Gilberto Deal..... Hangs In Balance

As well covered in the mainstream media today, Tottenham's attempted purchase of 31 year old wizard footballer and Brazilian, Gilberto went mammary glands up after the second medical examination of the player.

Much recrimination was bandied about with Levy & Co being accused of some class of cute manoever in that they then decided to shorten the proposed duration of the contract that had yet to be signed.

Now the deal is still, bizzarely and only by it's finger tips potentially still on.

The German language section of Hertha Berlin's Official site is running an update in German (cunning fiends) that essentially says that Gilberto MAY yet sign if a suitable replacement is sourced for him.

The closing words of the article reads, "Until 24.00 clock, time would be for that. We keep you current. " which HH has passed on to our chaps in Bletchley as this is clearly a coded instruction to a U Boat.

God Save The Queen & BIOYC!

Stalteri Out, Defoe out, Chimbo on his way to Toon on loan (Sky Sports News), Routledge out .. looks like the wage bill is looking to get trimmed .. hope they are saving up for someone good in the summer because nothing is going to happen tonight ..

Good luck JD .. nobody can blame him for leaving .. can't help but feel we'll regret him leaving .. (Comoli's head should be on the chopping block if this goes t/ts up)

I have all my fingers and toes crossed that JD leaves. I am fed up of hearing about how much he loves Spurs, while at the same time letting his contract run down so he can maximise his future wage packet. I am even more fed up with hearing about how he is a natural predator, and then seeing him miss easy chances such as the one he missed at the end of each of the recent Arsenal games.

spurs site says we have signed him even got a pic with him in a shirt . coys

Come on guys...no one big ever comes last minute to the Lane. The only deal will be Gilberto IF it happens at all. Sad to lose JD but good luck to him. Just hope we give Bent a fair chance to prove himself, I think he's potentially a much better player than Defoe. COYS

If JD will not sign a contract his value diminishes every window so he must go and we can bring in a midfielder, Gonzalez or Tiago, to replace him.
I think the Gilberto deal will happen but some poker being played.

Brazilian Signs!

We got it completely wrong! (sorry about that).

Gilberto da Silva has signed for us. The left-wingback, who can also operate as a left winger, has signed for an undisclosed fee. The player has signed a three and a half year deal and is a fine addition to the squad, although he may miss out against Manchester United this Saturday with an anckle knock.

We're finally building up our left side!

Official Spurs site "temporarily offline". Coincidence? About to announce the JD to Pompey move? Or something really big - like Stalteri to that nice place by the Thames?
More importantly, will 187 loyalty points be enough to land me a Carling Cup ticket?

I guess the Spurs site is still down? Probably due to the amount of hits its getting rather than a big deal. If Defoe does go and its looking likely, I think its a big shame. Not his fault he cant get a game and a chance to renew his working with Redschnapps. Good luck mate, if you go. Do you reckon a reservist will come through to make the 4 with Berbs, Keane and Bent?

Gilberto signs.........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
deadline signing but he's here. Defensively what a good transfer window for us..Hutton, Woodgate, Gunter and Gilberto and Gilberto can play left midfield as well..... this should mean we can push Zokora and Huddlestone back into more traditional midfield roles and with Jenas, Steeeeeeeeeeed, Tanio, Boetang,OHara, and Lennon and Berba Keano and Bent as front players we should be able to stop leaking goals and therefore be much harder to breakdown. We know we can attack at home and counter attack away from home so hopefully we can now steadily climb the table and have a chance of whooping the Chelski at Wembley.

I still think we need a couple of world class tricksy spaniards in the middle to open up the channels and expect to see them come in the summer... if Berbie goes in the summer then I would expect to see another world class spainish forward join....

I am happier now than for years with whats going on. We have a management team that mean business and know what they are doing... the age of Ramos is upon us.... cant wait COYS...... (are you watching and sweating you gooners..... cause you know the balance of power is gonna change......:)

Good to see some purposeful movements at the lane...nice bit of gardening so far...Bit harsh with the "stiffs" comment...Gardner & Stalteri have been good squad players...loyal....never heard no whinging from either of them....and they always did their best when picked.

I'll always remember Stalteri starting the move in his own penalty area and running/plodding the whole length of the pitch to toe poke it in at the other end in that game against the pikeys....

good luck to them both they deserve regular games let's hope they get them now.

