Tottenham Hotspur's Tommy Huddlestone!

Two of Tottenham's fringe boys played for England's Under 21's last night. Tommy had a game that showed tremendous touches and certainly Wayne's last ten or fifteen minutes was undeniably useful...

I was never a huge Huddlestone fan, but came around a little towards the second half of last season. Routledge I thought, looked relatively dynamic when I caught him on TV, mind you he was playing for Fulham.

There have been (quelle surprise) words bandied that either or both are being loaned out this coming season.

Put simply, is this nuts?

Well played Tommy H. Looking forward to seeing him next season.

HH When are we signing Kaboul ? Thought you said he was in the bag ? Are you lying ?

HH sometimes u do speak some absolute rubbish, have u ever played football, I doubt it

I think Tommy The Hud won't be going anywhere next season. BMJ has a lot of faith in the kid and so do I. He just needs to improve his mobility and all should be well. Any news on Kaboul and Bent HH?

Huddlestone going out on loan ?? Ur having a laff !! He is the next Carrick - simple as that. Did u see him spraying those passes last night ?

HH - you are wrong(again.

I was lucky enough to go to Carrow road last night and watch the game.
Tom Hoddle-stone was fantastic...it made me very positive about next season!!
He was very confident in the middle of the pitch...commanding the action..directing players of the ball, whiles on the ball he was showing real inteligence...reading the game and putting players through all over the pitch...a very good performance indeed. To top it off he scored a cracking goal...great stuff!!
I think he is developing very nicely...he will be imense in a few years if not sooner.
Wayne was also very impressive...he was bit more inconsistent but he certainly showed he has potential...i think we should stick with him..give him a chance.
I do have one negative though...it was a shame we didn't buy Ashley Young..he looked awesome on the left wing...and deserved his man of the match award fully.

So Harry do you think he is still going to go out on loan next season ? Even though he has been to Wolves on loan before he started to get a place in the squad ? Who are your sources ? You a div HH.

Hate to break it to you all but there was a piece in the People about Hudd on loan so maybe think before you post?

Anonymous said...

The People ?? Anyone who reads the People is a mug. And you my friend are a mug. Maybe you shouldn't believe everything you read....

It was mentioned in the NOTW last Sunday.

Anonymous message 07:44 asking Harry if he has played football is the daftest question i have ever seen.

I doubt it if he has played football but more than likely done more for this club than possibly some of ex spurs directors as a fan.

Harry knows his stuff and surely he has your ip address and message registered somewhere..as he always does that.

and Harry why is sim spur became so much of a message board for a few mates nowadays...you cant even browse through it nowadays.

Shame!!!

If so many of you guys dont like HH stories, why bother coming on here wasting your time.

Keep the stories coming Harry, i for one like to keep up with the spurs related gossip, even if i do think it is highly unlikely

Yeah Harry, keep the bullsh*t coming. Some Spurs fans are so desperate for a story they will believe anything they read LOL

point of interest. routledge looked really good last night, i think he's really matured since he's been on loan. i'd like to see him given a chance next season, unfortunately skysports news is reporting that he wants a transfer. have a word martin jol!

You don't just get rid or loan out 20 year old's who have been hailed as the next Hoddle! What is everyone talking about!? At his age is better than Hoddle was so whatever people and HH are going on about is nonsense. THFC will stand for Tom Huddlestone Football Club for years to come and he will be the pivot of the Spurs team. The kid has everything, he can play CB, defensive midfield or in a more advanced postion, can spray 60 yards passes for fun and as worlizer of a shot! Why would we want to get rid of him. He should be ahead of JJ has far as I am concerned

Martin Petrov is injured again. Injury proned and HH insisted that Spurs buy a 28 year old who would come at a price.

There's not a chance of Huddlestone getting farmed out now. He made 35 appearances for us last season and will make more than that this season.

As for Routledge, I think he should be used to remind Lennon he isn't bullet proof. However, he'll probably leave if asked to go on loan again. 2 seasons of getting ignored is too much

harry, I'm sure i'll be accused of being you posting as anon but i'll sat it anyway...

keep it coming mate...

I think Routledge has a good game when he come on. Agree that Ashley Young deserved his MOM, he was outstanding and i think its a bit of a shame that we werent will to spend the 10 mil to get him as I think he has a bright future ahead of him. Hoddlestone going out on loan, why do you think it would be a bad idea? I think it would be good for his development - but only if we send him to a Prem side who are weaker than us. Sunderland would be ideal as Roy Keane would help him to improve his defending and reading of the game (although the latter he is already very good at). If we sent him out to Reading then he will be playing in a team who try to play the game the way we do which is again, also good for his development, at the end of the day it appears that Jenas and Zokora are currently number one and a lad of Tom's age need to be playing as much as possible to improve so it is to our advantage to loan him to a club where he will walk into the first team and play against to opposition all season rather than every now and again. There would be nothing to stop us re-calling him in Jan if he is having that good a season (and then Jenas can be stuck on the bench, although I wish that was the case already)!!!

