Rampant Tottenham Hotspur Thrash Fulham: The Fans Go Wild!

Make no mistake, Tottenham didn't knock Barcelona out of the Champion's League this teatime.

But what they did achieve was getting shot of a mediocre firm that had previously been overindulged both at WHL & away.

Balance of sorts has been restored.

Keane's powerful, emphatic goals were reminiscent of season's gone by and Berbatov will surely be headhunted by the Royal College Of Surgeons after the cool and clinical brace he helped himself to today.

Where Tottenham distinguished themselves was in their combined grit and determination.

When the first goal went in I tell you I was ecstatic then almost immediately convinced that it was written we were going to blow it on Coleman's Highbury - esque pitch.

But no. Spurs not only weathered the workmanlike counter attacks, but they stood their ground.

And fought on.

Well done you Spurs. We always love you, but today some pride was restored.

Today WAS about knocking Tottenham Hotspur out the FA Cup.

And Fulham weren't able for it by some four goals.

Eexcellent football, probably top 3 performance this season along with chelsea and besiktas. Not sure what jol has said, but, damn, it worked.
Let's not get too carried away, after all this was only Fulham, a team we should beat every time out. However, lets bask in a little glory.

I said it before, we were owed a performance after recent shocking results and we got one. All credit to the team, even Mido, who seemed to have a massive point to prove. Unfair to single out individuals, as the whole team stood up and was counted. But, Robbo played the best he has for a long time and Keane was magnificent.

Let's hope this is the start on the road to recovery and not another false dawn.

Anyhow, well played Spurs - proud of you today. Looking forward to Monday at work for the 1st time in a long time! What odds arsecum in the next round........

i think the biggest point to draw from today's result is beating Fulham 2-0 would have been a pretty decent result. 4-0 after our recent run of poor play is a testament to the premiership winning potential we have. We did this with the left wing problem still ever looming. Bring on next season!!

Well I said blagging a win would do, but oh so much more happened yesterday. We walked out of the pub for the first time this year looking at the sky instead of the pavement. We don’t get may great times but hey maybe just maybe it’s worth being a Spurs fan afterall.

before people get too carried away with all this back slapping can you try and remember that this was a victory over a team, who lets face it are shite and yet we couldn't overcome them on two pathetic attempts in the league. Yes it was a highlight in an otherwise miserable season but even in the cups when we came up against a decent team we totally capitulated even with a two goal start. It is league form that counts and when you have teams like Reading and Bolton showing more consistancy and backbone than our sunday leaguers it is hard to stomach. Performances like yesterday, which was average at best are the least we should expect, not just on a cup sunday in february, but week in, week out against allcomers. sorry to break the spell you are under but unless we win a trophy and pull the socks up in the prem the only positives to come out of this season will be knowing who to sell on in the summer. I also think that the time in the summer should be spent wisely in considering the coaching and scouting structure. Are hughton, allen et al going through the motions, do they have what it takes to coach at this level. Do our scouts have the vision of those across North London? I think not, so why not? These questions need to be asked even when indulging ourselves in a rare celebration. The tide is still a long way from turning and we might do well to remember that.

you miserable bastard!
how can you say yesterdays performance was average? how many teams will go to fulham and beat them 4-0?
with all the negative posts of recent weeks, is time we allowed ourselves some basking in glory without getting carried away! lets hope our season recommences now

Great result, good performance. We looked like we were interested in our own performance rather then worried about the oppositions. We concentrated on our game and played it well. A well timed win for BMJ!

I would really like to know what people's thoughts are on Mido after yesterdays game.

This season he has looked lost, out of shape and out of form. Against Fulham he played a dreadful pass back which incurred Robbo's displeasure, only then to try and score in his own net!

On the plus side he set up the win, didnt he? 2 assists, 2-0 up, the rest is a walk in the park for the team?

