Tottenham Hotspur Sign Bale - Harry Hotspur Basks Etc Etc..

Here's the word.

Tonight...
He signed.

"Have I done good, Mr Hotspur?" said the eager protege, over a weak cellphone connection. "Well enough for now, cherub." replied a watery eyed Harold.

Odds on him leaving to join Man U before May next year: 1/2

This might be slightly off the point but am I the only one who thinks that our midfield although obviously lacking quality on the left lacks creativity in the centre?

As for Bale? Much rather have Heinze here but still he has promise and let's hope it's in the bag.

Next stop Petrov and perhaps an inspired Riquelme/Diego capture inthe centre....hmmm

Anonymous said...

Ok, seeing as you provided your source, and gave credible information that only an insider would know, I totally believe that you've been told he's signed.

Anonymous said...

Where are you getting this info from ?
If you're WUMming us, you can expect the worst.
Hope it's true though
What about Petrov as well ?

And Riquelme, yes please.

As Petrov's unofficial spokesman in the constituency of Europe West, I can confirm he may or may not be coming...

As for centrifugal forces, I can't say I feel the it...the hype and emotional agony that accompanies a 'left-handed' Spurs transfer should be outlawed...

We're negotiating a bid with porto for Ricardo Quaresma at a club record 19.5 million + 1 million for uefa and 5 million for champions league.

The Berba to Utd story is a load of old c*ck w*nk.

Anonymous said...

i hope it is i just dont trust levy when it comes to big money for players aka carrick lets just keep our fingers crossed and even his agents not sayin berba will definately be at spurs now thats why im abit worried to be honest

Robert Green said...

let's be clear

we are going to lose berbatov. here's why (with sources, named!!)

i work in hollywood. last year i had the chance to meet all of chelski at skybar on sunset. i spoke with joe cole for a long while and asked him why we didn't get duff and lost carrick. his answer was simple: "spurs have a policy which basically acts like a salary cap. duff could play for spurs for 25 a week, or newcastle for 55. not a tough call for a guy who gets one chance to sign that kind of a contract. carrick, same thing."

now we all know that if the question is berba making 44 next year (as has been mooted) or making 70plus with man u, there is an 110% chance he will be playing with man u. and as long as we keep our salary cap (and we will, as long as daniel levy owns us) we will never have world class players for more than one year. it's as simple as that. and the young kids will leave when they get older if they are good enough to earn more money then we pay.

bottom line. every time you read that we are cash positive, a money-making team, instead of feeling pride, know that it is on the backs of the players, and that high-level (e.g. 5th and the UEFA cup) mediocrity is just what Levy wants, as it keeps us selling out the stadium without forcing levy to really dip deep.

Harry Hotspur said...

Just had Dimi on the trumpet, he was composed but emotional...

On the United story... "Harry, my agent is vampire, but no truth at all, whatsoever this week."

On Bale..."In Bulgaria you are made burnt for seeing future and smelling of drink.."

Scandalous stuff about our chairman. Lets just get Scholar back eh?

Anonymous said...

Duff is on 75pwk at The Toon and when Spuds were negotiating, they asked Cheatski to weigh off 25pwk to meet WHL salary cap but they said NO! That was the dealbreaker

Anonymous said...

Yeah, shame about Duff wasnt it............ Oh wait hang on...NO!

Anonymous said...

salary cap aka the reason we will never break into the top4 and stay there hopefully we get a takeover or will be held back and keep losing our best stars

Anonymous said...

Your right, we'll never hold onto the likes of Keane, Defoe, Robinson, King. and definately wont attract players like Berbatov, Chimbonda, and *cough* Bale.
Scrap the cap!

Anonymous said...

anan 11.05 "Imagine that...£10m for Berbatov and the same price for Bale".

I remember that you said the samething last year when spurs signed Bebatov" you said taht for 10 m we should get Kyut!

Anonymous said...

if we want to attract big stars to join us or stay then we need to give them a wage they deserve berba deserves alot more then a new £44grand deal

Harry Hotspur said...

Robert Green, eh?

Welcome.

Anonymous said...

Robinson??? i dont want to hold onto him and bale aint exactly world class is he??? sign Craig Gordon the best british goalkeeper!!!

Anonymous said...

