Tottenham Won't Swap Defoe

The transfer window is not only in need of a good Windowleening, but slamming shut. Word is that there has been contact (real opposed to UFO) between the nigglers at Second Hand Fridge and our good selves...

Essentially Chelsea suggested a straight exchange of players. Levy of course was reported to say, 'What a tremendous idea. And do you have a banker's draft for the excess?' (The figure being touted is around the £4 million mark).

Aside from the fact that the coffers are locked at Cheatski, Harry cannot see this happening. If only as every 'discussion' between us & them degenerates into ' Well if that's the way you feel' and dial tone.

Defoe has probably hit a brick wall/ glass ceiling at Tottenham. But he is bewilderingly (some say) loyal and wants in at Spurs. He's not for moving.

Oh yes. SWP? He'd play for us tomorrow. Ask his ex-gameshow host for the lobotomised relative, Ian Wright. Chelsea have come out and denied the tale but they would. It's a long way from handing out blank cheques...

Send Defoe to Chelsea (or ManU), take the money and buy a much better player than SWP. SWP may be the most selfish player in the prem (well, 2nd to Joe Cole, but Cole has 10x the class). He never passes and never even looks to pass. Way too often he kills possessions by trying to beat everybody himself, or by taking wild shots from very low quality positions. There's not a single player in our starting lineup right now that wouldn't pass the ball to setup a better scoring opportunity. SWP is not a good fit for Spurs!

absolutely zero chance of this happening!!! Defoe would not leave spurs unless he were GUARANTEED a starting spot in the new buyers squad. What chance is their of that at scumski??? NIL...

I would hope the conversation went something like...

"Would you like SWP in exchange for Defoe?"

"Can he play on the left?"

"Not really"

"Goodbye"

as good as I reckon he could be, I feel we have ample cover with Routledge and Lennon.. more evidence for rumours about left footed players please Mr Levy!

daytripper have you not seen Taarabt play?

Wendell judging by his MOTM performance against Germany SWP CAN play on the left and do so very well. Infact i seem to remember him scoring a good goal against us from there.

Is swp a natural left footed left winger? I think that's what we should be aiming for. Too much to ask?

In the Indy today is a story which has Jol guaranteeing Defoe more starts than last season if he signs.
