Tottenham vs Jol : A Leaked Email From The Board Or Cobblers?

This was posted as a comment yesterday and to be quite frank I didn't entirely grasp what it was. If I was a dog it wouldn't be a bloodhound... anyway further to an email to me this morning daylight has dawned.

This is an excerpt from an email sent from allegedly 'someone on the board' at WHL to a (what I believe to be) an respected forum member of Spurs Community.

"Andrew, as I know you are always in the chatroom, can I provide you with the current position please.

Re Ramos, Klinsmann etc - We are not negotiating with any managers about the replacement of Martin Jol at this time. We are an ambitious club and it is a realistic ambition that we should look to CL qualification, so anything that looks like we may not make it is bound to lead to speculation and we fully expect that. No manager's future is decided on one or two games and it is insulting to suggest that this board would do that.

Re Martin and Damien - they have a good working relationship - the football management board works - no player comes into this club that Martin doesnt agree to - it would be ludicrous to suggest that money would be spent on players Martin did not favour and whom he would not then play, Damien has brought talent to the club with Martin's approval - and we would not have players like Berbatov and Bale without him to mention but two (there are obviously many more).

Re left position - always difficult as evidenced by the fact that the majority of prem teams (Liverpool a notable exception) play a right footer on the left. We have Lennon, Malbranque (who played a blinder on the left yesterday) Bale and Keane. So we have many options and yet we will still look as depth is a key factor of the squad.

Please let me know if any rumours running amok that I have not answered here - will be happy to! best regards,"

sorry HH but this is cobblers...
The one thing that you can guarantee THFC will do is never speculate on rumours, not to the newspapers and certainly not via email and there is no way that anybody "on the inside" would send such an email to a mate cause he heard rumours about something.
Total crock of shite in my opinion...
But i do think there is somethign afoot with BMJ as there is too much smoke around to not have a fire about to take off...What do you all think???

Hmm, would probably be better posted on the Spurs website to rubbish some of the cr@p floating around in the news right now.

Harry,

Whilst I don't doubt you have faith in the member from Spurs Community, it is hard to believe with all of the media storm that such an e-mail would come from WHL. Unless it was deliberatly sent to throw everyone off the trail. The most "vocal" voice is the stunning silence from the Board with an appopriate announcement on the Spurs web-site. Namely, if a member of the board can write an e-mail, how hard is it to post something on the Spurs site?

My mates mum has a friend who said that her best mates dad is in prison. The prison officer he sees every day has a mate who knows this bloke that he met in a pub.

This bloke in the pub knows someone who is friends with a member of the board at spurs.

This bloke from the board with a high paid job and reputation to keep, sent a F*CKING EMAIL to a nobody on a spurs site to be posted round the internet.

The amount of time I have wasted writing this SH*T is time better spent than the time lost reading that B*LLOX.

Harry,

I can't believe what you've done here HH.

If you can't name the site you got this from - and I'll wager that a large number are fully aware of the source - then why plagiarise?

And why doubt?

I have met the recipient of the email and I will vouch for him.

Anonymous said...

i dont believe the email is from a board member, if it is, it shows the turmoil in the boardroom. the statement should have been posted on the thfc website.

if this talk is just media speculation.. a statement should be posted on the thfc website.

if there is truth in the rumours..
it is really bad timing from the spurs board, moving for another manager at this time is crazyness,
we need stability, that we havn't had since the days of Burkinshaw.

if we get another manager now it is taking us back 5 years.

give Jol the time to take us to the top, like Fergie has done.

Mate, read what I wrote. I have acknowledged it came from a member of Spurs Community.

I also have no reason to ENTIRELY vouch for the 'recipient' as old HH doesn't know him from Adam.

However, the significance of this text, left originally as a comment on here yesterday.... was made clear to me this morning by a member of SC who also vouches for the recipient.

I do wish some of you would count to ten before leaping in...

I am actually on your side.

Hello Harry.

In fact the THFC board do put out information to certain sources in the knowledge that it will make the message boards. They are not as foolish as they look.

How real this one is I'm not sure but the source is usually pretty good.

The briefings against Jol leaked to the press overnight are nothing short of a scandal.