There is a good example of a club that tried to build too quickly, spending loads on fees and wages, who initially had limited success, but after a year, went into freefall and ended up a joke of a club being acquired for £1.
I don't want to see Spurs turn into Leeds, we are going the right way and top stars may look nice on the team sheet, but people who are proud to wear the shirt regardless of pay are what I want on the pitch.

Robert Green said...

keane defoe king--all excellent players. i love them all. but none of them are SO brilliant that a team that will pay a crazy salary will go for them. you just don't pay those guys 70k plus a week--be honest with yourself (though to be fair, keane had a pretty great year and finally seemed to score a reasonable number of goals. but that's a first for him in his career where his goals stats matched his talent.)

the funny thing is that people want to defend our salary cap. it is absolutely why we can't compete. i've lurked here for a while, and seen people laughing at arse for spending money they don't have, going broke on the stadium etc.

i say, that's what we should be doing!!! go broke!!! make a crazy purchase! overpay a great player or two. it might result in short term financial loss, but long term it will pay off in a myriad of ways.

just let's not all kid ourselves. realistically we are going to lose berba, replace him with an excellent but not quite world class player, and probably end up 5th or 6th again unless things change. and bale (who seems great and whom i'm v excited to see) doesn't change that.

full disclosure--i'm a yankees fan here in the states--you want to know how to run a team, look at steinbrenner.

Anonymous said...

yes lets have a team that wins nothing a team of players who want to play for us a team of clive wilsons, justin edinburgh and andy sintons yeah???

Very sceptical about the validity of the report in the Sun, but am i the only one that thinks that if this were true it would be a good deal for Spurs? An average squad striker in Saha who when fit is proven premiership quality and has scored premiership goals unlike Berbatov (12)? Plus 30 odd million to spend on a world class left winger and playmaker? I think the 3 strikers of Saha, Keane, Defoe and one addition if not Barny would be a great strike force??

Anonymous said...

Oh your American, thought for a minute that you might know what your talking about!

Im not saying lets get crap and stagnate, im saying building to be a top 4 club takes time, and saying lets break the wage structure for one players is stupid, it creates a negative atmosphere within the ranks and causes resentment.
How long have you people been following Spurs?
This is as good as its ever been for some of the younger Spurs fans you know!

Berbatov not only scores goals he sets them up too and i wouldnt take 50 million plus saha Berbatov will just make man u stronger and us weaker is that all you want us to become man u's feeder club im sick of being in the duldrums i want to see us build a team that will oneday challenge for the title im sick of the gloatin from chelsea and arsenal fans are u really wantin us to keep going backwards???

Chelsea have lodged a £10million bid for Tottenham’s Pascal Chimbonda. Jose Mourinho has identified Chimbonda as the man to fill the problem right-back position at Stamford Bridge after being impressed by the France defender’s debut season at Spurs.

And while Martin Jol would be reluctant to lose his talented defender, Sportsmail understands that the chance to make a £5m profit on the player who moved from Wigan last summer may be too good to turn down.

Mourinho has turned to Chimbonda after uninspiring performances at right back by Paulo Ferreira, Khalid Boulahrouz and Geremi this season.

Although Glen Johnson will return to Chelsea after a season on loan at Portsmouth, he is likely to play understudy to Chimbonda should the bid be successful.

Chimbonda has been a regular in Jol’s starting line-up this season, making 49 appearances in all competitions, and he has revealed his desire to stay with Spurs.

He said: "I’m very happy at Tottenham and really enjoyed my first season with the club. I hope that continues next year. I’m totally focused on Tottenham and have three years left on my contract."

This is from one of your newspaper...MANCHESTER UNITED are planning to table a massive offer of £27.5million plus Louis Saha for Tottenham’s Dimitar Berbatov.

I told you people 7 hours ago but you did not believe...I told you 25-29 millions..I can tell you who am I...I am Sofea Jane from Sofia...Emil Dantchev (Berbatov Agent)'s girlfriend.

Anonymous said...

Well Harry I hope you're right about the Berba story. Though even if he doesn't sign for Man U for £100,000,000 plus Ronaldo, Scholes, Ferdinand and Rooney.. I fear it's going to be a long summer until the transfer window closes. A totally un-reliable source has informed me that if the Utd. bid fails Chelsea are preparing to offer more cash a complete team made up of ex-KGB operatives and a small Country in the Balkans.

I doubt I'll be convinced of his continued employment until the window closes. This transfer nonsense really is a double edged sword innit

Anonymous said...

Berbatov just SIGN A BLOODY CONTRACT!!!

