Marcello Moreno is the chaps name.
THFC I am told, put in an offer of £4 million.
Shaktar have allegedly had a £7 million bid rejected, so hey. But we're in Tevez territory here. Uh oh. Yeah, this chap barely owns his own shoes. Cruzeiro only own 40% of him and the suggestion is that they aren't killing themselves to sell him because they'll only get a proportion of the transfer fee.
Arthur Daley says, "Mickey Mouser forums have been mentioning his name for a while and Real have also mumbled his moniker. Gawd knows, Terry, large VAT."
Here's the ubiquitous You Tube footage, of what might've/could've been. I mention this as I am given to understand we will go back in for him.
***BONUS INFO***
The Source of Sources tells me we had people in Manchester last night in relation to a certain tip top Russian who I tipped as a possible signing earlier. His native American Indian Name is Resulted In Hairless Bottom.

When i watched the game last night i was confused as to why he was still playing for Zenit. The guy looks about 18 but he's 27 so we have to sign him now. Also i have seen quite a few videos on this Moreno, he looks like a good one he is tall and has all the flicks that Berbatov bring to our game would be a good signing, but as you said we need to watch out for the ownership rubbish. COYS
Good ol' Shavy arse. I wish I knew a bit more about Marcelo Moreno; all I know is he's fantastic on Fifa 2008. Enough proof to buy him? I think so.
Moreno be a great buy, young and very talented, b great follow up to modric signing! Only problem is, as we have seen with carrick and now berba - these players will prove how quality they are and move on after a couple of years when man u etc come knocking - it's a joke! Football is being ruined because of this - if we can keep berba and juande gets his targets we will have every chance of breaking top 4 - if we lose him its just further proof that the top 4 will always remain the same as they will continue to poach all of the world class players we have! Without berba i fear we will be starting again - 5th place! As i said its ruining the game for people like us who pay good money. It's all well and good getting 30mil for him but what do we as season tckt holders see of this? nothing! All we see is the void left by these world class players who we struggle to replace! Most important thing is to get berba to sign on this transfer window, if he does he will be like a new signing! COYS
Decent comments all round chaps, thankyou.
Wow. Why would anyone turn down the lower-half mighty Carling Cup Winners? Amazing....
"It's all well and good getting 30mil for him but what do we as season tckt holders see of this? nothing!"
I don't agree with that. If the 30mil + more is spent bringing good talent such as Moreno and several more to the club, supporters will benefit. I don't think there's much point in hanging on to players who aren't commited.
I live in Brazil and I admit I haven't seen Cruzeiro play this year so far, as the National league has just started and the State championship games are mostly a joke! But this Moreno's been spoken about since it was clear that Pato was off. Along with Lulinha (still to prove himself) and Kerlon (focinha/seal dribbler - had bad injury problems last season) Moreno seems to be one of the bright young stars of the moment. I'll be watching all the televised Cruzeiro games from now on!
The boy reminds me of Roque Santa Cruz a lot..Similar build, similar touch, plenty of quick thinking with imagination and good finishing ability plus it seems like has got enough pace too.
He would not be a first teamer but one to bed in slowly like those pikeys from hemoroids usualy do.
Etoo still the first choice to replace Berbatov then Keane,Moreno and Bent ..i think we are`talking about a truly world class attacking power here.
I said yesterday, not wanting to steal a march, ahem, but Levy needs to bust the bank for Arshavin; total quality. If he does get him, a complete and utter hard nut, a la Graham Roberts, will be required to protect a back four and midfield of Modric, Arsy and, yes, Jenas. MMMMMMM. Think of the goals..........
coys
No two ways about it, the Croatian is a gift. But I'm with you Dannyboy, the bite we 100% lack in the middle may well come from Mr Smoothbum.
""as bent as the Soviet sickle, and as hard as the hammer that crosses it. ..."
Yes please missus.
I think he's too similar to Modric, and I expect the rumblings of us signing him went away when we chose Modric instead. Like Dannyboy says, if we do get him, we need a proper hard-man in the middle as Modric and Arshavin aren't the biggest and strongest.
So, are we in for this dude, Moreno, or what? 60% of every goal he scores belongs to someone else. Fcuk, how do you stick that in the for and against columns? And, if we do get him, what'll his status be - first, second, third, fourth choice?
To my mind, we've given Berba a protracted period of grace to make up his mind whether he wants to stay or not. That's if reports are true - and I believe everything I hear on Sky Sports. Sh*t, even the Queen doesn't get as long when she's deliberating over melon versus prawn cocktail for starter. Make up yer mind, son, or do one.
Oh - and if you can't decide - just consider the words of one James Peter Greaves: "We signed to play until the day we died, and we did." Absolutely absurd, but romantically irresistible at the same time.
Eto'o, Villa, Moreno - they is all a-comin' to WHL. Goals are what we do. At both ends. So, should we be worried that we still have no one to keep goal? Nah. Here's why: the secret redevelopment plans will affect the Spurs goal only - by turning it 90 degrees - leaving the stadium and pitch as it is. With the sticks at a right angle, we'll barely need a keeper at all. Sh*t, we managed without one for most of this season, so it's not as if it were a priority.

We appear to be replacing our English contingent with players who helped dump England out of the Euros. Makes perfect sense to me as a dollop of that elusive ingredient 'winning mentality' can't hurt. (Insert negative comment about Jenas here. I can't be bothered, it's too easy)

excellent quote from Greavsie.. love it..
ya let's get Arshavin in.. although he's got Champions League football with Zenit next year so why would he bother..
i wish someone would take Jenas off our hands..
so have we sold ghaly? whats he up 2 these days?!
Am I going potty or did I hear Gus Poyet say on Sky Sports News (he was at a charity match) that we're giving Berba a deadline of the 3rd July to decide if he's staying?
I want Arshavin in asap along with Veloso and Capel.
Capel Veloso Modric Arshavin
Now that would be a top 4 midfield
Sadly, Ghaly isn't keen to commit to 2nd tier football, so we need to deal him out all over again, but I'm sure it would only take 2 mil and one of the clubs coming up will need some depth and versatility in midfield and be desperate enough to swing for him.
I think the next midfield target will most likely br Capel from Seville. I feel that Bale can do a good job there and personally I'd rather go for a DM like Veloso, but there are so many BS rumours only time will tell!
dreadful goal celebrations - worse than Robbie's
anyone who wouldnt want us to sign Arshavin because we have Modric is off their tree. The bloke is class and can play anywhere across the midfield.
Modric and Arshavin. bring it on.
And as for Berbs, the sooner we ship the fucker out the better - because if he stays he is only gonna sulk until the next transfer window and round we will go again.
David Villa would be my choice replacement.
I think you'll find Arthur's final line should read "gawd knows Terry, large VAT please Dave"..if you gonna quote the great George Cole then please get it right.
Little dodgy maybe but underneath....
jolsgonemental - the voice of reason; long may he reign.

Jonny Howson looked a bit nifty for Leeds last night, scoring twice to get them within a game of the Championship.
Are we still in for him, HH?

"so have we sold ghaly? whats he up 2 these days?!"
Doesn't look like it. My mate tried to get Modric 14 on the back of his new Spurs shirt. The shop staff wouldn't allow it as technically Ghaly still wears the 14 shirt.
My mate tried to convince the staff that his name was Chris Modric and his favourite player was Ghaly. The Spurs shop staff weren't having any of it though.
The resourcefulness and cheek of Yids is second to none.

On getting it right, I think there is a good arguement that Arthur rarely sought to pay for his own libation if Terrence was nearby.
"i wish someone would take Jenas off our hands.."
Can't even give him away free with an opus.
I do hope Modric gets the 14 shirt, as mine has it on the back!
I saw alan hutton watching the rangers game in cathedral gardens in manchester. he was getting mobbed by weegies and didnt look too pleased
Berba leaving Ok 2 seasons ago when we signed hime didnt everyone go Berba who we wanted kuyt. This mereno looks an all round better player, younger, hungrier & more of a team player Get kemeni between the sticks CB's & capel teams will shit themselves. add arshavin in the mid with modric man you watch the team fly. Berba can fund most of this with very little outlay we could be the english seville COYS
Its always worrying when the 'YouTube Best of' video has a few spooner shots going wide.
i could make a compilation of me thast more impressive and im shat.
Like most of you I'm never 'too' impressed by youtube player mashups but the quantity & quality of arshavin's goals in this set of clips is pretty astounding.
Well I thought so anyway.
http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=arshavin+&sitesearch=
Or just go to google video and type in:
Andrey Arshavin. The Best Russian Football Player 2006
His goal at 2 mins 37 seconds is outrageous.
drooling at the thought of Arshavin (hopefully) and Modric..
Jenas won't have a hope...
just a side note on Berbs (yes i know..can of worms) but the fact that he seems to be thinking about what he's going to do next at least shows that he may want to stay after all.. a few more quality signings may swing him in our direction.. however the flip side of this is that he may not care ENOUGH about the club to want to decide straight away..
i'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt for now..some will agree with me, some won't..
i say again..imagine Berbs, Eto'o, Robbie, Modric, Arshavin and crucially NOT Jenas in the same team...
*wipes drool from mouth*
Basically (and I hate sentences that start with 'basically', but basically), our midfield just isn't good enough.
You only have to look at the qualities Arshavin brings: vigour, directness, strength, fleet-footedness, fleet-mindedness, tricksiness and... and... go-for-the-jugularness.
By contrast, our midfielders are namby-pamby and indecisive. They wait for things to happen, jumping on opportunities, rather than forcing the issue. Ramos can coach them till he and they are blue in the face but (while fully acknowledging their effort) they're just not good enough.
As for Berba, I never thought I'd see the day when Spurs fans actually look forward to him leaving. His skill and brilliance is undisputed, but is it really acceptable that he has effectively put the brakes on the club's progress by not failing to come to a decision about his future (if reports are true). FFS, if it takes that long to decide, then he's hardly passionate about Spurs.
It may just be spin. But I hope the club is steaming ahead with the pursuit of new players and tieing them down, pending wherever Berba finally proposes to grace with his presence.

ok so a season of medioca football bar the carling cup win and our best striker is sulking so naturall like every summer the transfer rumours start.
Raul,Morientes particulary stick out in my mind and this summer its no different with us already being linked with players like Gattuso, Villa and Eto.
obviously the next one to start is about this moreno bloke. i watched the vieo and although he seems to be able to have a certain drive that some of our players lack and ys his posistioning and ability to get a shot away is class but lets be honest do we really want him? great so he looks like he's banging in goals for fun but in what league? the brazzilian and lets be honest defensive players are hardly priority in that league you can see that just by the clips in the video.plus he's bolivian! how many bolivians can u name that have ever made it in the prem, most brazillians dont make it in the prem except elano nd gilberto silva.
ok so say we get 30 mil for berba, in my mind we need two keepers after robbo and cerny go in the summer,a quality centre half,a ball winner in themiddle of the park,a left winger who is genuinly left footed and plays on the left rather than the " well he can play across the midfield" malbranque style and finally a top quality striker.
im sure we will sell quite alot too and evry summer we seem to get lots of money from somewhere eg last summer with bent. so lets call it 40-50 million
so kameni gets my vote for keeper so thats 5-10 mil already.
we want a rock at centre half because it aparent letting in 77 goals in one season isnt good enough and it shows from where we finished in the league.iv heard quite a few names mentioned with the likes of david dunne and daniel jarque from espanyol and i must say id probably have either, more likely to be jarque as we'll do a liverpool and buy spanish for mr.ramos. another 5-10 mil gone
a ball winner hmmm well we did have carrick but that went to pot as usual at spurs as soon as anything gets good it is usally to good to be true! i havnt heard too much about arshavin but he seems to be raved about alot on here so maybe he could be good. personally i think we will buy someone who plays well in EURO 08 as im sure the big four will have most of the pickings already.10mil+. the obvious choice for left wing is capel for many but again id be interested to see who develops well in the EURO's and sign someone from that.another 10 mil again thats already up to 40 million on 4 players:S
so berba goes and we need the finesse and utter class that berba had. Id bloody love Eto or Villa but its not realistic and those of u thinking that are living in dreamland. why would they come to a club that just about scraped european football this season when they could go to Italy or stay in spain and be guranteed champions league football and be payed a truck load more than we can offer them. they will go to either milans in italy or madrid or barcelona in spain.
personally id love Ajax's Hunterlaar who last season scored 32 goals and scored 34 this season. Not bad for a dutch team. and also on my short list is Real Zaragoza's Diego Milito. netted 29 goals last season but went a bit flat this season with only 18 but thats only 5 from berba's total this season. either way if Hunterlaar has a good Euro 08 and can be kept out of the clutches of he big four then we could be well within a shout.
so in total we could end up spending around 50 million on 5 players! whatever happens we'll spend big, we have to if we want to contend in europe and with the big boys of the prem.

On getting it right your argument comes with a free "e". Which unless you are drug dealer with a BOGOF policy, is plainly wrong. And yes Arthur may well not have paid for his drinks but Terry certainly would not have poured it, and I think you'll find the "A large VAT please Dave" is the common declamation for a Daley in need of a drink. Oh and by the way if he wasn't planning payment a post script of "...on the slate" would be usual epitaph.
19.04 As Jenas is 24 or 25 at what age might we expect to see his potential fulfilled ?
Maybe we can loan him out till then.
Maybe Berba is just wangling a better deal ?
Maybe we'll sign a left footed left midfielder.
Maybe Darren Bent might start scoring before we sell him.
Maybe a ref will turn up at the lane who favours the home side.
Maybe George Cole never carried cash.
anon 18.55
Ramos has always preferred a 442, doubt he'll change.
I also agree with the idea that most of our signings will come after Euro 2008. We're just going to have to wait, chaps.
I expect both Elmander and Huntelaar to shine. Elmander's a bit like Berbatov in that he's tall and creative with the ball at his feet (the anti-Bent!). Huntelaar's record is obviously intimidating, hopefully we'll be able to beat out the bigger clubs to get him should he become available.
Another Swede, we should cast our eyes back to is Kim Kallstrom. Remember him? Left-footed, strong in the tackle, scores goals from the midfield, great passer. Hopefully someone will read this and misinterpret it as an ITK and then publish it on their blog which will get picked up by the BBC Gossip Column which will be happened upon by Damien Comolli's son who will then suggest it to him.

May I take this opportunity to highlight the cartoon which is hopefully still located toward the bottom of this page.
"a ball winner hmmm well we did have carrick"
btotheman, although I agree with the majority of your post, I've never seen Carrick as a ball winner. He's a great link up player and has an eye for a good pass, but I reckon far too many people have over emphasised his ability to control a game. For me he'll always be remembered as being just a little bit light weight when it came to the big games.
...and to single out Bolivians is also a bit strange. How many Argentinians were there in English football when we signed the truly great Ardilles, and not to mention a certain Bulgarian?
...Poyet, Uruguay. Ronaldo, Portugal too.
... and the little Brazilian fella that played for Boro.
Couple of interesting articles in the papers today, Harry. One suggests that Commolli is under pressure to turn around - in the current transfer market - a series of questionable and expensive previous signings. The other suggests that Eto'o's wage demands will far exceed what Spurs can offer.
Frankly, I'm dismayed at some of the issues facing the club. How, for example, do you make a profit selling Robbo: England's erstwhile Number 1 and current Number what - 3, 4, 5? It's no secret that he has been totally out of his depth this season, and it won't all be dismissed as a 'blip' in form? You would need a trememdous amount of confidence in his abilities of recovery and your own coaching-skills to invest in him as your future 'keeper.
And what of Kaboul and Boateng? Zokora was at least a better known commodity when he signed, even though, he also, is out of his depth. But the value of the other two falls commensurate to their effective redundancy at the club. Their effective exile from first-team games speaks volumes for the coach's confidence in them. On the pitch, they are a liabilty. How do you sell players who (implicitly) subtract rather than add to a team?
Gilberto, we are told, arrived at the club overweight and unfit. As a 31-year-old, I assumed that his recruitment was less of Commolli's doing, as the player did have any sell-on value. But maybe he was yet another dead duck. The times I've seen him play he has impressed and disturbed in similar quanities. Our exit from the UEFA Cup was made more likely through his error. Perhaps the error was Roamos', who ought not to have picked him for such an important game.
Bent, whom we've vilified and supported in equal measure, nonetheless cost us a lot of money. At the time, he was seen as a replacement for Defoe, who was expected to leave sooner than he did. It was unfortunate that Defoe stayed put, unbalancing further the family of (by then four) strikers. Plus, the financial outlay for Bent had to be swallowed without being offest by Defoe's presumed sale. I have no idea where Bent's future lies, but I strongly suppose it to be at Spurs next season - first, because he hasn't had much opportunity this season to prove his worth; and second (and consequently), he has surely dropped in value, following this largely anonymous season, in which he has suffered from a niggling injury and from the club pandering to Berbatov's histrionics. I absolutely abhor the notion of our proud club virtually begging and bribing the Bulgarian to stay.
As for him, it's great that the board won't favour considering selling him to another English club, but it obviously reduces their options. I suspect Berbatov has largely reduced his own options as well - here and abroad - due to his sulkiness. I want us to get as much money as we can for this man. If he doesn't owe us his loyalty for enabling him to showcase his talents to a wider and adulatory audience, he at least owes us the right to negotiate a whopping transfer fee for him. He's our piggy-bank and, when we crack it open, I hope it's stuffed with silver, not copper.

Adam Johnson seen at Spurs Lodge.
Call security.
9.37 Anon
Why on earth would we sign Adam Johnson? Do our ambitions merely stretch to trying to win the reserve league next season?
Slightly off topic and a bit geeky but Darren Bent has actually had a decent first season. He's managed to bag himself six goals and five assists in 1148 Premier League minutes. That's the equivalent of twelve and a half games. True, he hasn't got the touch or vision of Berb (and never will, he's a different type of player entirely) but he's still effective.
looks like we can forget about Eto'o lads..
Reference Commolli, whilst he has had some success, with the exception of Bale, last summers purchases were bad business. However successful Bent, Boatang and Kaboul may become 26 million was one hell of a gamble at the time and none of them have contributed much this season. Add to that the fact that both Ramos and Gus are less than impressed with the current squad and you wonder why Commolli is still there.
Let's face it, Comolli has no easy task balancing his personal affairs with his professional responsibilities to Spurs medical, academic, scouting and secretarial departments.
