Tottenham Hotspur's Defoe For Sale

Word on the street is that Defoe is officially for sale.
So much for the I'm gonna roll up my sleeves and fight spiel. But hey, would you blame him?

The 25 year old sometime part time England squad striker has had a value placed upon him by Tottenham of £14 million.

Two Premiership Clubs have shown what is perceived to be genuine interest. One of whom is thought to be Portsmouth. No surprise there of course with old Redschnapps having been an admirer of Defoe since their West Ham days.

If any of this is true then we can expect a last flurry of 'Defoe For Tayor Plus Wonga Swap' stories before the old transer window bangs shut.

And what of Defoe?
Apparently weighing up his options.

He signed a four and a half year contact in April 2005. Which does mean that one eye has to be 'on the meter' so as to speak.
Wouldn't want the little bar steward sloping off on a Bosman come the new year... would we?

well the other club is Blackburn seeing as there are a thousand rumors of him being spotted there (and also in a cafe in Ipswich!)

also.. if that was his contract details don't you mean new year 2010? i dont think we have to worry about bosman yet!

fu*k off harry defoe will be at spurs for a long time. He will sign a new contract in January.

After the Uefa draw Damien Comolli stated in an interview he didn't expect Defoe to be going anywhere, and I hope he doesn't personally. He's looked the sharpest of all our strikers this season and deserves to start.

If he leaves then good luck to him. I can't see him getting much of a run in the first team this season anyway, always has been a great goal poacher but he is too easily pushed off the ball and can be anonymous when we play the really strong teams.

if we r to sell defoe then we should buy LITA as replacement and also gazump wet spam for shorey.

Anonymous said...

do you harry have any information on players arriving at spurs ?

Defoe will go to blackburn for MGP and 5million. Blackburn initially offered MGP and 8million for defoe and thudd but was rejected. Will be announced tommorow mornin.

i'd settle for pedersen and 5mil.. we'd get a left winger (whom bale can cover easy enough) and a cash prize as well!

Shame that SSN just showed that we turned down Man Utd's interest in Defoe and slapped a......£20m price tag on him. Everyone is for sale, everyone!

Pederson played for Blackburn last night in UEFA cup so i'm guessing would be cuptied now - wouldnt be much good to us if he is.

LITA & Shorey ??!!

No Thanks !

We should not be looking to sell Defoe either, especially as come the start of next season we will have only Keane & Bent, cos we all know Berbs will be on his way (unless we win the League & Uefa Cup)

But given Jol's love affair with Keane and the unjust lack of opportunities Defoe will have, i expect Defoe to be gone by Jan (especially given his reluctance to sign a contract extension)

So MGP & 5m, i'd take that then, given the circumstances, but i don't see Defoe agreeing a move to Ewood Park, Porsmouth is a more likely destaination and 'Arry is always talking him up (and quite right too)

Shame really, but he needs regular first team football and he needs it now (not 10 mins here, 5 mins there), and while Jol's around, he won't get it at WHL

Jermain Defoe.....he was a Yiddo

lita and shorey! are you real??!

Anonymous said...

id take pedersen and 5 mill. we need to keep thudd though. cant wait to see thudd and boateng bossing the midfiled with tarrabt and lennon or bale on the wings

Gardner is injured !

Usually that would be great news - not having to cringe watching Bambi on ice, but with Rocha as our only match fit CB we could be in big trouble, if Dawson & Kaboul are not yet ready to return i see us leaking 2-3 goals quite easily

On a happier not, Murphy is apparently 'in talks' with Fulham..........HOOORAAH!!!

The Shit Scouse Bastad

Has anybody got any news on the unveiling of Quaresma at The Lane ?!! lol

shorey is better than lee isnt he so y not? and if defoe is to go lita would a good cheap solution n we would easily b able to get rid of him in the summer if he duznt work out. BBC message board sayin JOE COLE to be unveiled @ 1800 wiv a player called vero salatic from grasshoppers n sky sports board is sayin RIQUELME to sign on season long loan. that wud b brilliant

I hope JD doesn't go. I would rather get rid of Berb as I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him - he is one who really would do a Bosman on us.

Someone told me a story about the team flight home from SA: quite shameful, drinks all around and too many, it seems. They told me that this is quite normal at the Lounge. No wonder they're going nowhere in the Prem table.

