Tottenham Targets : Boetang Still On

The Hamburg Morning Post is this morning saying that (as previously advertised on HH) that the deal is still on. "Several Hertha players took their place in the stands of the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion in Babelsberg Berlin, to watch Hertha play a friendly there on Sunday. Skipper Arne Friedrich (back problem) and striker Christian Gimenez (calf) sat in casual clothes to watch the game...

Another player watching was Kevin Boateng, who looked on wearing a track suit. The 20 year old is only doing light training at the moment, because the club doesn't want to endanger his multi-million transfer to the English Premier League side Tottenham. The clubs have apparently reached agreement, the player has yet to agree personal terms. His agent Karel van Burik is currently in negotiations with the London club."

If he is as good as his press then I hope he comes. It looks like we will start with Zakora and Jenas in central midfield but I am not sure that pairing is strong enough so he would add very healthy competition, especially if he is like Carrick but doesn't need a compass when he crosses the half way line.

Good work again, Harry!

He is to replace hossam ghaly. He will be playing off the right when we play a narrow midfield or off the top two.

Where did this stuff about him being a defensive midfielder come from?!?!

archibaldsteve:I've only seen a few clips of him but he seems to be the direction for central midfield that we should follow in, in that he has strength, power and a bit of pace. I think he could easily replace either of our central players. Hers hoping to add to the signing of Kaboul who could be the best of the off season so far in that he seems also a step into getting some muscle on the pitch for us to start to be able to do battle.

ZOKORA!!!

archibaldsteve says:
I have only seen limited coverage of him but like Kaboul he seems he would be a welcome step in Spurs beefing up the team (if that can be said for 2 non Englishmen). He seems to have strength and pace which will be welcome in replacing either Jenas or Zokora. I hope we get him and bring Petrov on board as my chosen target for left side MGP seems out of the running on all levels.

Hang on a minute, I thought he has a dodgy knee? Has he had a medical yet at WHL?

once again i wont beleive it till i see him on the spurs website wearing the shirt. and for fucks sake lets just sign martin petrov.

He would be a good addition to central midfield especially if Zokora is off playing in the African Nations Cup this year

So still a good chance of this happening along with Martin Petrov then?...won't believe it till it's done but waht a crazy summer!, cannot wait till the season kicks-off...COYS!!

There you go, Petrov for 6.2 million, if he passes a medical thats not too bad considering Chimbo's price for a fullback last year and at 28, still a good 4 seasons left in him. The price of getting in the champions league will more than cover that.

Add to the equation Prince Boateng for another 4.5 million, makes 10.7 million, take away the 9 million back for the Egyptian blokes and our squad is complete for another 1.7 million. At the end of the day a top class centre midfield addition who will cover for Zokora's absence and a left winger is exactly what we needed, so thats sound business to me!...over to you MJ and DC.

good to see Jenas captain tonight and Routledge given an outing. Taarabt hasn't got a negative thought in his head - he gets the ball and forward he goes; knackered watching him!!! and what a great goal by Bent!!!!

A bit off-piste Harry but have you tried putting the case for a better seating system with a link to the petition on a few other Spurs blogs or would that not be the done thing? I'm not fully versed in blog politik.

Wish I felt as satisfied with the potential midfield aquisitions as I do about the frontline & defences actual newcomers.

dyer? Isn't he just Jenas by another name? Inconsistant and a tad lightweight?

RE CAPTAINS DEBATE

Jenas is having a stormer so far as captain tonight. food for thought maybe.
Gardner looking better than Kaboul.
Taarabt, plenty of endeavour, quite promising.

Well, yesterday bTV media announce that Martin Petrov have leaved Atletico's camp and travel to England for the medicals. All the media in BG claims that Martin, who is Bulgaria's 2006 footballer of the year is going to join Tottenham!

could just be me but I'm getting a little concerned at 3 friendlies left and no sign of chimbonda, defoe, lennon (still injured?), king (still injured?) or a decent clean sheet!

I realise we've not put out the complete first 11 yet but i want to see the 2-0's, 3-0's and more considering our scoring power and two new signings in defense!

COYS.. Show us what you've got!

Great to see the whole squad being utilized and everone playing their part to secure wins.

I wanted to post a few days ago to say it's fantastic the way Jermain Defoe showed his commitment to the cause, and for this I would love him to get a goal next game to go along with the other 3 strikers.

Would be great to see Jenas, Zokora and Thuds reach their full potential this year also as games are often won or lost in the centre of the park.

As it stands, we have a great squad with healthy competition for places. And I've got a feeling the signings haven't even finished yet!...what a future we have ahead of us and am loving Daniel Levy's work more and more everyday...COYS!!!!

DANNYBOY

If you thought jenas would make a good captain, all you had to do was say so.we are all open to a reasonable debate, unlike a west ham site i saw earlier, where i think they are all massdebators.

I suggested it when Harry had the poll for an alternative to Ledders as captain. Next ?!

Danny Rose has joined then...

Danny Rose is in the bag.

We are having talks with Petrov as he is in London.

Prince Boateng is currently being held out of pre-season matches, due to Hertha Berlin's unwillingness to expose him to injuries.

We are still keeping tabs on Freddy Adu.

Wright-Phillips played a brilliant game today as Chelsum faced Feyenoord. Seems like he's not coming.

In the same match Roysten Drenthe showed off his talent, as well as de Guezman and Castelen. Maybe we should exploit the dutch connection?

I think you just bought a wind up off the summerspur there, DB old boy...

You are widely acknowledged as JJ's numero uno fan...

The shame of it - I'll never be able to look Summerspur in his virtual eye ever again!!

Summerspur - are you called this because after the close season excitement you then change allegiance to Autumn Arscum, Winter West Spammer and once again Springspur at the business end of the season ?!

Re:summerspur7.55mpm

"Jenas is having a stormer"

Great, now all he's got to do is continue that form in all the premiership matches he plays in and we're in.

Summerspur said...

EL

my point was that he was having a stormer as captain, maybe the extra responsibility brought a little something out in his game vaguely resembling urgency.
remember el, we must tread very carefully when discussing jj, DANNYBOY will hunt us down and force us to watch the video, "George Graham, the arsenal years" if we overstep the mark.

DANNYBOY
if I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times, its name related, damn you!!
although I'm thinking of changing it to floodspur.
whats your take on JJ dannyboy, do you think he would make a good captain?
