Alan Hutton Transfer Update

The latest twist is that Rangers are still trying to pick Tottenham's pocket and are trying to convince Mr Hutton that a move down south would yet be good for him.

The player snubbed a move to Spurs and Walter Smith said he was delighted he was staying.

The sorry reality is that this is all about David Murray being hypnotised by the money and nothing about a player wishing to move to a specific club.

Let's hope if he is offloaded on us we don't have to suffer any of the 'I dreamt of playing for Tottenham as a kid...' guff.

cheers to lisburn67!

Times are reporting this could be a goer again. Chimbonda will be less than impressed I would guess...

I just read this on The Times's website. Can you really see this coming into fruition or is The Times now trying to sell its soul for hits?

In response ap, I'll give The Times the benefit of the doubt here. If it was the Mail I'd agree it was utter tosh :-)

I can see this happening. Although big up north the reality is Rangers haven't got pockets brimming with money so £8m would be a massive amount to aid them in usurping Celtic in the league. Also this deal has had an odd feel to it even after Hutton's remarks.

Would I be happy having a player that didn't want to come of his own back? Probably not, but who can stick by their morales these days? Reality is he'd be a good addition to the squad. Lets be fair he's not just done it in SPA but in the Champs League and at International level.

For the doubters, can you recall a player that Fergie praised highly and would like to have signed last year? He turned out to be our player of the season until his unfortunate injury.

My final point, is our team is rife with slackers making the same simple Sunday league mistakes every week so any decent addition to the squad must be warmly received wether a proven quantity or not because we can all tell that Ramos has had enough and wants to prove it to some big name squad players.

PS. I like Chimbonda the solid & attacking RB but where's he been this season? Wouldn't be a bad thing to play the mercenary at his own game!

i have from a very good sourse that spurs agreed a fee with west ham of £10 million he had a medicall and then pulled out of the deal at last min on monday this was for daren bent

Staltieri, Ifill, Chimbonda, Gunter, all right backs so can someone explain what this is all about ? Because Chimbonda was brilliant on Saturday and has been consistently good since he arrived so where's he going and why did we buy Gunter ?

Anonymous said...

initially I was interested.

We don't need another Gordon Durie, getting 'homesick' and asking to leave after a season for a cut price.

Unless he will be totally committed to the cause, we'd do better to look elsewhere for this kind of money.

Plus the fact that, as I suspected, Commolli has decided Chimbo can play at CB long term....

Just buy a top CB Commolli you fool!

Couple of points, Hutton and Gunter are solid players by the sounds of it, but Chimbonda should not feel threatened or even pigeonholed by them or the news that Ramos wants him in central defence.

For all Ghod's failings, he was a damn good tactical analyst on a macro scale. He started "squads" whilst at Chelski and tried the 3-5-2 formation but couldn't get it to work. Ramos is now trying this as an alternative and it has been alright in trialing. However the system needs players who can be either attacking full-backs/wide midfield or generic defenders who can work as defensive trio effectively sweeping behing the midfield.

Chimbonda is the latter as Bale, Gunter, Lee, Staltieri are the former. I think Ramos has it in mind to be able to shuffle his pack during the course of a game adapting to circumstances as they arise, if he can succeed I'll applaud it.

Another thing about the Hutton deal tho' is the apparent lack of knowledeg of Ramos on the offer; I am kinda assuming that he's doing a wind up on the press, but what if Comolli is out there screwing the pooch again? We have three weeks to get a decent central defender, I hope all the bollocks about Cisse and other forwards is just that.

A word on Berbatov, we have him for two more years from the end of this season and then an option of another two....why on earth would we sell him and why on earth would Fergie or Chelski want him. The best result for Chelski/ManU is for Berba to help to keep the up and coming teams from getting close, sort of like a guard dog.

