Tottenham Hotspur: SWP To The Lane

I have just opened an email from a usually, unusually hot source.
My only hesistancy on this is due to the whole 'post Frank' scenario...

I am really suspicious that they would do any class of business with us at all...
So the word is that Sean Wright Phillips may well be bound........ for White Hart Lane.

After 327 false starts, it seems the man Cheatski bought purely in order to deprive the rest of the Premiership may at last get to play first team footy for some people who love football.

According to HH's latest poll, Pedersen and Drenthe are the prefered options by far... but the poll wasn't based upon who was available or willing...

As ever... you tell me. If true, good, bad or indifferent?

According to a source close to Northampton Town FC, who is a physio with close ties to Spurs. His mate, who works for the club, was asked to provide an opinion on video evidence of SWP's fitness. He told me that there was a good chance he would be going to the lane. But he is an Arsecum fan, so he could be just winding me up.

Personally I think that it would be a great thing, SWP, Lennon, Malbranque, Tarbaat all swapping positions, would scare the hell out of any defence with the front 4 that we have to choose from. It is very attacking, but you only need to play 2 of each get them to swap during the game, bring anyone of the other 4 from the bench and, well BLIMEY!

COYS!

do you by any chance share the same source, as a well known Spanish Irish, scribe .......

Anonymous said...

why do we need another right
footer? bad move, we need width!

Anonymous said...

well....just a thought, but knowing who his dad played for and being brought up that way... would he seriously want to come to us?

Anonymous said...

SWP would be a good squad player and would certainly improve the areas of the park that need improving. But he's the spawn (adopted) of a Gooner and we'd be better off with Pedersen.

Anonymous said...

i have heard its nearly a done deal known about this for a while

Anonymous said...

If (big if) true, then good cos it'll make our squad stronger, as long as we're not spending money we don't have, or money that should be ear-marked for a left-winger.
If false, I hope it's the last we hear of it.

Anonymous said...

This was news 2 weeks ago. Well done.

Anonymous said...

I dont want him. Rarely effective. Not bothered about who his dad is though. Am bothered about for the money we could probably get someone else more naturally left sided and effective. Like Sneijder.

Anonymous said...

i have to wonder if anyone who has seen SWP play really thinks he is just right footed because i remember him smacking the ball past Robbo with a great goal in the FA cup last season with what FOOT??? he might play on the right put he can also play on the left!!!
but i cant see him joining us because why did chelsea play him against that south american team???
p.s nice to see our reserves are winning 6-0 at half time lol!!!

According to my friends uncle, who is a scout, dib dib dib dob dob dob, he knew a girl who once dated a friend of the tea lady's son at Barcelona. And according to him we will be resigning the best leftie to grace the lane, Milenko Acimovic. I for one am renewing my season ticket as we speak.

8.00pm anon.

Hello retard.

Yes.

You.

I didn't run this as a global super mega exclusive.

So join in, or if, as I suspect, you're not bright enough, keep on buying The Star, but pleeeeeze go bore someone else.

Yours sincerely,

Everyone.

Harry Hotspur said...

8.06, where do I queue, mate?!

Anonymous said...

Decent player, but would always choose MG Pedersen over him. Just a decent left midfielder away from the Champions League. Look out for Taarabt to become a big star this year.

Anonymous said...

Hey Harry,

Ignore them.

Not convinced SWP will be on the way to the Lane. Hear that Chelsea don't need to sell. I also wonder about the Duff sale last season -perhaps Chelsea don't want to sell to us, because these players would certainly have enhanced our squad. So, SWP might be sold, we might be interested, but if somebody bids the same as us (and assuming its no other top 5 club) I think he'll be going there.

Anonymous said...

not swp l think we should sign joe cole some who ozzs class and we bring a lot more to the team that swp just think about cole on the left and lennon on the right that would be the best wingers in the league l also think that we should go for robben as well as back up make him a sub lol

Anonymous said...

By the way, has the Kevin (the Prince) Boateng deal fallen through? I want a King & a Prince at N17, because we lost our Queen to Arsenal on a free transfer in 2001.

CRAVEN MOREHEAD said...

certainly would'nt want him if it involves a swap deal for chimbonda
Roll on Spurs V Torino

Harry Hotspur said...

Just seen there were in fact, two 8pm's.

I was having a pop at the stupid one.

Anonymous said...

Pederson is a much better option, great crosser, solves the problem left and much more physical than SWP. We can't play SWP and Lennon together so it's just another for the bench. If we can't get Pederson surely there are better options abroad, after all we were supposedly after Pederson before he went to Blackburn.

Anonymous said...

