Spurs Assailed By Racist Chelsea Fans

What are your your thoughts on the 'hissing' by Chelsea fans at Tottenham fans yesterday?

There was one particular instance where the Spurs fans sang, 'Shall we sing a song for you?' and the Chelsea fans responded enmasse with this 'hissssssssssssssssssssssssssss' noise. The noise I'm referring to wasn't made by a 'mindless few' either. The Sky microphones picked it up distinctly. The bulk of their fans were doing it.

Clearly this is an anti semitic noise designed to remind us all of the gassing of Jews in WW2. .

How do Tottenham fans feel about this behaviour? Is it any different to the monkey noises made toward coloured players in the 80's?

'Is there any place for the Holocaust in the modern game?' seems a bizarre question to ask. Until you have Chelsea at home

Strange. I heard this exact same thing at the Arsenal home game last year. No one seemed to mention it afterwards. Why are we singling out the Chelsea fans?

Anonymous said...

Also, was Terry guilty of racism? Moments before being sent off he said something to Ledley King, which led to a reaction from all of our African/French players, can anyone who was behind the goal shed any light on what was said?

Anonymous said...

With the fact that Ledley is half Jewish too (his mother is a Sephadi Jew from Newbury Park) it must have been something racist and derogatory. This must be stamped out

Anonymous said...

Dude,Why cant u guys simply acknowledge that u played well on the day, rather than crying on what chelsea fans were doing to respond to the taunts by spurs.
do get xtra pleasure by blaming chelsea for everything?

Anonymous said...

bit of a disgrace. if we had lost then would we be allowed to mention the hate but since we won we can't?

Anonymous said...

do you think its right that spurs fans call themselves yido's? i dont and i think that is racist.

Anonymous said...

@ Big Chaviin

If you'd bothered to find out WHY spurs fans call themselves Yids you'd understand what a woefully ignorant question that is...

Anonymous said...

Phil Mitchell, Grant Mitchell and all the other 'cockney' hardmen The chavscum fans style themselves on...you boys took one hell of a beating...

Racist Terry, whinging Jose, Cheating Drogba... i say this to you. ha ha ha.

The boys are back in town.

The club is actually stamping down on the 'Yido' chants and songs being used even by our supporters.

Anonymous said...

I wondered if Terry had said something racist to king. all our black players went after him.

Anonymous said...

If you knew anything you would realise spurs took on the name yiddo because it was to mock the racist abuse given by other fans in the past. Therefore probably the best response to give to abuse like this. Chelsea are a disgrace and everyone in football knows it.

COYS said...

Spurs have been called 'Yids' for years!! Go to a spurs game and see how many jewish people attend and shout out 'YID' If it was racist do you not think they may have something to say? Idiot, try writing in on something you know about!

the spurs saying yids because they are turning the taunts against their attackers does not hold water.

this is currently being reviewed by Spurs and the FA, and will have to be eventually stamped out.

only then will you be able to punish other teams' fans for racism.

Spurs have won! Let's close this chapter and begin gunning for our next derby...Ass-anal! We must boost confidence (as our magnificent Martin jol said) and try yto beat Ass-anal too...and demonstrate Spurs supremacy on London!!

Come on you Spurs
I love being a YID!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Regardless of any debate as to whether the term 'yiddo' is acceptable, let me state categorically that any 'gassssss' chants is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. End of.
I hope that, having said that, you might consider that some of the remarks made in the comments section that JT made a racist comment (proof: then only African / French players intervened) is out of order.
(Begrudgingly) congrats on your win. I'm not going to deny that you deserved it.

Anonymous said...

I didn't hear any hissing from Block 45. And there is no way on earth that JT would make a racist remark, EVER. So just enjoy your win - it had to happen one day.

Anonymous said...

Couldnt give a shiit to be honest. What the silly cnuts dont realise is that since Roman took over most of their board are now jews, also the nuveu fans thay have now attracted, plenty of them are jewish. Arsenal can hiss all they like, they have just as many jews supprting them as us.

Anonymous said...

Coys - you talk total rubbish. I know a lot of black people address each other with the 'n' word.....so by your reckoning I am ok to use it as well. Don't try and make out that you are not being racist because you have see jews saying it. You are mearly a niave 'sheep' who follows the crowd and the justifies their actions like a 5 yr old.

Anonymous said...

Phew the chelsea fans say they didnt hear gassing noises and that Terry didnt make a racist comment, they are after all a collection of the most liberal and friendly of fans.

ha ha ha.

