Tottenham Hotspur € 7.4 Million Bid Accepted

Well here he is folks, Kevin Prince Boateng.

According to tonight's edition of 'The Hamburg Evening Paper' newspaper, Hertha Berlin have accepted a Tottenham bid of € 7.4 million.

All that remains are the settling of terms between the player and his almost certain new club.

Young Kev has been quoted as saying he dreams not of Jeannie, but Premiership footy. That was after our old pals at Sevilla would only russel up € 5 million, however...
Harry's Willhesignometer is pointing to about 6.5 on this one.

From what I've read and seen of The Artist Currently Known as Kevin, he looks a good 'un. But do we really need another central midfielder? Could he spell the end for JJ?

Do we need another CM - Yes. Does this spell the end for JJ - No.
If Murphy and Ghaly go or even if they dont theres nothing wrong with signing good players. Jol is a JJ fan and he is very important to us. Needs to improve but I think he will.
HH - What Fantasy League is that code for?

Wont spell the end of JJ, more of a player in the carrick mould, good passer, breaks up play, but has more bite, and he's great in the tackle. Probably be looking to rival Zokora to partner JJ.

From what I've heard he's a big and strong mid, who dominates the centre with grit and toughness. If he can produce this in the premiership, then this will be a great signing because it's a role we've lacked for years.

I really don't mind if it signals the replacement of Jenas or Zokora, simply because if Jol likes him enough to buy then surely that means he's better than the player in that position. And would we really suffer with out one of Jenas' freekicks out of the ground or one of Zokora's 60 yard runs that look genious until he runs face first into a defender anyway? Neither of them scream out to me as top 4 players yet IMO

Hopefully this one won't take as long as Bent/Kaboul, otherwise I may as well hibernate for a month until I see it on the official webby...

Good homework, again Harold.

didnt we already know this like on thursday

I like Jenas, but he needs to do much better than he has done. Every time I see him knock a ball one side and gas past the other to beat a player with ease I scream at the telly 'why don't you do that all the time?!' And I'm convinced Zakora is the future.

I don't think Ghaly has done enough to warrant staying. I liked the look of him but I think we'll see an Egyptian exodus with him and Mido moving on. As for Murphy, I swear I saw him on the Masters Football the other day. He is both fat and old.

Just joined up on the old fantasy league. I trust everyone else follows the rule of absolutely NO gooner scum players allowed?

Stop pissin on our colours!

I'm sick and tired of people knowing what's best for our club! We don't! I've supported Spurs for ages, and todays team is one of the best I've seen! I'm fucking proud of the lads. Their bleeding for the jersey! We have two fifth places the last two years. They are great. The team is good. If they don't buy any new players, that's okay. Cause the team is great at the moment. Zokora is getting better and better, and Tarabt will be a ace on the left. So shut the fuck up with all youre whining. support the team, or get lost! Support the lads, or get lost. All of them are doing a fantastic job!

Of course you need a new cf, Jenass is pathetic...and his head is too small.

10.45, you are so right.

I'm tired of all these fools out there who are always whinging about something. Midway through last season, it was Martin Jol's head that some of these "fans" are screaming for.

Now our highest goal-scoring midfielder is coming under the gaze of these fair-weather fans. Next Zokora, who's only been here a season and had to shake off the effects of malaria as well as playing in a different style league is next.

Some of these so-called fans are absolutely pathetic, and it does beg the question of whether they have seen a Spurs game in their lives.

These fans are never happy unless they have something to whinge about, and if they had their way, there would be no stability at all at Spurs. We have had nearly 20 years of uncertaintay, and now the boat isn't being rocked every three years and we are actually moving in the right direction, these fans are still not happy!

It does beggar belief, really.

Harry, have you got anything on this Leeds chap Rose?? Does we play on the left?

Dudes, am a spurs fan in South Africa. Have been for more than 20 yrs, from BBC sportworld on Saturday to now when we see spurs live every week on telly (yes!).
There is no doubt we are in a good place. We look physically stronger than in recent years with good pace throughout the team. Most important however, is the structured approach to the team on the field - its very clear what everybody's job is, and except for some set piece defending and the need to close people down when they're shooting from distance, we're very effective as a unit. This is the foundation for the Jol era, a big part of that has been team mentality too. Our central midfield could have done with someone like Nigel Reo-Coker, K-P Boateng seems like the same kind of player, so I'd be happy with that. Taarabt is obviously special. Jol is no fool. He's kept him hungry, on load to prove himself and then the pressure to perform suddenly from his preseasson invovlement with the team.

