole demeanour changed.

Truth be told, I don't feel much like sticking up for him, but it's all too easy to be caught up in a lynch mob. Best wishes to Edouardo of course, and I hope he gets back on the pitch before too long.

Fantastic win today. COYS.

well done today spurs we looked in control and threatening for large portions and refused to let chelski find any rythym.

robbo stayed error free when we needed him, defence made no real noticeable errors, jenas and lennon towards the end opened up the game a little, SOMEONE MADE A PENALTY...

and woodgate..thank you sir

all i'm saying harry, is i asked you to put up a post for eduardo pre-chelsea, you did...

ergo we won the fucking cup!!!!

that tackle was shit, anyone standing up for taylor have themselves never played. i've played my whole life at a very decent level and guys like that can ruin a game (i'm three knee surgeries in at this point all from one terrible tackle) and a life.

eduardo is an excellent player. no one who's seen his instincts this season can deny that. other than the color of his shirt he's been a pleasure to watch. i'm sorry for him and wish him nothing but the best.

and now to rewatch the game. the giants...spurs...i think this is my lucky year.

Are you all mad? Harry are you secretly a gooner? This is fucking ridiculous. It was a 50/50 ball and he caught Eduardo. Don't try and make Taylor seem like a prick by posting that photo because if you watch the footage, you can he see he knows hes made a mistake and his demeanour completely changes! He was gutted and resigned to being sent off.
Listen to all the pros and ex-pros who have said it was a yellow card. How many of those tackles have not resulted in broken leg?!
The only reason he was sent off was because the referee saw Eduardo's leg hanging off.
And to the idiot who said:

"This was at best a 50/50 challenge by Taylor and I would like to see that kind of 'tackle' banned and permanently out of football."

If you're wanting non-contact sport go and watch netball you pansy!

It is not nice to see anyone break a leg but it was an accident and Martin Taylor does not deserve to be turned into a villain for going for a ball in a 50/50 tackle.

These things happen in football, deal with it!

Enjoy your celebrations, and from a Gooner, thanks for most of your best wishes for Dudu,

From yet another Gooner.

Thank you for your compassion and sensible view of the issue.

This is an issue that is at the heart of what true football fans want to see out on the pitch, and Spurs have a rich history of playing the beautiful game rather than the hack and hope we see elsewhere.

I still remember Glen Hoddle's awesome goal where he came in at head height and volleyed it past Peter Shilton in the Forest goal.

Congratulations on your win.

Ramos really looks the business, and your team look every bit a credit to your club since his arrival.

Right on. Appreciate the comments. Some things are more important than inter-club spite.

Now you have got a manager of worth, might see some real rivalry from down the Lane. Let's hope that DuDu is back by then to replay you in the only way we would all expect from a genuine pro!

But respect due. Good call.

A Gooner called Stroller.

Thanks and respect to most of the bloggers on here, I'm Gooner visiting when saw the title on newsnow. Also congratulations on your cup win your deserved it and am genuinely glad you won since you attempt to play good, attacking football unlike the current Chelsea outfit.
There's nothing wrong with rivalry but some of the bile between clubs is geninely nasty. Don't get me wrong I love it if we beat you, just as ou loved spanking us but let's not et the mrons take over. There's several real nasty comments on here and they have rightly been called out, all clubs(including us) have a sad, small minority of moron fans - get lives fools, it's a game.
As for for Taylor, it was a sending off yes but I seriously doubt he actually tried to break Eduardo's leg. And as for Spurs, I hope you hang on to Berbatov and not sell him to Utd if you keep hold of him it will be a real statement of intent as to where you are going. Anway enough of this niceness see you at the Emirates next year!!!

Bit of an odd post there HH. Taylor's challenge was marginally late and his studs were showing. Steed made a much worse challenge against Man City last season and it was nothing more than a side note.

These things happen in football. It's unfortunate for Eduardo, but I couldn't give a fuck much more than that.

Harry Hotspur said...

Marginally late?

Who cares if it was a fortnight early?

The net result mate was that this bloke COULD have lost his foot. I don't want to bang on about this forever, but you need to a) watch the video clip and b) perhaps imagine him in a white shirt.