H, don't you get all your 'exclusives' from The Star then?! ;-)

My opinion, would be a great signing. Who is to share the right wing duties with Lennon, cos he can't play all the games? We were found wanting playing people out of position last season when he was out. If, and it's a big if, we do sign him, I see it as being AS WELL AS a left winger, should we sign one. Shows our true ambitions maybe?

LOL... Yeah I'm the other 8pm, and after checking I realised it wasn't going to of been aimed at me. At first I thought you had my IP or something and were saying so because of our "little chat" last night about Our New Captain, and that deemed me a retard. LOL

Harry Hotspur said...

dannyboy, despite finding me out you're absolutely right mate :)

Be nice to envisage him knocking that round thing around with JJ - we'd look like Brazil in their heyday compared to a lot of Prem clubs, methinks.............

I'm gettin' quite emotional..

COOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

8.43 Hello mate.

Welcome back.

Anonymous said...

Routledge should share the right wing duties with Lennon this season. The boy has hardly been given a look-in so far...

Anonymous said...

I never left mate, just know when I have nothing left to say on a matter. I'm becoming good at dropping an argument. Except with gooners!!

Anonymous said...

by the way H, as an aside, where do you stand on the whole Jenas, is he a dog , debate ?!

Anonymous said...

The old adage always applies; would SWP strengthen the team and offer something different, or would he just be another signing.
To my mind, he would definately improve our wide midfield options.
So get him on-board the bus and let him reek havoc on opposition defences, just like he done to ours in the past.
The Ian Wright/Arsenal connection arguement is juvenile and doesn't warrent debate.

Anonymous said...

ffs HH - it's SHAUN wright-phillips not SEAN...you have been warned

Harry Hotspur said...

Dannyboy, I think I'm a typical Tottenham moron in many respects on JJ.

At least I admit it...

Love his work; want to deport him when it doesn't quite happen.

THAT goal against Man Ure...THAT goal in Europe, THAT goal against Le Arse.....?

I've said it before he is an indulgence and one that I embrace just like every other right thinking yid ought to.

Against THEM at home, I was so wanting him subbed because he had been awful, but by the same token, he was one of the few of us who might have f**ked'em with a moment of genius.

And he did.

What a love.

The b*st*rd!

Anonymous said...

shirly the question is, will he come to a club where he will play a similar number of games but get paid less and probably not win as much

Anonymous said...

Hello.

I think SWP can play left wing - no problem, He is quality!

AND - Its not "Pederson" Its Pedersen - one of the most common names in Norway.

COYS - from Norway ;)

Anonymous said...

you should attribute your FTL source

Anonymous said...

He must have spent two years getting here. Is Rasiak giving him a piggyback?

Not sure how video evidence points to him coming to the Lane. As for SWP, Lennon, Stted and Adel "all swapping positions" it would scare the hell out of me, never mind any opposition.

Harry Hotspur said...

A right footed left winger could be the best thing for Spurs this season.

You don't have to have a left footer on the left wing when you have a left back with great attacking skills. With Bale playing the overlap, going wide outside the defense, and SWP cutting inside with the ball on his right, the mind boggles as to how any right back could hold the line.

Couple this with Lennon on the right with Chimbonda overlapping him and any two of our four world class strikers in the centre. Well, I've been following spurs for 15 years or more and I can't remember the last time we had half the potential attacking power that we have this season.

It's a good time to be a Yid! (By which I mean a Spurs fan, not a Jew. Considering the rising tide of anti-semitism across much of the Britain and Europe. Now is a bad time to be a Yid in that respect. Just for clarification).

Anonymous said...

Is there a swap of Chimbonda for SWP in the offing? Jol said he would play players who hadn't been on international duty in the first few friendlies. Where is Chimbonda? I have had a look at all the training pictures. Where is Chimbonda? Am I paranoid and he is just injured or is he moving to Chelski?

Anonymous said...

What about Fredi Adu to play on the left, available cheap too.....?

really dont see the point in buying swp offers nothing new . . same with pedersen why do so many spurs want us to buy him??? hes good but hes not quite what i would call a tottenham player. drenthe would take us up another level and does offer a lot more hes young for one and fast got two good feet (yes i know pedersen has) and he can cross, tackle and play how many positions?? how bloody obvious a signing is he. feynoord must be paid in full!!! £16.5m for bent break the bank for drenthe too!!!

Anonymous said...