At the moment Huddlestone is a luxury player. Likely to be outstanding at home against Derby County but completly ineffectual at at say Anfield, where he will never be allowed the space and time on the ball he needs. As for last night, for Derby read Slovakia.

The passes that come off look great but people tend to forget about the number of times he gives it away.

I agree that he is like Carrick but he too was a luxury the way Jol played him because he was not far enough up the pitch often enough to do real damage. Huddlestone is also very reminiscent of Hoddle but Hoddle always posed much more of a threat on the opponents goal, both directly and indirectly.

I am not sure another loan spell would improve Huddlestone. Tottenham have to work on his mobility or consider whether he could play centre half.

I would definitely hold on to Routledge. If he had an extended run in the team he could displace Lennon.

4 ever hopeful;
Good points on Tom. Mobility is one aspect along with positional sense, sometimes makes the wrong choice defensively. Always playing defensive midfield tends to be a problem for him. He has the skill but lacks experience.
I am huge fan though. Who wouldn't want to see an honest lad go all the way? Let's hope he goes nowhere next season and gets a good run in the team and gets a few more goals in a white shirt.

Just saw on another site that apparently Kaboul has passed his medical, but the deal will take longer cos Auxerre want more money now

Anonymous said...

idiot

Big Tom has great potential but needs to come up a level by adding something to his game. He either will or won't. He's still pretty young and learning all the time. I reckon he'll be given the chance this season to either make the grade or move on. More aggression is the key, but then we all know that, and so does Jol.

Anonymous said...

How lazy and ignorant can journalists be?, facts speak volumes. Spurs ran out of players last term...fact, they had Routledge and Ziegler away on loan, and should have recalled them, without question, why on earth would we make the same mistake again?, we need to bring in players not loan them out, we will be playing plenty of second rate teams next season where Jol can see first hand if the potential players are up to the job!

Anonymous said...

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has never been a first team regular despite being able to walk into most other clubs in the Premier League or has he been loaned out! Its about building a squad not a team!!!

Anonymous said...

Re - he just needs to improve his mobility. How does a 20y/o improve his mobility. Some of the comments on this site are a joke.

looks like we knocked figo and his desperate come and get me pleas back.

now we get some equally cringeworthy face saving quotes.

Wow what an amazing sugestion loose a bit of weight...... and all of a sudden hes got the agility of a cat... lol Maybe you should be a conditioner for the whole team you joker.

Anonymous said...

I'd like to see us play Hud more. Granted he needs to show a little more aggression. However, I can't make up my mind if he should play in the holding role, or as the attacking CMF behind the strikers! I think he's a tremendous talent that needs more experience. As for Routledge, to me, he didn't do anything special at Fulham, and he didn't do anything special last night. Personally, he's full of tricks with no end result. In order to push Lennon, we need a better right-side midfield player.

HARRY HOTSPUR you must wonder why you bother with the stick you get from a sad minority...

Perhaps they should shut up and be grateful. Yes grateful that Spurs have a fan a clued up as you. One so on the button...

FROM SKY TODAY>>>>> (after Harry's piece, by the way)

"Routledge ready to go
By Graeme Bailey - Created on 6 Jun 2007

Wayne Routledge is ready to quit Tottenham in search of regular first-team footballl and a host of clubs are ready to make a move, skysports.com understands.

The England Under-21 winger impressed last season during a season-long loan spell at Fulham.

The Cottagers are keen to take him back to West London, but a number of Premiership clubs are ready to make offers.

Tottenham already have a sizeable squad and although they would ideally prefer Routledge to stay - the former Crystal Palace man is unlikely to turn down the chance to play week-in-week-out.

Routledge arrived at White Hart Lane in 2005 but injury curtailed his chances and he joined Portsmouth on loan, before his subsequent move to Fulham last term.

Up to five top-flight clubs are understood to have registered an interest in the 22-year-old.

Harry,

One thing about the kaboul saga which confuses me, maybe you can shed some light.
What is the transfer fee? Some posters mention 4.7 million, while the majority, including Kaboul himself, have said 8.2 million.

Anonymous said...

With Zakora set to be on African Nations Cup Duty next season I doubt Huddlestone will be going out on loan.

Anonymous said...

Petrov, sniedjer any truth in this, have you heard anything Harry?

Harry Hotspur said...

The fee is something I really haven't heard anything substantial about...

Lots of moaning and groaning but no facts. There's a joke in there somewhere but I can't see it as yet.
