Tottenham Transfers: Bale In The Bag?

Well I took a dog's abuse when I dared to suggest we were going to sign this whippersnapper and whilst he ain't signed yet, nor has the story gone away.

The People (ahem) are running the tale that he will sign, but it seems that the money has shrunk a little...

£8 mill anyone?

With those ears we could stick him in the trophy cabinet so that's a snip at 8 million. Is he really what we need at left back? Another inexperienced promising youngster? Haven't we got Ben Ass Eko? Is he really that good?

Anonymous said...

mate, think you may be setting yourself up for loads more abuse here !
as i've said before, when i see him in a spurs shirt at the lane.....
depends how s'oton do in the play offs i guess.

If any of the reports are true about anything to do with this story and previous stories. Why would we want to sign someone whose supports Arsenal and has his heart set on playing for Manu U?!

Anonymous said...

I hope we don't pay 8 million for Bale. Might as well get a proven international from the continent.

Bale is a brilliant young player in the Championship when he is allowed to attack. He is not so confident when he is forced to defend and has shown his lack of experience in this situation by giving away free kicks in dangerous positions. He is a player for the future but surely not as able a left sided player yet as Taylor of Portsmouth or Barry of Villa

Anonymous said...

what about nicky shorey anyone? the left back from reading, ive seen him play a few times this season and have been very impressed. from what ive seen hes good on the ball and can attack and defend. not sure how old he is tho but reading fans were calling from him to be in the england sqaud.

Anonymous said...

hey russell why would you worry about signing a player that gives away free kicks in dangerous areas, its not like we cant defend them now is it?!

Anonymous said...

Bale did seem very non-commital, so like Dannyboy will exercise a little scepticism on this one until we see him in a Spurs shirt.

Anyone think Chimbonda really did say he would like to play for Arsenal one day?...if so that is shocking!, but personally think it's the media stirring crap again.

Imagine we sign a superb left back and then are looking for a decent right back again...Grrrrrr!

Anonymous said...

defoes an arsenal supporter didnt stop him joining and if were not goin to sign a decent left winger were goin to need a good attacking left back and bale would be a good answer

Anonymous said...

There is very little loyalty in the game anymore and as supporters we just have to get along with it. At Spurs I think we will be lucky with some of them, Dawson and Keane particularly and hopefully Lennon too. As for Berbativ, I doubt he will go this Summer but MJ needs to be out their looking for a damn good potential replacement for the following Season. Chimbonda? yeah he probably said it or something like it but he also made it clear it was not in his immediate plans and by that time he would be a fool to sign for them rather than stay with us!

Anonymous said...

Sean K - yeah Defoe is an Arsenal supporter, but Man Utd wasn't in for him at the time we wanted him.

Thinking about the Bale situation, will probably depend a lot on whether Utd want him or not. If they don't he would probably sign on virtue of next best option...unfortunately thats life in football. Just like Chimbonda, no one else wanted him as much as we did. Had Arsenal, Utd or Chelsk been in for him, who knows???

Anyway, if Bale doesn't want to sign, then Baines or Taylor would be great proven alternatives, we shouldn't lose any sleep on players who don't want to play for our beloved Spurs.

Anonymous said...

Leighton Baines? I'd rather have him than Bale, sure Bale might be good, but not prem proven, and despite Wigan looking destined for the drop as I write, he'd be a really good signing..

Still, another youth international at WHL, I'm hardly gonna complain if he comes. More urgently is the need for a cracking leftie wing-wizard considering Lee actually good 2nd half of the season..

A desperate article from an even more desperate attention seeking so called Spurs ''fan''.

Harry - drop the name of Hotspur. Your a disgrace to the Cockeral.

Scuttle back to Spurs Odious and take your super pompous comment with you.

'I'm a disgrace to the Cockeral' ?

Well, at least I can spell....

Anonymous said...

Wow wee spelling bee !!

Harry must be bored on Bank Holiday Monday to write a article based purely on speculation. Tut tut tut. IF he were a True Spurs fan he would know how the club does it's transfer dealings at this present moment and would not pay attention from a two bit journalist who have nothing else to write about than Gareth Bale. What does Harry do ? Pay attention to them and thinks - I know what I'll see if I can stretch it out on my own website. The one thing you can bank on today is Harry being desperate trying to seek credability from two bit articles from the press. He's the type of Spurs fan which makes me cringe.

You're absolutely right on all counts...

Apart from I had a tip off some months back we would sign Bale. So you see, it's kindda something I'm following.

Great to have you on board. Your comments are a rare treat and don't make you look like a constipated traffic warden at all.

Keep'em coming!

Anonymous said...

Traffic wardens are honest people who have a job to do and do it well. If one cannot see a double yellow line then one should not be driving in the first place.

With Traffic Wardens you never get a bad one. However with two bit journalists like your good self they come at ten a penny. It's a shame when they proclaim to support Spurs :(

Harry Hotspur said...

Hahahahaha no more, please, stop.... I should be paying you for this, hahaha...

Is it my birthday?....

And what are you views on National Service?

Brilliant.

Anonymous said...

National Service ? I dunno man, that's a question I'd expect to come from 2 bit journalist like you !! Ok I'll give it try - if your names down your going, if it isn't don't worry about it !!

Also I dunno if it's your birthday - ask your mum. She might know when your birthday is . Poor Harry doesn't know when he's birthday is !

Come back when you're funny mate

Or just f*ck off actually, that'd do the trick for me

i hope we do buy this lad, up 2 now hes offered some promising skill for sutton , and with man u winnin the title , im sure they will take berba or defoe so we shud have plenty of money 2 spend, come on u lot , reali , hes 17 ? hes going to be a massive star, he couldnt possibly flop..i believe we should bid on dyer as a carrick replacement as i believe thats what we lacked this season ..COYS!!

LOL ok I'll fuck off !! Peace out people.

Dyer?

That's also not very funny.

Anonymous said...

Can't wait til the kids are back at school.

Anonymous said...

Do you like kids ? Are you one of those people who likes kids :S....

Anonymous said...

what we need is a left sided midfield player not a LB.

I would pay 8 million for him:-

He left Edwin VAn Der Sar rooted in goal 1 and grasping in thin air for goal 2.

Well, as far as is known, the three guys Man U want for next season are Bale, Hargreaves and Berbatov. Any want doubts Sir Alex and the Champions will have them? Not me. I know, HH, I know, it's up your nose again, but Berbs is going, believe me...

With Wigan potentially going down, Leighton Baines might be available. Much better than Bale, with almost all the same advantages (young, English, attacking) but none of the disadvantages (he's experienced, solid in defence as well, not just attack-minded). Bet we could get him for 8 mil.

Anonymous said...

Nemesis you tart!

Anonymous said...

what we need is Joey Barton or at least someone with a pair of bow locks to protect our back four and win the ball, baines will only leave us exposed as he is poor on the back foot.

Anonymous said...

i have seen bale play for wales and southampton and he looks quality and if man u want/ed him then im sure he must be pretty damn good

come on u spurs bout time u caught up with the rest

Anonymous said...

Nemesis piss off back to your glory hunting website, Berbs isnt going anywhere, your just listening to tabloid speculation and adding your two pence, the only way Berbs will leave us is if someone comes in with a rediculous offer, we are talking £30 mill plus, even money bags Chelski are backing away from these sort of deals now. We do not need the money, so back off and go back to your red devils nomark website. twat.
oh yes and id pick baines over bale.... 8 )

Getting a lot of stick again then Harry!!
Keep you stupid comments to yourself, you have been in this position so many times, but you will never learn! where are all your so called mates now, I don't mean your normal 'anon' posts that you make yourself I mean your supporters, thin on the ground now!!!Muppet!

7.39, you write as if someone cares what you think.... which is a pity.

archibaldsteve says:Leighton Baines would prob be a good buy as we could sign him without having to battle Manu who I think Bale would take 1st as mentioned. We need strength to add to skill of Berbatov and speed of Lennon. Replace Zokora and Jenas with Arteta and Sidwell. Pedersen on left or Barry and the side would be more resiliant and not give away possesion at every turn. Our forward line could really get going if we could hold the ball like real teams do. Pleased with 6th spot tonight. Sorry to see Addicks go down. A solid club with good supporters. Looking forward to tussle against tough Blackburn outfit.

There are at least three rumours from different sources at present (one allegedly originating from a Southampton coach and another from a "source" at WHL) and they all say the same thing: that the Bale deal was agreed in January, but delayed because Bale wanted to finish the season at Southampton.

I have no direct information, but that's an awful lot of identical rumours. What interests me is (assuming this happens) whether Spurs will convert the inspired, but defensively-immature Bale to the long-awaited left winger, or offload one of the two left backs.

Anonymous said...

David's idea leaves an interesting option.. buy Bale and make him a really kick ass left winger, then buy Baines as well and have a solid left back.

That along with the Carrick gap being filled by actually playing Huddlestone more than once a quarter so he can learn the trade properly and Champions League place (over Gooners naturally) would be a very realistic target!

Anonymous said...

The problem for Tottenham is that many so called rising stars see the club as a stop gap; the club you join when your real preference is not an option and nobody else half decent comes in for you. Its better than nothing.

Carrick did it, Chimbonda looks like he is doing it and Bale would be the same.

That is why the policy of pursuing good youngsters for grooming must ultimately be the way forward. Then when we finally crack a Champions League spot we will have people who genuinely want to come and play for the club.

Anonymous said...

4everhopeful

are you ever going to write something with any substance to it ?!

carrick - left because the board didnt want to turn down 18mil, thereby getting a 16mil profit in 2 years.
chimbonda - unfounded rumours started by chavs.
bale - not even joined yet, if he does!

i guess this summer berbatov, keane, jenas, robbo, king, daws, defoe, lennon et al will leave for one of the 'top 4' ?

you certainly do brighten my day :-)

well done spurs for last nights solid result by the way

Harry, Why do you have Glenn Hoddles comment on the right of the screen with Robbie Keane and a £17m Price Tag? Perhaps you are bogus. Anyway Matt Taylor over Bale any day.

Anonymous said...

Dannyboy

No they won't because of the players you list I am afraid only Berbatov would get in a top 4 team.

Anonymous said...

so lets sell every player to whoever will take them and buy a new squad and just keep berbatov?