Also at THFC he's the first name on the team sheet and scores against ManU and Chelski opposition, maintaining the gap. He'd be a rotation player with the likes of Rooney and Drogba otherwise and as such, CL aside, wasted in the overall effort for the tops clubs to stay out ahead. If we'd been challenging in the top four/five however, I think they'd have really gone after him to weaken us and keep the "CL qualifying club" in its elite form.

If Hutton can pursuade his pregnant wife to go to london the transfer will go through and Chim will tie up his transfer to Chelski (that he is already in talks about), otherwise Chim will not be allowed to go.

And Rangers need the money.....

Rangers appear to be as excited at getting 8mil for Hutton, as we were for getting 6m for Mido. This is concerning me greatly.

I see Chimbonda is a bit put-out that Spurs are buying replacements for him. Hey, Pascal - its because you have been s**t this year.

bullshit!

catchphrase....comollii is not about to fall on his own sword....Bent is going nowhere for less than 16 mill...even then...I doubt it very much! stop reading the daily mail!

Hutton may be coming as it is now looking like manunare not interested....probably Sir Alex's praises were just a favour to Walter Smith so he can make some moolah on another "mediocre" player as lisbon67 has already pointed out....I don't see the same kind of "drama" as when Spurs signed Bale....no-one else seems to be interested....it's up to hutton if he comes to prove his worth...the jury's definately OUT here!...NEXT!

I hope Hutton comes, regardless of motive. I hope Ben Haim comes too because him and Chimbonda would be a better central pairing than anything we have currently, assuming that King, having played three times, is now due a six month sabbatical. We need fresh blood so badly and let's be realistic about how attractive we are (or not) to others. We are not going to get a better quality players than these without definite European football.

Maybe if we get through against the gooners and Chelsea beat Everton then we would have qualified for Uefa regardless of the result in the final?

Anyway, more important than all of this is the need for a change of goalkeeper. Anybody who has played the game, at any level, will know how sould destroying it is to work your bollocks off and then see a muppet like Robinson ruin all the hard work. Every single week. Just seeing him leave the club would give everybody a lift.

7 days into the transfer window and I am already desperate for it to shut. Papers used to make up rubbish in the old days but the bullshit seems to have increased ten-fold since the introduction of the transfer window.

Very low today. Does anyone know anything positive (spurs related) that will raise my spirits? And where is Grazza? Haven't seen him post for ages!!

Went to Spurs Lodge on Thursday to take a few picks and listen to the press conference and had a little chat with our man Pascal. A really nice dude, very relaxed and confident which is no surprise and also a flash brother in his blacked out lamborghini gallardo which easily won the Tottenham Motor Show. i really believe Pascal reflects the new breed of footballer who recognises the difference between a loyal one club pro and an over achieving hard working right back who must fight his corner and get the very most out of his short career. I say well done Pascal, you will achieve the helicopter.

HH do you want some pics of Spurs players at the lodge. Some in cars and a couple of Robbie and Ledley walking around. Also tony gardner was limping around like he had just been shot

"For the doubters, can you recall a player that Fergie praised highly"

I can recall a player who gets in the ManUre side only cause he's a Jock and that alone blinds Fergie to the fact Fletcher is utter shite.

After Hutton's obvious negativity about playing for us and the comments of Lisbon67 (from last week regarding his abilities) I DON’T WANT HIM.

I see this morning; Chelsea are still being linked with various right backs and we were linked with Zambrotta.

Given our general interest in acquiring a RB it strongly suggests that, far from being Chimbonda "less than impressed" its more likely that him going to Chelsea is a 'done deal' and the only thing holding it up is us getting a replacement.

anyone see Berba's interview today??

"There are too many speculations around my name, but most of them are foolish," Berbatov told Bulgarian television.

"It's absurd and I'm tired of seeing my name in the newspapers. I want to live in peace. It is getting too much.

"I am a Tottenham player and I'm trying to give my best, so I can help my team. I'm happy when we play well and I'm miserable when we lose our games.

"I'm happy at the moment. You can win titles and medals with every team and I can win with Tottenham too."