Your views?

in 25 years of support, i have seen them lift the cup in 81 and 82 although my memory of these halcyon days is that of a child. i vividly remember the uefa cup in 84 and the hiatus until the 91 victory. I then remember feeling almost dirty while on my knees celebrating a win in the league cup final. I don't remember a better season in the league since 86-87, but i have seen many poor performances in the league since. I remember being in a swimming pool in greece when i read what was the turning point for spurs in their history. A disaster of a manager called rioch was signing dennis bergkamp for the scum while we were tying up the services of chris armstrong. The rest is history. I have had many a tour of duty and hav the scars to prove it. I think my cynicism can be blamed on post traumatic stress disorder or shell shock as it was called then. Optimism has cost me dear, not more so than May 06. I speak the truth.

i recall all of your points and we are probably of about the same vintage as my recollections are as a child as well. i wholeheartedly agree with your points. all i'm doing is basking in a bit of glory!
i dont think youre cynical, just honest. no offence meant. i just hope, as i said in a previous post, this is the start and not another false dawn!

by the way, anyone does what kind of ornaments are in the FA Cup? someone told me it's fishes!? but I don't believe it.

Great result yesterday, and a performance to match. But where have all the naysayers gone? The "Jol doesn't understand tactics" mob who would have howled with rage at the inclusion of Mido if the result was different.Where have the "Defoe is better than Keane" brigade disapeared off to? Or the "Hughton should be sacked" gang(this is the lowest call of all for any Spurs fan to make)
Not to worry, I'm sure you'll all be back after our next poor result repeating the same old nonsense.

Jol deserves our support and patience while he continues to build this young team into real top 4 contenders. It will take another two seasons to get us there-but I don't know a shorter route, and the naysayers certainly dont have anything positive to contribute

Jol can stay if he can get the team to play like that more often. Still think he is not very good coach though.

As I said, it was FULHAM we beat, however I don't think that there's any harm in enjoying the win.

As a wise man wrote.. even though it was Fulham who does go to there and do them 4-0? Not everyone.

And I wasn't alone in my take on the game. Jamie Rednapp was on SKY saying the same thing shortly before the KO. That match WAS all about knocking Tottenham out the cup. Kicking us while we were down and reinforcing that this season wasn't going anywhere.

Fulham were pleased to see us.

Our last performance there was a bloody joke and they felt all they had to do was nick a goal and we'd crumble.

what a nice feeling today just waiting to watch it again on sky would like to say that for once it was nice to see us out battle a team then finish them of clinically, mido and keane worked well together as we already know, dimi came on and did the rest and what a cheeky finish for no 4 brilliant.the midfield was where the game was won teemu and zokora looked a good combination battling hard then playing it simple to our attacking players, and zokora's run for the 3rd goal was a delight to see as he has had so much negative press he showed why we payed 8.2m for him hope this performance can kick start him and our season nto a good finish, but then again it depends on a favourable fa cup draw but can you actually see us getting one?...........

Anonymous said...

yes, hh, you're right, but sidney is right too. we must be happy but we must look ahead. the team and the manager have to keep winning. that's it.

and the cup? are there any fishes or not?

"jol not a good coach"
how can you say that would a bad coach have got a reaction out of his players like yesterday if he didn't know what he was doing,he's had time this week with his players and whatever he has done on the training pitch or his pre-match talk has definatley had an effect.........

florida pete here..(in s africa) has anyone else had the notion that zokora might be affected by his malaria problem..he was super effective when he had settled in, then had a bout, was shite for about 2 months, now hes coming good again?? Mido is not a great footballer, does have heart, but not enough I fear, seeya in the summer....Robbo redeemed himself finally, now onwrds and upwards please...

admittedly i'd rather have been at home but when we play them away it may be a blessing.

Morinho will probably play his "lesser" team against us to put one up Wenger. Either way I reckon we'll spank the soon to be most bankrupt club in london.

deal with it chelsea you mugs. You know it WILL happen.