Shut it Chavscum. You are racist thugs to a man.

skin heads. tattoos. 'who you lookin at?' etc etc...

why didnt terry complain? why wouldnt he make eye contact with chimbonda? No comment after the match. BANG TO RIGHTS> NOTHING HE CAN SAY. KEEP HIS HEAD DOWN HOPE IT BLOWS OVER.

You chavvy scum.

Anonymous said...

to say spurs cant say anything about racism until they stop saying YIDS is ridiculous. If you had a brain cell you would realise what a stupid comment that was. Mocking the gas noise is another level of racist abuse and needs to be stamped out long before spurs chanting yids is.

Anonymous said...

Spurs fans using the term yids is the absolute opposite of racism. It's a unification of all fans behind the Jewish element of our support. It was a statement to all racist fans of other teams that if you pick on this section of our support, you pick on us all. Unfortunately it appears that there is still a lot of stupidity and ignorance in football as some of the comments on this page have made evident.

THIS IS ALL WRONG! THEY DID NOT HISS!! THE SONG GOES - SHALL WE SING A SONG FOR YOU AND THEN WE SAY SSSHHHHH - WAITING FOR THEM TO SING. WE DO EXACTLY THE SAME WHEN WE ARE THE PAXTON TO GIVE US A SONG.

I HATE CHELSKI AS MUCH AS THE NEXT SPURS FAN BUT IT WAS 'SSHH' NOT HISSING. IF YOU DONT BELEIVE ME THEN ALL THE OTHER FEW HUNDRED YIDO'S AROUND ME IN THE PARK LANE ARE WRONG AS WELL!!! STOP GUESSING AT THE CHANTS ON THE TV!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

i was at the game as well and i thought it was hissing. Alright going to the game is different to watching it on tv but there are alot of things people at the games miss as well. Defending things by saying i was at the game is rubbish.

Anonymous said...

Congrats on buying a ticket. So did I.

They were hissing.

Anonymous said...

Of course we're all chavvy scum with tattoos etc....says the lovely little Tottenham supporters who go around spitting on women and children when they lose matches. It is only Tottenham and Liverscumbags who do this.

FYI, I'm female and Jewish. There are idiots who follow every team - football breeds them. Personally, I heard a nice chorus of "we'll be running round Tottenham with our...." but no hissing. The majority of CFC supporters aren't racist idiots, as I expect the majority of Tottenham supporters aren't either.

I think you'll find that the majority of players that John Terry plays with are black. His first captain at Chelsea (Marcel Dessaily) was black. I repeat - NO WAY EVER WOULD HE MAKE A RACIST REMARK. He was sent off - he left the pitch quietly. Shame most other players don't. Why stay and rant, a red card isn't going to get rescinded and you'd get a larger ban. It was also the first time he's ever been sent off. I would expect him to be devastated.

Anonymous said...

They weren't hissing. At the end of that chant everyone goes "shhhhhhhhhhhhhh...", as in "listen to how quiet it is"...

You internet spastics.

Kym B said...

I'm jewish and proud to call myself, and my team, Yids. It is not offensive to me, as it is a sign of solidarity, with a bunch of non-jewish people standing side by side with us to take on a racist slur and take any sting out of it. I don't believe any of the jewish people supporting Tottenham Hotspur have a problem with us using this term; it smacks more of political correctness than anything else.

As far as the gas chamber hissing thing; West Ham fans do it to us too. Why pick on Chelsea's neo-supporters?

Anonymous said...

Don't know if anyone else noticed but as we were walking out past the South stand the Chelsea fans that the police had hemmed in were all hissing. The guy infront of me said something about it to one of the policeman on horseback who just waved him on and took no notice. If they'd been doing monkey chants they'd all be banged up and banned from every ground in the country by now.

We can't make too many assumptions about what Terry said though - from the BBC replays on MOTD2 it just looked like he shouted "F*ck off, f*ck off prick" at Ledders.

Whatever you make of the details though it was a brilliant game and an equally great result.

Forgive me if I don't share your love for Terry. HH is on the mark calling him a dog. He cheats on women he cheats on the park, he's a cock and him being sent off is long overdue.

One point you don't address by the way, sweetheart is why none of our white players were chasing him.

Anonymous said...

Terry and King have known each ther for years from their Senrab days, so i doubt it was a racist slur. Besides, we got the 3 points and that's what counts!!

Anonymous said...

i was 10 yards away from the chelsea fans, they did not make any hissing sounds

Anonymous said...

Whats the point of discussing whether Chelsea are racist neanderthals or not?

Watch the thugs making monkey noises in the pub whenever chelsea are live.

Since the russian has started laundering his money through Chelsea they have become a beacon to all the BNP and right wing skin heads in england.