James Cutmore: I can see us signing him, and think he would be a very good addition to the 1st team / squad. I can see a swap deal with Defoe on the cards. Defoe has not long to run on his contract, Chelsea are short on strikers and have plenty of replacements for SWP. Im sure they would rather have Defoe than SWP, and i would rather have SWP with a long contract than Defoe with a short one. I personally think that he is/was a better player than lennon when he was on form for Man City, and given 1st team football on either the right or left [him and Lennon can play either wing] i think he would be an excellent addition, as well as being another England international. I dont care if his dad was an Arsenal player, worse than that was his piss poor comedy on they think its all over, that should never be lived down.

I live in Florida get to see Mls and although true the standard is nowhere near the standard of the Prem and other european leagues it does give me a chance to see whats on show. The Ado thing in imo would be a good deal for Spurs providing the price is right!1mil would be a very good bit of business.

This kid is good, but was even better 3 1/2 years ago when first he burst onto the scene but he really did need to move to a better league to continue his progression but at eighteen and he is really only eighteen he has the potential to be the bee's knee's and a great player with the right coaching and guidance which he will find in abundance at the lane

As for SWP bring him on too, he is versatile quick and who cares about his heritage he would be fantastic for Spurs but can we afford him? If we can then i am wetting myself at the thought of him doin his stuff in a lillywhite shirt!

Great site Harry keep up the good work and don't let (and they know who they are)the buggers get you down.

Looks like we're close to signing Petrov too according to The Independent. Makes sense - Dimitar's mate - left footed. Don't know much about him but if Berba reckons he's good then I'm all for it.

As for SWP - yes to back up for Lennon, but PLEASE PLEASE lets get a left footed left sider. It just makes sense. I can't wait to see Bale charging towards the byline and whipping in a cross with his left boot next season. The only time I remember anyone doing that last year was when Keano put Boularhouz on his arse...we all know what happened next...

Anonymous said...

And another thing - what do we make of this Freddie Adu malarkey?

I'm all for it. If he performs as well as Lennon playing on the right, then so be it. We're playing in Europe this year, and we need depth. It's not a question of choosing one midfielder over the other. If we can get a quality midfielder cheap, then we should do it. We need to sell some players soon!

Anonymous said...

So Harry, on the WillHeSignOn-O-Meter, where do we stand?

Anonymous said...

so what are ya saying here harry? is swp on the list or are we already advanced in negotiations?

Anonymous said...

I think it would be great if only because it would mean that Ian Wright would have to come to the Lane to support him and that would really piss him off!!! :)

Anonymous said...

How do you think SWP's dad will handle not being allowed in to watch his son play?

Think he's a good choice. Don't think we can get Drenthe and I'm concerned that no one seems to be worried that Morten Gamst Pedersen is missing an anterior cruciate vowel. GWN

Anonymous said...

With Lennon already in the squad SWP is an indulgence and we could use the cash to much better effect elsewhere. We have Routledge to cover for Lennon. He has never had a proper run in the team and its criminal how we have f****d up that lad's career.

Anonymous said...

Australia calling again, I was not impressed with Lennon this season past as I was, compared with his performances the season prior and would welcome the competition on the right with the two best right wingers in the country...if you have that who needs a left wing, a Lennon or a SWP on song can turn a game by themselves. I would love to see him come to WHL.

PS: Can anyone tell me what year we played Margate in the third round of the FA Cup, as I get older my memory does not fade of that day but I cant remeber what bloody year it was. The Margate club had put out chairs to the touch line that day and I was sitting right in front and as a little kid got to throw the ball back to an 18 year old Steve Perryman. Ahh the memories COYS

Anonymous said...

Mido looks to be on his way to Brum for a year long loan then 5 million perm if they stay up !

Source is Sky Sports.

Anonymous said...

For our Aussie friend, the Margate game was Jan 1973 and Tottenham won 6-0. That would actually have put Perryman around 21 rather than 18.

Anonymous said...

If this happens and also the signing of Petrov, then we will have the midfield and the attack to win the title. Whether we have the defence yet, I am not so sure.

Mourinho to THE TIMES:

'In this summer transfer window I had exactly what I want. Maybe there is a player that we didn’t sign because it was impossible to do it, but it was not because of money, it was just because Chelsea contacted the club and the club said, ‘Forget it’. So Chelsea closed the door and didn’t want to make more noise about it.'

WEll there was smoke and there was fire. We know it's Berbatov.

What puzzles me is that the player even considered to play that shitty football with a manager who is the only star of the team. Not good for Berba's reputation...

Anonymous said...

SWP, rumour has is it that he is a YID and has supported Spurs and idolised some of our greats since a child. Also where else would he want to go Man City, West Ham, these are not top 5 teams. Spurs are his best option at the moment.

I love chimbo think he is a good player but a swap for SWP and GJ for Chimbo at 29 for 13 - 14 million is good business in a year or 2 he will not be worth half that.Get back Luke Young maybe? we have adequate cover then.