Appartently Defoe is a Pompey fan all long. At 8 secs someone else asks Defoe is he is a Portsmouth fan to which Defoe replies ''Yes - I love them '' What a Rat!

I tell you what folks, there is some major lolly going to be spent in the next window.

Laugh at the lads who've gone, but they've gone the same.

The Canadian Carthorse and Sir Tony will both need replacing.

My guess is Rocha has promised to stay injured and is cheap to feed.

4 defenders signed for the area of the pitch we've most been suffering.

Woodgate's already put in a solid performance to earn us a rare clean sheet.

Got rid of some deadwood.

Not too bad for a short January window I suppose.

Go on you spurs!

Maureen fuck off. The deal was announced on here last week.

Harry was actually showing he'd done some research which makes you the twat, yet again. If you don't like the guy then don't log on. But more to the point, when the fuck are you gonna make a post about football? I have noticef you on here a few times now and your bollocks is always the same. Do you even go to games? So defoe cost himself the chance to play in a final to go to pompey? lol fool, why not just sit tight and go in the summer.

And now we are down to 2 strikers (i dont include Bent).

It could be worse, we could be Bolton!!! lol Rasiak they must be mad!

Pleased we finally got Gilberto. He'll be a good signing, especially when we play those people from Woolwich and Gilberto is playing.

Disappointed to see Defoe go, but it's a good move for him. Fratton Park will give him a new lease of life, and he'll miss sitters and disappear entirely from games with renewed enthusiasm. The crowd will love him.

Surprised he wasn't replaced, though. If it all goes t*ts up and we don't get into Europe, we may find the only person left capable of scoring goals is Paul Robinson.

Shocked there was no post-midnight announcement that we'd signed Lionel Messi. I thought he was in the bag.

Likewise Ronaldhino. And that tall, Dutch bloke. The one that plays in goal, whatever his name is. I understood him to be a dead cert.

As was Van der Vaart. Or so I believed.

Fortunately, Gardner and Stalteri have gone, so that makes everything ok.

So, ten out and 4 in. The Ramos era has begun in earnest. I'm only disappointed to have heard that the admittedly unlikely KPB move to villa was a fiction. I thought we'd managed to dump another utility midfielder. Maybe next time. Good to see defoe at a club where he'll probably get some games and good to see 9 mil in the kitty before his contract ended. If Gilberto is an experienced top defender still worth having, why have Germany's 12th best team sold him without a replacement? Hmmmmm........

Well said chiversmetimbers, those boys did as well as they could and done us proud. Good squad members. Good luck.

Interesting that you think we're going to have a big summer Harry, because unless we win on the 24th or finish in the top 7, I reckon it'll take more than money to drag anyone any good over to N17. Maybe time for the Spanish/Uruguayan trenchcoat mafia to do some more deep-set eyed persuading?

A bit disappointed that no one came in with a huge 'can't say no' offer for Jenas. Surprised too, after all; he's been playing SO well!

Maybe in july.

Anonymous said...

El- maybe because he was out of contract in the summer and they would of lost him for nothing? In Ramos i trust,He's Brazil's left back! give him a chance eh ,people that start being down on players before they've even seen them play do my nut!

It's Them and Us said...

Everton usually sniff around Jenas every summer, but I'm happy to see him stay. If he continues to impress and say he scores 15 goals in all competitions before signing for Chelsea will you label him a sell-out? Some fans what it both ways. The TEAM is A LOT better with him in the side. Fact.

(generic Jenas-dislike response: "I WOULD LOVE IT IF CHELSEA SIGNED THAT PIECE OF SHIT. LOL")

Surprised we were willing to allow Tainio to go though (glad it didn't happen). I thought he'd just begun to make the defensive midfield spot his own. Or maybe Ramos believes now with the defence we've got that we don't need someone screening anymore. I suppose if Steed and Jenas are in the middle you get the work ethic for players who can track back and bomb forward.

RETURN YOUNG BALE! Soon.. :-(

Good points but I'm not down on him (oooher missus) I'm just intrigued.

I also trust Ramos, it's Comolli I wonder about. With King and Woodgate's past plus the 'stuff' in the press about Gilberto's fitness test failure, excuse me if I feel slightly jittery.

Go on the Spurs!