It was bad enough three years ago when they had only 6000/7000 fans but now they are everywhere with their love/hate tattooed knuckles.

Anonymous said...

I agree completely with DJB. It was the Spurs fans saying SSSSHHH not the Chelsea fans hissing at us, though it wouldn't have been the first time.

The reason we were chanting that, is that the Chelsea support was abysmal. They only sing when they're winning...

Anonymous said...

Why are you trying to put a big cloud over what the boys have achieved today, when it should be our moment in the sunshine?

Anonymous said...

Oh dear, Chavs go a tumblin, you really do have a problem! No monkey noises have been heard at the Bridge for decades! Like I said, you get a few imbeciles who follow every team. The type of support most successful teams get has changed, nowhere more significantly so than Chelsea.

Anonymous said...

What a dopey "armchair" comment this is. As DJB says above, it's "Shhh" not some paranoid hiss. It follows shall we sing a song as a sign of how quiet the home fans are. It allows a moment for something to come back. When it doesn't come back it's a dismissive "arggghhhhh" because spuds don't sing unless they're winning (that is, they rarely ever sing because they're so rarely winning).

Typical of your incessant whining - just as it's ever been.

The suggestion of a racist comment from Terry is also completely and totally ridiculous. Terry and Ledley are old friends from when they played at Senrab together with Zamora and Samuel of Villa.

Your big mouth, armchair paranoia just about sums up the whining ignorance we always have to put up with from you tossers. At least we didn't have to run the usual gauntlet of violence on the way out of the stadium. Not that you'd know that, wrapped up warm with your blanky an cocoa in front of the box. You are a joke.

to 1.53 anonymous. I was standing out of my armchair on the Shelf and didn't hear the Chelsea "support", if thats what you call it, hiss. Mainly because I didn't hear them say anything at all. You call that support? Best you go back to your swanky "used to be a bank" cocktail bar and have a Metropolitan.

Anonymous said...

John Terry has played alongside and against many black players with no such racism in evidence. So while the fans are scum, people should not be too quick to condemn Terry. Those players might just have reacted because he had fouled them all over the time he was on the pitch.

Anonymous said...

'Coloured players in the 80's' What colour were they, blue? green? If you are going to publish a comment about racism, perhaps you should choose you words more carfully. black, that's B-L-A-C-K, Spurs fan.

Anonymous said...

The hissing was actually Spurs fans saying Sssssshhhhh due to the lack of vocal support from the chelsea fans

Anonymous said...

Racist wannabe hardmen?

First, justify the description, which you've singularly failed to do except on the basis of a failed interpretation off Sky (read the original article). Then understand that you don't know what your own fans already do (numerous comments above).

Finally, realise that what you're feeling now, we've felt 30+ times consecutively over the last 19 years coming ou of three point lane. That's how long everyone's laughed at the spuds.

Anonymous said...

are you asking me to believe that you have been a chelsea fan thoughout the 30+ previous games? Surely you jest?

You should really stop living in the past chelsea fans, those games are in the past, as is the horrible racist chanting of the 70s and 80s. Chelsea please try and catch up with football in the 21st century.

The F.A and Tottenham themselves distance the club from any connection with the term Yido's. It is just something some fans sing and every1 starts singing thats all. "Chelsea Fans In Racist Shame At White Hart Lane"

I read this headline and thought, what have those cretins done now. But reading the original post, I was highly sceptical about this so-called hissing.

Having read the comments from Spurs and Chelski fans alike, any reasonable person would say 'Harry Hotspur is talking shite'.

Clearly, the so-called 'hissing' was actually both Chelsea and/or Spurs fans shushing each other.

And as Chelsea fans have pointed out, it's such a shitty defamation that it makes Spurs fans look like losers, even when we're winning.

We won an important game, put a dent in their title hopes, and saw our own side come of age. There's no need for lies about their fans.

I say, Take Down This Shitty Post And Apologise You Wanker.

And that's from someone who became a Spurs fan while watching a really good Spurs-Chelsea game.

1967 FA Cup Final. Where you there, Harry?

Didn't think so.

I've seen Hoddle at both clubs, Gilzean, Chivers and Mackay playing Leeds with Jckie Charlton.

What you mean is you haven't seen them for that long.

For newbies, look to yourself. I was there when we were good, then shit, then good again, then shit again and also now when we're mashing everything in sight, letting the small clubs have their occasional day in the sun.

As 4:11 says "it's such a shitty defamation that it makes Spurs fans look like losers, even when we're winning."