In the spirit of "you've gotta laugh or you'd cry", I notice that the rags/ our highly respected "meedyah" now have our board creating a "list of 3" replacements for BMJ - including footie's favourite involuntary head jerker, Mr Harold Rednapp. According to the Mail, 'Arry "would turn down Spurs". Yeah, like I would turn down the offer of a sexual encounter with Halle Berry in preference to my right hand and a box of tissues. Of course, when you read the actual quotation, HR says no such thing - but why let facts get in the way of a "good" story?
BTW, if anyone uses the phrase "no smoke without fire" again, I will hunt you down and nail your scrotum to your forehead. Unless you like that kind of thing, in which case I'll just post abusive comments from afar.

Hi, I'm the 'Andrew' in the email. I post as BOF on SC. I don't understand the point of this. I have no presence, reputation or credibility on this site. This is your local. Someone has wandered into another pub and overheard a comment from a stranger. If you knew who I was, what my connection to the club is, it would make more sense. But you don't so it just looks like more bollocks to you.
Probably best to delete the page and move on, Harry.

However, Berbatov's agent Emil Dantchev has categorically denied a fall-out between player and coach, saying: "I can tell you for sure is that there is not a problem."

Jol has done well with us and the last few years have been good. But I don't think Jol is the man who can take us further. Can anyone honestly say they can see us winning the prem with Jol? whether it be in 5 or 10 years I just don't think he is strong enough tactically to mount that kind of challenge.

If anyone is thinking Jol should go just because of the defeats to Sunderland and Everton then they are wrong. Agreed you can't sack somebody just over two poor games, but it did prove that Jol is still struggling to address this frustrating tactical problem that showed up last year against the scum, reading, man u, sheff utd chelsea (fa cup) and sevilla.

I read in an interview last season in the independent that he'd like to go and manage the dutch national team or back in the Dutch eredivisie after a few years, and also that it would always be impossible to win the premiership with spurs, showing lack of ambition.

Jol has been a faithful servant over the last few years but I'm afraid he can't take us further. Never mind all this "Rome wasn't built in a day", he is just too weak tactically.

Sorry to those who are happy to under-achieve with Jol as manager for another few years but it has to be Berbatov over Jol any day of the week.

The guy was in Neverkusen all those years because he was untouchable. The same in the national side: anyone in Bulgaria will tell you that if things don't go his way he's more than a bloody primadonna; he's a crying baby.
That says a lot about his character and why he isn't in a big club: he rather not win a thing and be adored like a little god.
I'm all the way backing Jol on this. Berbatov never swore loyalty to Spurs and never told the Board he would go. That's how political and opportunistic he is. So, the Board didn't sell him (as expected)and Jol had to buy Bent because he wasn't sure he was staying. That's very nice, isn't it? And he comes back and the first thing he does is to give an interview to the media reminding everybody he was worth 40 million and yet he stayed. Prick!
So Jol now tells him he's just one of the guys and look what happened. As if he actually did anything special for the team in those two games-
I hope very soon Jol will tell us exactly about Berba's attitudes. The other who knows him well is Mido, and Jol didn't want him to go because he's a good guy,but he had to, in face of the current situation.
Berbatov is a fake. He's no team player, he has a ego bigger than the Eiffel Tower and he thinks he's much better than he actually is.
After this great mess, I hope he goes to italy or Spain and leave the EPL alone.
This has been my opinion all along; I didn't change from Berbagod to Berbaflop yesterday, like so many others.

POMPEY YID

Anonymous said...

Here's a theory. After the Everton defeat Kemsley's getting itchy, and asks for permission to speak to Ramos. Levy agrees as long as it is done discretely. Kemsley then tips off the local press, knowing the story will get back to England, making Jol's position untenable and making Levy's decision for him.

The plan backfires when Ramos rejects the move, Jol quits, and Hughton steers Spurs towards relegation.