As for the sickening left side, i think we need to concentrate on, we also need a attacking midfielder something in the Nedved mould!

Anonymous said...

What is happening with the Getto kid? is the transfer blown?

Anonymous said...

Exactly. We NEVER do business with chelsea, so why now? The only reasonable explanation is that Chimbonda is getting swapped, especially as right wing isnt exactly a position we need cover for if the rout stays. i am worried tbh =(

Anonymous said...

I think it would be an awful signing. £8m for a player who would really not improve our team (where it needs strengthening) We already have lennon, Malbranque and possibly Taarabt on the right side..We need a left sided player who does not cut in on his right foot all the time (this proved disaffective with pyo) Tottenham need width to the game, a left sided player who can get to the by line and whip a ball in. Wright-Phillips will not solve this problem that we have had for many years. Bad move jol

Anonymous said...

Although Ian Wright is a Gooner he presents a Talksport show at 4 oclock and it is superb the sound guy is A fellow Yid and has cut together a great clip of Wrighty saying "you know me I love spurs as much as anyone" so I dont think we need worry if his boy is here he can finally get out of supporting the scum

Anonymous said...

Some papers are saying SWP and Petrov!...can't see it but am gonna sit here and imagine that squad for a minute!...:)

However can't see that happening, but if it does, lets throw Curtis Davies, Boateng and Schneider in for a laugh...f*** that would be frightening!. However to be fair thats is just my imagination playing wild and to be fair, we have the most awsome squad that we have had in 20 years right now.

Anonymous said...

Out of Petrov and SWP it will probably be one or the other.

So what would we rather have?...a left sided winger and compatriot for our Berba with potential injury proneness and 28 years old or SWP, potentially one of the best right sided english wingers still only 25, but costs more money and is similar to Lennon. The practical thinking people will choose Petrov to be the final part of the jigsaw and disagree with SWP as a square peg in a round hole. Where as the proud to be English of us will be salivating at the prospect of essentially 2 Arron lennons in the team. Myself, common sense prevails and says if Petrov stays injury free and could be obtained at a decent price then that makes good sense to me, then again would not mind SWP either, as long as we sign a left footed midfielder to go with him like Schneider lol...COYS!

Anonymous said...

The left sided player Spurs need is Freddie Adu. 2 weeks ago, I was convinced he was all media hype. After watching the U20s, I'm convinced that he and Josmer Altiadore are going to be the 2 best players the US has ever produced.

Adu has grown 2-3 inches and bulked up 20 lbs since his tryout with Man U. He is a left footed replica of Aaron Lennon, with blistering pace and the ability to break anybody down off the dribble. But - he has much better vision and is a better passer and striker of the ball. He cut through very stong Brazil, Uruguay & Poland defenses with ease, and did not fall apart like Riquelme when teams tried to butcher him. The play he made to setup the winning goal against Brazil was better than any highlight Harry has shown us all summer with our possible targets. This is a video of his dominance in the Poland match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DgOkYb01ZI

Anonymous said...

NP with him coming, PROVIDED we get Diarra also as so far our first eleven is not that much better than last season as we still have our two "average" central midfielders neither of whom have any idea about protecting their defence. When you also look at our CMF assists(one JJ nil Zok ) and successful passes(none in the top 10) it says it all. We WILLNOT beat the inhabitants of camelDung stadium to fourth place unless we vastly improve our CMF pairing.

Ya that realy makes sense because Spurs wouldnt have a physio of their own and of course watching him on a video would be very reliable DOH !!!!!!!!!!!!!

so the news picking up pace...and has been for a while is a swap including Chimbo....so who the hell are we gonna put at right back? stalteri? do me a favor! or young-not so young Ifil? ohhh...thats right we got plenty of CB we can play out of position ..yeah i forgot... come on people, think about it, Jol won't flog Chimbo surely... although we are Spurs and have a habit of getting one area right and the other self destructing.. our defense was weak last season, why strengthen one side of it and weaken the the other???...

Thanks 4 ever hopeful,

You may well be right, my memory must be failing me in my old age, I could have sworn the announcer before the game said it was his 18th birthday.
One thing I do remember was coming down stairs in Tottenham white and blue with scarfs, rossettes, the whole bloody thing. My dad took one look at me and told me to take it all off as I had to support Margate...needless to say I didn't and he never tried to get between me and Spurs again.

Hello Lee,
I was born in Ramsgate in 64 and went to St Gregory's Primary and then on to Dane Court.
Now living in Australia and a life long Spurs fan with Margate filling in the gaps between visits to WHL.
