Newcastle vs Tottenham Hotspur: The Prematch Prattle

Large Samuel is a man his new found natives must be feeling the word 'canny' was made for.

They sit ninth and look well worth it. Only beaten by two of this season's success stories so far, Arsenal and the emerging Man City, Toon are doing a good impression of a club attempting a rebirth from no mans land.

Spurs travel with it all to do. Twenty points dropped so far this term and the history demonstrates Newcastle love us up there. They've never scored more against any other Premiership side! Forty six. Ouch. Martins got two against Mexico this week...

Spurs bring in Cerny at long last. I won't pretend to know what the deal is with Robinson, but whether the calf strain is legit or not I'm pleased to see him 'rested'. I find it impossible to believe he's able to keep a clean sheet against anyone at present. Miserable of me but fair.

We need a break in form and moreover our strikers need to wake up and bloody well score. Berbatov needs to snap out of her Sleeping Beauty routine, skin a leaden footed Geordie fullback or two and get it in.
What will prompt the Prozac are dull substitutions by Jol. I would really like to see Taarabt or The Prince on the bench. If we are losing 1-0 0r drawing it isn't the answer to then play ALL our strikers at once. We'll need someone to mix it up and hopefully show some guts.

The bookies are indulging Spurs and have this tie as a very close thing. A low scoring, close thing. Take virtually any full time score combination with two or three goals and you can get anywhere from 10/1 to 50/1.

Who me?
As ever, if we can service the strikers and not concede any goals in the last 90 seconds then we could do a job on this lot. Rattle in two or three and we'll be home in time for tea and medals.
A draw looks depressingly, a bit more likely.

Thigh Strain my a***! But are you sure Cerny will play? we have shown that we can do without a proper left midfielder/winger, So Jol might shove Defoe in goal - he's not perfect but he is desperate to play (and he won't be any worse than Robbo on crosses and high shots!)

This fixture is always either ridiculous or sublime. Sadly usually the former but occasionally we really come good, as when Alfie Conn once played a blinder in a 5-2 win and more recently Timothy Atouba scored a cracker with his right foot. Don't know why but I am actually quite hopeful this time. Weird really, our goals against record this season and against them specifically says that logically there is only one result. Please defy logic lads.

You boys will be lucky to get a point against us on monday like.

Been watching the spurs this season and to be honest they are woeful, but unsure where to put the blame?

Is it jols tactical ineptitude? Is it a battle of egos behind the scene with the players? I don't know!

The one thing I would say is likeall footy fans I want to see others challenging for honours at the top of the league, and spurs have got a team with the potential to do this, but let's wait to see that after monday when the mags hammer you 3-1.

I will be there on Monday, having booked a long weekend off work.

I know, I know, I must be mad!

Still, you have to keep the faith and as one of our best strikers said. "It's a funny old game."

I will try and give my views when I return and can get to a P.C.

Smudger.

i scored a hattrick on wednesday night at the local 5-a-side, and i whipped it out. people were scared, but ultimately, they were jealous and struck with awe.

most were scared, but i regret to inform that some were indeed scarred. it was a combination of a ginola, robbie keane, gazza, lineker and a klinsmann at the end. i received terrible burns off the artificial pitch, but it was worth it.

my transfer value in the league has gone up to 12p. or about 4 mini cheddars in pub money.

my learned colleagues are just too diplomatic, polite and good humoured. I'll say what the're all thinking - just fuck off, twat.
Why oh why is a gooner scum making regular comment on a Spurs blog? Go and blog with the rest of your arse boys.

COYS - barcodes are in for a spanking I reckon. With Robbos calf strain (yeah right) we may even keep a clean sheet and nick it 1-0.

Listen knobs, if my comments was'nt censored like before, i'd be able to hold my own against any of u muppets! JGM could'nt handle my shit if i could say wot i wanted! Wrighty7

Wrighty7 Who is censoring you? 'Cos it ain't HH, my pedigree chum.

The only comments that get spun on here are the unfunny or the unthinking - although lots of them get published too.

Even the individual who just leaves 'jizz monkeys!' gets left alone if it fits the mood.

Whilst we welcome all demoninations in order to facilitate a bit of banter, the shelf (geddit?) life of a gooner on a Spurs blog has got to be very limited...

I am a gay Yid and was wondering where you like to watch the mighty Spurs HH? Lets fing play a midfield against Gordie surgens. How about a new formation Martin How about the Barca formation; Cerny, Chim daws Kaboul Bale - Huddlestone - Jenas (Zakora) Steed (Adel) - Keane and Lennon - Berbs I believe this will solve our defensive problems and the lack of presence in our midfield and provided Lennon with more options and involvement. Emre your going to get fcuk. I was fking struggling to name my Spurs midfield then for a second, when was the last time we had a decent central midfield. Last it was Carrick who we never loved before it was Davids who always demanded respect and would walk into this team. Mendes never had a run, Davis upset the gaffer, Jamie got made club captain and then there was Poyet who won us over with the odd volley. Maybe we could get 20 million for Bent and use the money on a Requleme and Aimar and probably get Van Der Vaart with the change