Don't worry - the "JD to Portsmouth" story is bollocks (unless the gun runner's son coughs up 15 mill in the next 3 hours). But as far as doing a Bosman goes, I'm afraid JD is much more likely than Berbs. Remember JD's agent is Sky ("My client's never break a contract") Andrews. Yep, the same guy who represented a certain (R)Sol, late of this parish, before he sloped off down the Seven Sisters, contract fulfilled and leaving us with sweet FA.
Otherwise, see y'all in the Putney Stand tomorrow.

no doubt we will all be disappointed by about 12.01, whatever our desires... however whilst scouring the web for any news of the mighty THFC signing anyone to get the pulse racing (i.e a left winger) I saw this... it reminds me of why I love football rather than why I love my club... Yeah I know he plays for chelski, yeah I know its on the Nike site but forget the bullshit, forget the politics and appreciate art for arts sake, this is mighty impressive... and no I don't work for Nike... they still wear gola down ere...

I have just seen Jermain Defoe ride down the A3 into Portsmouth on Nelly the Elephant.

Elvis himself will give a new conference at 10.30pm to confirm Pompey have bought him for £13m.

Stick around JD until BJM goes at the end of this season (if not before).

this just in from the daily mail and the sun: martin jol is thinking of resurrecting his playing career for the los angeles galaxy! with beckham done for the year, galaxy coach yallop needs a midfielder and has been outspoken about his admiration for the thrice-capped dutchman. said yallop, "yes, yes, i fucking know he was a defender, but this man has undeniable talents, high cheekbones, and a strong jaw. i see him as a flying winger." when asked about the reports, spurs chairman daniel levy pissed himself and ran off to find meddler-extraordinaire paul kemsley. meanwhile, the question on everyone's mind is obviously... was the answer to tottenham's midfield crisis standing on the sideline the whole time? just another example of why damien comolli is a piece of shit. tribal football is reporting that terry dixon, benoit assou-ekotto, ENIC and the ghost of danny blanchflower will all be following jol to los angeles. meanwhile hossam ghaly looks to take over managerial duties in an interim role.
armageddon at the lane.

typical spurs. i think this game just about sums up the last two years.

Anonymous said...

i can't deal with this fucking shit anymore.

Anonymous said...

Harry,

Will you now agree that Jol must be sacked with immediate effect?

Anonymous said...

i love my spurs dearly - but its now getting beyond a joke. after 2 games , things were ok, nothing to worry about - its early days.

now its just shite. i can tell you somethng for sure. we will NOT beat arsenal in our next game. in fact the uefa draw against famigusta is looking like a big ask.

bag of wank!!!!

Anonymous said...

Robbo must be dropped from the team - England are serioulsy looking at dropping him and so should we.

Look at the replays of the goals that looped over him today, and you will see that he was too far off his line!!!!

He also had that bad positiong for the Nani goal, in the previous Man U game!!!!

Anonymous said...

5 games, and only 4 points. Totally unacceptable!!!

The Board must sack Jol, and give him a one way airplane ticket back to Holland.

To be 2-0 up, and 3-1 up, but draw 3-3 is just not on.

Expect some imminent news that Jol will be sacked.

Anonymous said...

I agree. we deserve more than this. its a f'ing disgrace to not get 3 points against such a shit team. Once Arsenal hammer us about 5-0 next week maybe the board will finally take note of Jols shitty tactics and send him home.

We missed our opportunity to sell Defoe, and for that I am very disappointed. I have never understood why everyone seems to be so keen on a player who clearly dose not want to be at the club; which is reflected in his desire not to sign a new contract. Looking at his form it is clear he has not done it for a long time, although it is true he has not been given many games in which he has started. Of course he has not started that may games because Keane and Berbatov partnership clearly works.

Keane is a team player, an all round player who links up well with Berbatov he has the ability to set up, as well as score goals. Defoe on the other hand form what I have seen for many seasons likes to get caught off side, and rarely live up to his past goal scoring records.

I know Defoe has the credentials and the ability but it is clear that at Spurs he is a bit part player who is surplus to requirements at the Club.

Anonymous said...

Fuck me there are a lot of panicky fuckers on this fucking site!

And 4.15pm, what's all that crap about Robbo being out of position for the nani goal??? If you watch the flight line of the ball, Robbo's on for a great save until the deflection off tevez takes it a few inches up over his hand. Your panic has you seeing things.

We had a bad start last year and still came 5th. Settle down and let them do their work. The injured need to come back and get a good run of 5 or six games before we know what sort of shape this team's in. Especially the defence. Two or three decent wins on the trot will get the momentum going and we'll be right back on track. Starting maybe against the goons.

Stay positive

COME ON YOU SPURS