The arguement that Steed or whoever did such and such vs so and so doesn't wash in the respect that Da Silva is IN hospital NOW and this REALLY happened.

Did Taylor PLAN this? I don't really think he did. I'm not mad. Is Taylor resposible for an OUTLAWED challenge? Of course he is.

I f*cking hate Ar5ena1 however nothing could be less relevant.

Goodnight Gracie.

Harry,

Thanks for the sentiments. They are greatly appreciated.

For all those who have shown less compassion, just a little word of warning. If Spurs continue to improve under Ramos, you will end up playing a style of football that is a threat to all the cloggers of the northwest. I hope you never hear the commentators and pundits proudly say that the way to beat Spurs is to "get in their face" and play with "passion".

Anonymous said...

Firstly, to harry hotspur. I commend you, I really do. As a Gooner, it's touching to see that everyone is supporting Eduardo through this time.

Secondly, to all the other naysayers, how can you wish this upon other people? Tell me, if something like this were to happen to you, personally, would you be wanting people to gloat about it? Additionally, how can you wish the Munich disaster on anyone else for that matter? The only spurs fans I enjoy talking to are ones like Harry Hotspur here, the true footballing fans. The rest of you are just whiny little 13 year olds who only just found out you won the Carling Cup, and decided to jump on the bandwagon.

Credit to those Spurs fans who gave Eduardo support. If this happened to someone like Berbatov or Keane, despite my obvious dislike of them, I would still do the same, because no one deserves this. The rest of you deserve to be banned from the game entirely, perhaps as long as Eduardo is out for?

Anonymous said...

Oh, and also congrats to the Carling Cup. Ramos is doing an awesome job, and it's nice to see another team with a 'total football' mentality unlike Chelski.

And, out of interest, I was linked here by a Goonerblog saying it was worth a read.

Just want to say, as a Spurs fan, I totally agree. It has nothing to do with rivals or typing petty, deliberately poisonous, baiting messages on the internet, It's a kid who's ploughed his life and dreams into a vocation he loves and had them literally torn up and smashed.
The issue here for me is not tearing at scraps and finding somewhere to point the finger of blame, my thoughts are with the lad, and even as a Spurs fan, I hope he makes a full and miraculous recovery so he can go on to have a fantastic career for himself.
The trauma of the incident, alone, will be huge for him.
I've read some decent things here and I've read some repulsive things here. Respect to everyone who's shown support, and to those who've taken a negative tact... wait until the day (if you're lucky) you're a parent, and maybe think back on some of the things you choose to say.

Bad tackle but dont agree with your argument at all Harry about the lad getting banned for life. Are you mental? your point about silva actually being IN hospital and that it DID happen is like saying if ten people shot at you only the one that hit deserves to go to jail. This type of challenge happens all the time and should be punished but its got to be the same punishment for all who commit it not just the ones whos hit.

Da Silva is said to be looking at a year off. Let Taylor be watching others play on Saturdays for an equal duration.

Or is equal not fair?

Next you'll be telling me it's part of the game - being mamed by a doorman in shorts....

Anonymous said...

You said "the prick must be removed from the game" and "rubbish like him shouldnt be allowed to play the game" which i took to mean you wanted him out for good. Not an unreasonable interpretation of your comments i would say.

If your talking about being banned for an equal amount of time to the injury caused then that would be fair as long as it was proven to have been done maliciously or he knowingly and wrecklessly engaged in an illegal challenge. Then the risk to themselves is equal to the risk that they pose to others...hmmmm a good suggestion sir. But lets not get carried away, could of been worse.... could of caught him in the sack!

COYS!!!!

Anonymous said...

I tend to agree with you on most things but i can't really with this. There are worse tackles on a weekly basis, this one was just unfortunate with the timing. A split second earlier or later and Eduardo's studs wouldn't have been in the ground, and he would have just been flipped over. The only thing Taylor is guilty of is being a poor defender, not a malicious one.

Like you though, i wish Eduardo all the best. No-one deserves that sort of injury and I hope he comes back from it with no complications.

Best of luck to the lad.