But we knew that already. I await the apology and retraction.

this was my first trip in over 15 years to what we commanly (before sunday) referred to as 3 point lane - I was in the Chelsea section (lower tier) and I heard nothing of the kind. Chelsea's support did seem subdued and I remember many occasions that the Spurs fans were singing "Shall we sing a song for you?". apart from the demented old crone right behind me screaching insults at several of the Chelsea players i didnt hear anything of an offensive nature. there certainly wasnt any hissing that i was aware.

BTW - well done to the Spurs fans for creating a cracking atmosphere. It made for a great game (but we'll still do you next time)

I was in the Chelsea end yesterday. I'm black and my wife is jewish; our kids are both. The so-called hissing was the usual "can you hear the Tottenham sing.. Sssshhh." Poll came out and said he booked JT for holding King, not for what he said. I'm a fervent antiracist and you really do the cause of eliminating it from football nothing but harm with unsubstantiated claims like this.

Do the Chelsea Head Hunters still exist?
Have they retired and now working for community based projects for refugee integration?

Probably not.

If they are not dead or in prison I reckon they are still going to the games. I doubt if they have had a miraculous change of heart either.

My point is; we all know the common view of Chelsea mob is racist, they even used to hate their own black players. Whether ther was hissing or not,It takes a long time for these boneheads to shrivel up and die.............

You know what, I was impressed by Spurs yesterday. I'm even more impressed by the amount of Spurs fans who refuse to jump on the bandwagon and critisise the Chelsea fans.
I think they are right, we lost , you won, what more do you want - as for suggesting JT had been racist - how do you work that out? If he had do you really think none of the spurs players would have made it known to the press?
As for the fool suggesting chelsea fans are all yobs because of past problems, have you ever seen spurs yid army in action? I have, doesn't make you a thug though does it? no, just a plank who really has no clue. I went to the first game at WHL at the beginning of the run, I was 21 then! It just had to end. Glad it happened in a good game

They may be knuckle dragging mindless racist thugs, but they always get slapped, so not that hard at all really? Cant remember the last time they had a result over us?

Shocking for you to suggest that Terry is a racist. He learned his trade under Desailly, played or plays alongside Melchiot, Gallas, Makelele, Drogba, Carlton Cole, SWP, Essien, and numerous others. Are you cretinous enough to suggest that these players would just "put up with" Terry being a racist because he's their captain?

What a sad little man you are.

Anonymous said...

Sorry boys and girls your all a bunch of twats. If any of you would have been at the game and not sitting in doors you would have realised that once we sang "can we sing a song for you" it was us the Yid Army that happened to put our finger to our lips and make a ssshhhhh noise in order to create silence for the non existant Chelsea fans to reply !!! Which also didnt happen !

Anonymous said...

JIGSNUTS= JOHN TERRY said to LEDLEY KING, " stop holdin on to me you black c--t
just f--k off". i was behind the goal and i actually heard it myself! im deeply upset by the ENGLAND captain, BBC cameras showed it on motd2, once, but SKY refuse to show it from that angle, obviously as he would have be stripped of the armband for England! i dont think jt is racist but it was a spur of the moment comment as he knew his team were about to lose!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

12.24 - Finally some sense. I'm a true Spurs fan through and through. We deserved the win yesterday and we got it. I personally thought JT must have said something the way the Spurs and Chelsea's black players crowded him. I dont think JT is a raceist, it was just the heat of the moment (his team were loosing after all and football is run on passion) which is why he walked off without a fuss coz the ref probably heard it aswell. I've got quite a lot of black friends and we all have a bit of a joke about it between ourselves but that doen't make us racist!! Does it?

Dear Plebs, please read this.

Yid = Yiddisher = A Jew.

Brit = Britisher = A Briton.

Aussie = An Australian.

Paki = A Pakistani.

Eyetie = Italian.

Pole = Polish.

All these words are shortened versions of longer words which describe something about a persons nationality or creed. Although any of these words 'can' be used in a derogatory way. They are none of them derogatory words in themselves.

Nigger. Coon. Cracker. Wap. Wog. Towelhead etc are words which were coined for the purpose of belittling others. ANY word can be used in a derogatory way by anybody if they so wish. Wishing to ban words everytime someone chooses to give it a negative slant is linguistically impractical and plain silly not to mention that it hands a degree of power and control over to the perpetrators of ignorant bigotry.

I have known black people who use the word nigger but would not appreciate it if I did.(I'm white)
It's a derogatory word. Quite right.

I have known jews who use the word yid and have no problem with my using it. They know I'm not using it in a derogatory way. They have no problem. Quite right.

We must learn not to be simplistic oversensitive or reactionary in our thinking if we are to succesfully distinguish between agressive bigotry and innocent slang.

Peace, Yid15
