Spurs In Europe: The Besiktas Bearpit & That Tottenham Touch

Besiktas will face our best defence as reports come in that Ledley King is in Turkey and strongly tipped to start in Tottenham's third UEFA match on Thursday night. Thank the sweet Lord. The Besiktas stadium has been touted as a real bearpit and we'll want Ledders standing tall.

The 'business' end of the squad will obviously be fronted up by Berbabtov and Defoe. And therein lies the rub. We hardly outclassed Prague's seventh best team last time out and that was primarily down to our inability to score. If we are to make genuine progression in this tournament then you don't need to be a rocket scientist to see we need goals. Spurs have to keep their shape and translate quality passing into ruthless finishing. The long ball and chasing will ensure disaster. We need to see that 'Tottenham Touch' again.

Don't get me wrong, needs must when the devil drives, I'll take oddments from Jenas and Juan Pablo Angel even, but we desperately need Defoe and Berby to bury the damn thing in the back of the net with some degree of class - pronto.

Whatever happens we've got to make top 3 surely? Can't wait for the game. Really good to be back in europe. Hope we begin to click and start banging em in soon. I know it'll happen just hope it's tomorrow.

is about time our forwards start scoring full stop. even charlton who have won 1 lost 7 have scored more - darren bent - why didnt we get him. we only beat sheff utd in the goals scored stakes!

its time to perform. the season starts now. stop pissing about spurs and stick the ball in the sodding net. 2-0 to us tomorrow and a 5-0 spanking of the spammers on sunday will do for starters. then watch us go on an unbeaten run and climb the table - maybe?

the time for settling in new players blah blah blah is over. the top players earn more in a week than i do in a year - lets see them earn it. lesson 1 - put round white thing in opponents white rectangular thing. i dont give a shit who plays tomorrow and sunday, or what formation - 532 442 424 451 433 352 127 for all i care, just start scoring some fucking goals. what do you reckon vincenzo?

sorry, rant over.

I'm reading The Glory Game at the moment, about the 72 season when we won the FIRST UEFA Cup. Scoring goals was key to advancing, especially away.

Let's hope we continue in the competition with some good results....maybe our best times will be in the cup competitions this year!

naive and generous of spirit, that's me!

dannyboy.....532 442 424 451 433 352 127
What happens if I call this number?

yes yes yes !!!

ok, this was only besiktas and not an ac milan, but what a fantastic result in such an intimidating atmosphere.
probably the best performance this season and finally a striker scores a goal!
if keane had a banjo, do you think he could hit a cows backside though?!

the team so obviously read my rant from yesterday haha :-)

huddlestone played with a maturity beyond his years, so easy to forget he's only 19. dawson was immense as ever. thought jenas was superb. berbatov simply class.

the big big difference was that the passion was back. we fought for every ball and never let them settle.

just hope we dont suffer a european hangover on sunday. bring on the spammers!!