Basically fellas the long and short of it is that BMJ is leaving. I have no inside info, no secret e-mails and am not a bookmaker. Fact of the matter is that whenever there is speculation of this magnitude at any club about the future of their manager, especially regarding performances within 1 week he is often removed from his position. So we must get used to the fact that in the next few weeks we will have a new man at the helm. I personally think that the decision to remove BMJ from his position is disgusting, the Spurs board have stabbed us all in the back, not only is he the best manager we have had in year, he has helped build the best team spirit that has existed at the club for a long time. He has produced a group of young lads who not only want to play for the fans and each other, but for the manager as well. When was the last time we had that at the club?? But in the end the board supply the majority of the money for the club and their decision, no matter how wrong it seems is final. Let's hope they haven't messed up on this one. Until the time that he is removed, let's sing our hearts out and show the board just how much we think of Martin Jol, definitely the best thing to happen to THFC for many a year!!!

Anonymous said...

well here it is again folks i've been a spurs supporter for 27 years and surprise surprise we have the best manager we have had for 20 years and there's all this shite that he will get the sack. Why do we have to go through bullshit like this once things are looking on the up. Dont get me wrong ok played 3 lost 2 won 1 well its hardly a crises is it? Man Utd have had there worst star for what 15 odd years yet i hear no cry of alex getting the sack. If they get rid of BMJ its been a waste of time yet again and we are back to square one mid table nothingness...its never simple at the Lane is it? The ass bandits down the riad will be laughing at us again....cunt.

I really thought it would all have calmed down by now and prove to be a bandwagon jumping excercise by the red-tops. But this is one big wagon and some pretty sizable jumps, coming most assuredly from the usually more tightly reined press.

A coincidental meeting of board members & manager at a hotel miles from both parties bases? Highly improbable. Levy keeping shtum at a time like this? Broadsheets writing in absolute and specific terms about specific intentions individuals?

It's like a good X-files episode; there are so many possible versions of what could be happening I don't know what to think or who to believe. From the way the papers unleashed after 2 games, I suspect that they had been chomping on the bit for this story for quite some time. Mido's seemingly strange comments about 'too much politics' suddenly seems far from strange and with Jol himself claiming a possible whispering campaign against him as far back as last season, it all has the whiff of a right royal mess about it.

One way or the other, this is not being handled well by the club and Jol must feel that he's on the way to being hung out to dry after 2 years of if not perfect, then certainly good work.

I, like many I'm sure, am very fond of our manager, but begrudgingly keep a sneaking suspicion that he may not have what it takes for the highest level, locked in a small safe at the back of my conciousness. I try to ignore it but events like this are like a psychological sneak-thief twiddling with the combination. I believe he deserves this season to prove himself for sevices rendered but if the WHL doubters are right about him, I want the dirty deed done openly and as quickly as possible. Ramos will appease, Redknapp won't.
But then of course any change is a risk, and that above all else makes me most nervous.

Whatever the outcome, Levy needs to get it right or question-marks over his ability may be next.

I think Jol hasgot a good hidding, he probably deserved, to stop being negative and go for it. But I believe right now he's all powerful. That means Levy agreed letting Berbatov go or be dropped to put him in his right place, i.e., under Jol'a authority.
But, mates, sorry to use the fatal words, there was smoke and fire and firemen. Something has got to change. I'm inclined to think, like many others do already, that Berbatov is not happy and he should go . Jol will be fine with Bent.

The Club is aware that there has been much speculation over the past few days in respect of our Manager, Martin Jol. As you know, the Club does not respond to speculation, but we do feel in this instance it is important to clarify the current position. Manager Martin Jol and Assistant Manager, Chris Hughton met with the Chairman, Sporting Director Damien Comolli and members of the Board today – discussions were held re-confirming our aims for the season, the development of the full potential of the squad and taking the Club forward.

“We have had two good, progressive seasons with fifth place finishes. I am an ambitious Chairman, we are an ambitious Club and we want Champions League football at White Hart Lane,” commented Chairman, Daniel Levy. “We, the Board, owe it to the Club and the supporters to constantly assess our position and performance and to ensure that we have the ability to operate and compete at that level. We have made a massive investment in the squad and as a result we have the best squad of players this Club has had for over 20 years and they are equally hungry for success and silverware. For that we need our management and coaching standards to be of the highest quality such that players can fulfil their potential and we can compete with the best. We have discussed all of these expectations with Martin and he has confirmed to me today that he feels he is equipped with a squad and a determination to take on that challenge.”

Martin added: “We had a full and frank conversation and I fully understand the ambitions of the Club – they are the same as those of the supporters. He has put a lot of hard work into this Club and with the squad of players we have assembled, it is realistic that we should look to challenge for a top four position and I have assured him and the Board that that is what I shall aim for.