"It's ridiculous, I don't think that I'm worth so much money," added Berbatov. "I just have to do my job and score goals. I'm not a one-man team.

"Everybody in the team supports me and I've never heard a reproach or felt envy.

"Juande is very good, both as a man and as a coach. He sees even the small details that remain hidden from most people."

what can you say about that... i'm trusting him that he's staying..

Something Positive you say?!

Zokora going to African Nations! ;)

Hello Bueller hows it going?

Still in shock at how we didnt trounce Reading on Saturday - anyone else notice Berba limping? have heard nothing since so guess it must be good news for Weds night?

Tickets Came Friday, looking forward to it now......the sense of anticipation is building!

Havent got much time for Transfer rumours, have a gift for ignoring newspaper stories...but do not sympathise with Chimbonda getting the hump at all.

It seems Brookfield Tesco also remains a hotbed for Spurs activity having spied Cliff Jones and who i presumed to be the very lovely Mrs Cliff Jones in there before xmas...

Why no Fresh prince of Boateng on sat? and why is Tainio still not playing instead of Zokora?

GRAZZA said...

George: why have you got those photos?? lol

Would you like to swap them for one Nemsis has of Berba in a Tron suit in the Harry Hotspur swap shop??

HighandLow said...

Great news if the Berba quotes are accurate.

It seems with Chelski/Manure's lack of interest, he's happy to stay. I just hope that doesn't mean a return to early season form for him!

Hutton will come, not through desire of plying his trade in a more competitive league (I relent from saying better, although it is, because it gets the Scots pissed off) but because Rangers need all the money they can get.

Berba will stay. At last he speaks!

Oh, and..

4 ever hopeful:
"Maybe if we beat the gooners and Chelsea beat Everton we automatically get through to the UEFA Cup?"

As you'll recall when Wigan reached the final against United, they weren't granted a European place. It's instead added to the league qualification places.

Unknown said...

I thought the additional league placement only occurred if both teams in league cup final qualified for Europe a la last year Chelski vs Gooners. And if one team qualified but the other didnt.. the latter got the uefa place

I`d rather we play Everton in the final.. reckon we could have em!

bueller said...

Grazza,

That is positive! Great news. JJ isn't african is he? Damn.

Berb has given me better news now.

I'm fine thanks. Had an ok Christmas but horrible to be back at work.

Not going on weds. I have never been so jealous in my life!

Bastard.

Bueller,

Thing is with Zokora is his work rate is so high i ALMOST feel guilty about having a cheeky pop like that. I genuinely think he loves playing for tottenham too, although he probably cant believe his luck sometimes as some Reading reserve midfielder catches him dwelling on the ball for the 3rd time in one half.

Now Jenas, is another story but one for another time! but he is, of course, a full England international(lol)

Counting down the hours mate, counting down the hours!

Can see a Sly Stallone/Escape to victory style assault on Robbo tonight in the team hotel - a young pyo lee karate chop to the forearm should do the trick.

bueller said...

Ha Ha, I could see Sly coming in and doing as good a job as Robbo right now.

Zokora defo has the wheels. He covers a lot of ground. I have never understood why he doesn't run with the ball more as he appears to be able to run faster with it than without it!!!

Well my thoughts are with and all the other fellow yids who will be in the belly of the beast tomorrow night.

Let's hope the lads give us something to cheer about.

Threadbare squad for the game according to the BBC, any predictions Harry?

Emanuelson tells all that Davids advises him not to come to Spurs as we are a great, but not big, Club. Answers on a postcard....

Tottenham (from): Robinson, Chimbonda, Dawson, Lee, King, Rocha, O'Hara, Jenas, Malbranque, Boateng, Lennon, Keane, Berbatov, Defoe, Cerny, Taarabt, Stalteri, Tainio.

My prediction for the line-up would be

Robinson
Chimbonda-Dawson-King-Lee
Lennon-Jenas-Boateng-Malbranque
Berbs-Keane

bench
Cerny, Stalteri, Defoe, O'Hara, Tainio/Taarabt