Bring Down The Top 4!!!! Berbatov 4 Life!! Isnt about bloody time a player wanted a challenge or do they want to rot on bench at chelski man utd etc etc look at saha j.cole what a waste of talent just trying to grab the glory on a easy ride. Also heres another idea have one european cup stop the rich getting richer otherwise itl b same evry bloody season premir and euro. Does anyone want that???

So it's not Daily Star afterall, it's the SUN! Is this bollocks? Well, the numbers yes, it will be less, as I said before, but see the agent: we never know bla, bla, bla. ahahahah he knows and so do I. But I guess this will be the last time I'll bring fresh news to this blog. because SOFEA JEAN, whoever you are, I was here first, just check the posts.
Berbo is going. Put that in your minds!

Anonymous said...

The difference between the agent saying he's signing nothing this Summer was counter balanced by Berbatov saying we never know the future. Now it's the agent saying that. Is it clear? Yeah, as clear as water we'll see him in RED and WHITE next year.
Just dyiing to read the rest of the press in the morning.
Wonderful man, dear Berbs, what a class. That's the way to do business!

Anonymous said...

But there is a good news for you people...Another Bulgarian, a 17 years old is joining Spurs...a tall lad...taller than Berbatov but only half as good (maybe later he can be good as Berbatov?)...and very Cheap too, 500,000 Euro.

Anonymous said...

and by the way, Berbatov has got very good contacts in the SUN...

Anonymous said...

Come on man! if you are offered 75 k/week and CL when you're on 22 k and UEFA...which one you choose.

Dont blame me or HIM....blame the Capitalists! we used to be communists...1000k/month was a good money

Anonymous said...

One thing you forget though is Berbatov has 4 years REMAINING on his contract and we certainly DON'T have to sell him.

Carrick had 1 year and refused to sign an extension. We got 19million.

Yes it's tempting for him to get 75k a week and play CL for the new champions but we ain't gonna let him go ...........and it will cost ManU at least 50million..........+ Rooney ...........and Ronaldo and then....maybe.....we can talk.

Spurs will announce a new contract for Berbs in 2 weeks and we are headed for happy days.

We're on the up, big time

Anonymous said...

io know it might sound stupid. but i just thought that berba was different... i believed he really liked it at WHL and that he stay to fight it out and try to break into the top 4
on another note. why would we let him leave the transfer fees are only going to go up next summer when he scores 30 goals... he has 2 years left on his contract so he can play this comming season and then if he still wants to leave we can cash in on him a la carrick

Anonymous said...

if we sell berbatov i want to see a huge demonstration at WHL people not renewing there season tickets and people not buying our 4 NEW SHIRTS!!!

Anonymous said...

Berbat-off

Berba's contract is on for 3 more years; according to FIFA he may leave in two, but not before, unless the Club agrees.
The Club has to agree if he doesn't want to stay. When he refused time after time to be given more money by spurs, what do you think that mean? It was nice but it's over. He's almost 27, he needs a big big club now. Spurs should stick to younger players. Berbatov doesn't have 3 or 4 years to spend without wining.
Before blaming the board, just think of that. It's the best for everybody. don't want to go to spurs games anymore? Fair enough. You need a new stadium anyway.

Anonymous said...

Take no notice Spurs fans. I know it's hard not to get panicky when people say stuff like this but remember on Newsnow so many other clubs get the same stories and I'm certain that all these comments are from wind up merchants, and it doesn't help when rags like The Sun fuel their need to shit-stir with their nonsense. Berba will be at Spurs next season and if the club does the business both on the field and in the market he may stay even longer. Of course wer'e going to have months of this rubbish from our rival fans, but I suggest you ignore it and stay calm.

Anonymous said...

Well, you should be glad, people. Who said that Dawson was the best this year and next year? Congrats! Your prayers have just been answered!

Berbatov has got to face his last challenge: to be part of one of the great. until now all his clubs are just average. Only then the world will see how good he is. Either a champion or a failure. it's dangerous but it's the way set before him.

Or do you mean some other, very successful New York Yankees that nobody's heard of?

No.....NO! that 1000k/month was in communist currency...it is only about 240 pounds/week. But I believe it is still much higher tha that what you earn now rihgt?

Anonymous said...

I think he meant 1k a month.
Anyway, if Berbatov isnt in a spurs shirt at the beginning of next season i'll eat my hat with some Reggae Reggae Sauce on it.