“The last two seasons we have finished fifth and this season we start with an even better team. So we should be optimistic. Yes, it is pressure to deliver, but that is what we managers should expect. Hopefully all the media will relax now – all I shall be concentrating on is each and every game.”

Finally the board is doing something right. Martin Jol deserves this season to prove himself (quite frankly, he is capable of delivering a 4th place and possible either the FA or Carling Cup but I doubt we can win EPL under him). What we need now is go to Old Trafford and pick up a point, possibly all 3 since Fergie's team's back is on the ropes.

Go Coys.

7.40 - you and everybody else saying Berbs should go has lost your freakin minds.

Keane and Berbatov scored 40+ goals without a hint of decent service last season (well if you exclude the long balls from Robbo that Berbs extracts from the air with total class). With the midfield we played last season and without Berbs on the pitch to accept Robbo's kicks, Bent and Keane would have struggled to get to 10 goals each last season.

FYI - I want EVERY player on my team to be pissed when he is pulled from the game when the team is losing!!

Anonymous said...

It's the worst vote of confidence ever.

Anonymous said...

Berbatov has spat the proverbial dummy because he's worried he'll be upstaged by Bent this season..

I expect Bent to be the top scorer this season.. Berby may have missed his chance to move to Man Utd.

Anonymous said...

Im gonna stick my neck out and say maybe Jol needed a kick up the ass just like Berba did.

One refreshing thing to come out of this is we are backed by a board who really mean business and absolutely expect results.

Granted it has all come out a bit messy, but things could move on from here in a positive way with Jol and the players knowing they need to fight for the win in every game we play this season and not afford any laxy dazy slip ups and expect to be forgiven just because everyone loves Martin and our young promising british youngsters. Yeah he is a great bloke and potentially a legend if he gets this impressive squad playing the way they should.

I am glad Jol is staying, but for the first time in a long time, to do just "good" is not good enough...these guys want us amongst the champions and I respect that ambition.

It's all relative to the investment, like do you think had Mourhino not won at least the Premiership by now with the 350 million investment, would he still be there?...I dont think so, he would be out on his ass. Now our investment is considerably smaller but still seen relatively as enough to strengthen the squad and make top 4, the pressure is on. Personally I would give Jol this season and next, but these guys (the board)want it this season!

What this means is DL and the board really have big plans for the club eg bigger stadiums. To achieve this you need to be at the very top by being results orientated, just like all winners are...makes for a very interesting rest of the season...COME ON MARTIN JOL'S SPURS...SHOW EM WHAT YOUR MADE OF!!!

I will put money on Berbs pulling out of his skin in another club.

His agent clearly refused to reply questions concerning him staying at Spurs.

"Today he's a Spurs player, there's nothing more to say."

Jol is on death row and Spurs are fucked for the season. You'll see.

Is the club's progress in danger of being ruined by the KoshaNostra as in the days of Scolar followed by Sugar? Between them they managed to preside over two of the best Spurs sides since the 60's. As THFC looked set tobecome the dominant team in England. What did they do? Scholar got rid of Burkinshaw and Sugar got shut of Venables. It should come as no great shock then that Levy with Kemsley sneaking around in the background appear to be following the same route with BMJ. It's shoot ourselves in the foot time again! Or is it a conspriracy to unsettle Spurs by influential media people with an interest in keeping the so called big four safe from the emerging threat of Spurs?

someone is lying!!!

Club

The Club wishes to thank all those fans who wrote to the Board, the Manager and the Club with their views and support.

To further clarify the situation - the Club wishes to make it clear and unequivocal that no individual was or has been offered the position of manager/coach at this Club whilst that position has been held by Martin Jol. It is wholly inaccurate and inappropriate to suggest otherwise.

Ramos

MADRID, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Sevilla coach Juande Ramos has said he received a "dizzying" offer to take charge at Tottenham Hotspur but never considered accepting the approach from the English club.
"They made an excellent, dizzying offer, but I'm under contract to Sevilla and my decision is to fulfil it," Ramos told a news conference on Wednesday.

They might not be lying but simply playing with words. It's quite possible to make a point to someone and receive a response, indirectly:
