Eto'o Deal Still Bubbling, Bubbala?

Well according to Spanish footy site Marca.com we're very much in for Samuel Eto'o.  No, I cannot tell you how credible Marca are.

Money wise Tottenham are thought to be in the right region. Wow. This is all a long way from the club that was once likened when negotiating for players as, 'someone wanting HP on a second hand washing machine.'

The suggestion is that there will be some class of conclusion when representatives from from both clubs meet next week. Was the London Evening Standard on the money when they said we had a born again refrigeration expert in Spain after the United tie?

All I will add is that I did hear a whisper and believe me it was a whisper that there was something pretty eye catching in the pipeline for this window ie a household name ~ still yet to come. This was largely I might add due to what I've termed, 'The Ramos Factor'. And so could this be it?

The prize for the first know it all/ nothing at all to make a you're out of your mind Harry etc etc post goes to...

Id love us to get Eto'o, sell Berba to AC Milan, meet them in the Uefa Cup and knock them out, then in the following season, meet them in the Champions League and knock them out again.

This would be heaven.......

At the moment, we are in purgatory.

Hearing the same from multiple sources is always good, and the Spanish press do have a knack for having good contacts within clubs to source info.

Harry your out of your mind....;-) Just jokin...sound slike a possability...would be a fair swap with berba if thats the route they go down...so where's my prize

C'mon then Harry son! Who do you think this household name is then?

I've been hearing positive things about Capel, a few mutterings about Ribery now (I dont think it will happen though) and Gattusso.

harry how do we get the £15 off the new shirt then matey?

Household name? Hopefully this chap.

Discount? You get £15 off when you spend over £25 (the shirt IS over £25) when you click through and order via the links on HH.

Easy.

Shame the shirt is £49 to start with on there!

Berbatov can pissed off as far as I'm concerned. What a hypocrite..When he first arrived , he was all kitty humble. After some attention from Man U, his ass is too big for WHL.

Agreed with anaon 15:51, can't wait to play Berba "other team".Hope our boys give him a good kick in the process.

Would love to sign Eto'o - weren't we in for him a few years back?

I just can't seem to reconcile his comments of "I want to win titles and if I can do that here I'll go somewhere else" with a move to Spurs, where let's be honest, he has substantially less chance of winning titles.

I also put it to you sirs, that £27m is a lot for Eto'o who, at the end of the day, is a "rich man's Bent".

History tells us with big names like this to, quite literally, believe it when we see it.

Clearly I meant "can't do that here"

If we get Etoo great. Use Berba like hes used us to our advantage. Im praying that the other household name is Gattuso. Ive advocated this signing on so many sites now Im getting a little bored of writing it. But I will stand strong and insist that we get both Etoo and Gattuso. Quality and guts. Put them on a solid base of Woodgate King Hutton and Bale and well definately be in contension for Champions League and a Cup (any cup would be fine im not that fussy as long as we win something)

Gattuso would be immense.

I'm sorry but even though I dream as high as the rest of you, I cannot see a top four finish next season unless we get a completely new midfield.

How many of our midfield would start at any of the other top four. Modric is unproven but even if he does live up to it that would be only one.

Look at man utd in midfield - ronaldo, carrick, hargreaves, anderson, nani, park, scholes, giggs and even sometimes rooney plays on the wings. Taking Modric as our best midfielder, is he better than any of those? Maybe nani. Even fletcher is better than zokora and arguably jenas based on consistency.

We need strength in depth and also I just cannot see signing Eto'o. He wants champs league. He deserves it.

Sad situation but true.

maybe its c*nts like you that convinced berba he "deserves" champs league! prick if it all went to your reckoning we may as well pack up n all go home coz it will just be the same shit boring crap year after year with the same teams! Don't think its the case thank fuck and maybe our multi trophy winning manager(check his cv,already got 1 in england and only been here 5mins!) can convince a few to join him and put us in with a shout! seville shouldn't of got in it by your reckoning either twat

calm down.

a reaction like that means its struck a chord with u.

thats cos what i say is the sobering reality. im as lilly white as the next guy and i love our players - even dawson. but if we genuinely want to break the top four - we need a new midfield or you need some realism.

refute what i said in something other than - "oh our manager is proven in la liga".

he won a cup here, thats great, and i don't take that away from him. i think he is the right manager but i think it takes more than that. i dont think the best manager in the world could break the top four on what we've got alone unless someone else mucks up.

Anonymous said...

No but a good manager can get the midfielders or players that we do need or help to, esp from"la liga"in our case... eto maybe?

Anonymous said...

if you read what i said i didn't say the players we already have can do it,i said we got a chance of getting a few that can!

Anonymous said...

agreed. i think he can too. and i am optimistic - i think we have a bright future. i think if anyone can break the top four its us. someone i know at everton say they have a lot of internal problems and sometimes wages are paid late and players are pissed. we are best placed.

i think ramos can get them in but i think he needs to. thats all. hopefully we will see a quality holding midfielder and a left winger and a right sided player that can cross. and then all we need is a D LC as back up for both the centre backs and bale (cos gilberto is clearly short term solution). then a replacement for berba - who can f*ck off if he thinks he is bigger than spurs and doesnt realise the glory of wearing the cockrel.

singing from the same hymn sheet now mate coys

eto would be great, but im wary he may turn out to be a schevchenko or rebrov - a very expensive flop. i'll reserve judgement till/if we sign and he's played a few games

Anonymous said...

any player is a gamble i think mate, some come off others dont, there isnt a manager out there that hasnt bought a flop and that includes fergie, wenger anyone! the trick is getting more hits than misses consistently and i'm certainly encouraged by the signings weve made since JR arrived..touch wood

I have been reading a lot of the comments above and most of the names thrown around all look good to me but as Spurs fans we have read hundreds of names of unknowns and class players so would like a lot of the above.
But this thing with Berbatov I dont like the fact that he seems to be off but he has never turned round like some asses and says he wants to be out even if it does seem like it we all know what the press can be like and arnt you grateful of what he has done with us in the last couple of seasons if he wants to go elsewhere then cest la vie but no need to be bitter we will make money out of him and we got a fair few goals out of him so not bitter at all

Anonymous said...

i agree with above but also think he should be fucking grateful to us as well, maybe more so given that we were the ones that gave him the chance, platform and support to enable him to do well!he should be grateful to the players, the management and us fans rather than being a whiny little bitch!works both ways mate and he wouldnt be getting any "big" move withought our great club
tottenham til i die

Berbatov needs Keane END OF STORY!

Anonymous said...

He has used our great club ,good riddance, but please levy make sure he goes abroad or nowhere, tell him they are his options like it or lump it.

Anonymous said...

Keane is worth 10 fuctusovs

Anonymous said...

No Eto'o in the Madrid v Barca game tonight.......

Why does the prospect of eto not excite me one little bit?

Anonymous said...

There's no doubt that Eto'o is a class act, but I do have reservations. If Berba's off, we need to replace him with someone of a similar physique to complement Keane. Eto'o isn't a logical replacement for Dimitar. Same case with Villa. The liklihood is that Keano will compete with Eto'o for a place alongside Berba (if he stays, or whoever steps into his talismanic shoes). Don't really see Keano or Eto'o happy on the bench if this is the case. And Eto'o, as a high profile signing, will have great pressure on him to succeed when he may struggle in the Premier League. I'd like to see a move for Saviola (played under Ramos at Sevilla, available and less expensive, can play down the flanks) to effectively replace Defoe. And, if Berba is off I'm struggling to think of an adequate replacement (Sorry Benty!)

Soz for going on a bit!...