Anonymous said...

I'm not surprised with the amount of ignorance around here concerning transfers.
First the buying club contacts the player's agent to know if the player is interested. If he is, then they prepare the bid. At the same time the agent contacts the club and informs them the player wants to go. Normally a letter follows, signed by the player. At the same time conversations start between the two clubs.
So, how much do you know about the development of the case? For sure Man U and Spurs are in permanent contact due to Nani, Saha and Bale. How difficult is to include Berba in that, if Berba wants to?
The worst is the backlash by the fans. But the Club is protected with the letter of resignation by the player. What will happen is that the fans who "loved" Berba so much yesterday will hate him tomorrow. It has already started. But he has to face that. It's what he deserves for his flirting with the fans all the season long. Somebody warned him, time after time not to do it. Now , either he's a coward and his career is gone, or he leaves and faces the hungry fans as Ronaldo did. The more they boo him, the more he scores. I pray this is the choice because I do really LOVE Berbatov and I want the best for him.And he doesn't owe anything to Spurs!

As for the comment that this info is blog gossip, I wish people would stop thinking the world begins and ends in London. This started because a few days ago Berbatov said on a talkshow he didn't know if he was playing for Tottenham next season. So, the press went to his agent who said he had not been in Manchester yet, but he was aware of their interest. He also said he was not going to sign a new contract with Spurs. Things moved on when the media knew his agent was going to England now. Who told them about the meeting on the 29th it's not clear, but certainly it's no rumour. Maybe this is just a meeting to put an end to all the speculation, but maybe it's something else. If Berba wrote that letter Spurs best interest is to let him go. Also the 39 million are exagerated, but Spurs will get a load of money to buy younger players.
I'm sure that if this all just media gossip Berba himself will talk to the media today, because the pressure over him right now is overwhelming. If he keeps his silence, I'll know what he means.
Signed: Know it all.

Dimitar Berbatov's agent has rejected speculation linking the player with a move away from Tottenham and says the Bulgarian is open to holding talks over a new deal at White Hart Lane.

Reports on Friday suggested Manchester United were preparing a massive player plus cash deal to lure Berbatov to Old Trafford.

Berbatov's future has been the subject of intense speculation for the last few months following his stellar displays this term for Tottenham.

The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and United are all thought to be weighing up moves for the former Bayer Leverkusen man.

Spurs are keen to keep hold of the talented forward and are believed to be ready to offer Berbatov a lucrative new deal to persuade the player to stay.

Berbatov's agent Emil Dantchev rejected the rumours of a possible move away and insists his client is happy to have talks over a new deal at White Hart Lane.

"I have seen the reports but it is all just speculation," Dantchev told skysports.com

"Nothing has changed - Dimitar is under contract at Tottenham.

"He is happy there and he has had a wonderful season.

"Dimitar is currently on his holidays and then he is away with the national team for some games.

"If Tottenham want to talk about a new deal we will be happy to have talks as everybody is happy at the moment."

NEWS FLASH:
( I swear if anyone says this is gossip I'll kill them myself)

Berbatov spoke today, as expected, but ever the gentleman he said: let's hang on!
He's staying at CSKA training center keeping his form for the two matches ahead with the national team against Belarus. He said that's all he thinks about right now. He said he was glad he had such a good season and that he could show the English people how good the Bulgarian footballers can be. He didn't say one word about Spurs but he didn't run away from the question we all have in mind. The reply, with good translation, was:

If there's any truth about my transfer to MU is greatly exagerated and it goes high above my head, as you all know. So let's hang on and concentrate on the next games.

( I repeat: if anyone says this is gossip, I'll kill them myself).

What do you all make of that? It confirms beyond any doubt that things are moving, but it also confirms that he's not sure he's allowed to leave. What we don't know, but the Club knows for sure, is if he produced that letter requesting to go.

Please don't you all thank me too loud and at the same time.

Signed: know it all who loves Berbo more than his mother.

Anonymous said...

Cheers, know it all, mate!

His statement confirms he's interested in going but he knows that depends entirely on the Club. If a player is not interested there are no negotitians to begin with and today he had the perfect opportunity to say: no, it's a lie, I'm not leaving,
but he didn't.
I say let him go. He was great for us this year but maybe next year he's not that good, if he stays because he has to. It's difficult enough to motivate players, even when they are there 100 per cent.