Am looking forward to seeing them play here in South Africa next week.
Besides a recent tour under Hoddle, Spurs came here in 81/2 with Man Ushited and 'Pool. Hoddle, Ardiles et al. But even further back they came here in 1962 with the double winning side and a new signing called Jimmy Greaves. Who famously broke the net in a game at Kings Park with a rocket of a shot.
Am looking forward to seeing the boys play Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates - the 2 biggest clubs in South Africa. I'll admit to having divided loyalities, but I hope this team can be a great advert for the Tottenham way. If in 2-3 years, we challenge for the title, we do it as Danny says 'The greatest fallacy that had arisen is that the game is about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory." On that note, if he plays, Adel Taarabt will wow the South African crowd, on his way to becoming a superstar in the Premiership, and eventually in world football. I've been studying this game for too long not too know the real thing when I see it.

ffs

i bet you were all slating jenas when he scored the last minute winner aginst the goons and set up daws for the cheatski winner ?!
inconsistent. if he gets rid of that from his game, which he will, watch him go.
future captain in my opinion. the guy is quality. needs to be a big season for him coming up.

COYS

Why do certain idiots say "support the lads or get lost". We do you fucking twat! We don't have to agree with every signing or like every player you do! Forums etc are for debate, if you don't like it then switch off your fucking PC you dickhead!

has anyone ever heard of him, another nobody bought for a silly price, spurs had a chance to grab 4th spot 07/08 but with these buys, lucky to get into europe next season,& we all know what that means!!!
berba will go to man utd,hes told family he has to give it a go @ spurs, but no champs lge ,hes gone.

If Jol wants to strengthen the squad, let him. I am sure he knows better than you. Staying static wont get us no where, is that what you want???

i ll be pleased if we sign this prince chap , it hasnt happened yet , remember zokora is away playing in the african cup later in the year so im sure prince will get a few games plus alowed time to settle in. as for jenus considering he missed a chunk of last seasen i think hes a starter all the time only my op but as stated above he has scored on big ocaisions for us OT a couple of years back etc, isnt he our highest scoring midfielder ? any how competition for places in the team can only be a good thing , in jol i trust, time to get rid of some fringe players as well.

Anonymous said...

What does boateng give us that huddlestone and zokora don't already? Someone please enlighten me.

Anonymous said...

We would badly miss Jenas's energy and box to box play if he left. If this new arrival is gonna signal the end for anybody it will be the end of Huddlestone, who was found badly wanting in the euro U21.

harry, I think 8.34 wanted to know which website?
I am guessing its http://fantasy.premierleague.com/

I agree with the dude who's slating all the fair weather fans!
when are you gonna realise that JJ and Zokora are top quality players? they are soon to be top class, why would Sevilla be after Zokora if they didnt think he was any good? FFS just start supporting the team! We are a class act compared too half the shite we see in the EPL! BMJ is the man to lead us to Glory! COYS!

By 'everybody', I presume you mean all the people in your adult literacy class.

I partly agree with the people saying Zokora and JJ are class acts, its true, they are, they wouldnt be playing for Spurs (one of the biggest known teams in the world) if they wasnt any good.

BUT, I dont think JJ compares to the likes of the midfield of the top 4, Lampard/Ballack/Essien, Carrick/Scholes/Hargreaves, Xabi Alonso/Mascherano/Gerrard, Gilberto/Fabregas/Rosicky.

I dont see him as top 4 quality, whereas with Zokora, I think his season will greatly improve this time round, I can see him becoming a top 4 quality Champions League player.

Most teams have 3 quality midfielders who can play in the center, do we? no, Taraabt will be very good but he needs more time. I dont think Huddlestone is the player we hoped he would be, in the time that Jol has put his faith in him his movement off the ball and up and down the pitch hasnt really improved, he wont be as good as Carrick.

I wouldnt mind seeing us bring in Boateng this year, but I'm debating it, as depending on the outcome of next season and where we finish, I'd like us to spend big on a top central midfielder.

jj has 2 stay!!! his energy and the amount of ground he covers every match is up there with the best of them.he also scored some very important goals this season like arsenal in the last minute, eveton away, again in the last minute. we must also remember he is still young and has potential to get better

Anonymous said...

It does disappoint me when you try to have a debate about football and illiterate fools clutter up the discussion board...there's a difference between debating the comings and goings at the club you love and moaning about it.

Personally I'm loving this policy of buying up promising youngsters. Newcastle did it a few years back (Jenas from Forest etc.), and were they not a club that loves to press the self destruct button every couple of years it would have worked for them.

If we've got the cash, get 'em in I say. As for Danny Rose, he's scoring goals at England U-17 level and was on the verge of the first team at Leeds last season. Shame, maybe if Wise had played him they wouldn't be in League One now.

I think we all agree that there is a lot of dead wood around we need to get rid of though. Murphy, Gardner, Ghaly and Mido have no place in a top 4 side...

Anonymous said...

First thing that strikes me is his resemblance to a black version of Steven Gerrard. Now if he plays anything like him, then he will be the icing on a very strong squad.

However hope the rumours of his injury proneness are wrong as we don't need a 5 million crock.

Dont know why people are getting defensive about Jenas and Zokora, when they are not even mentioned in the article, but while we're on the subject, I do not see this as a threat, but another great addition/option just like the Bent and Kaboul signings. I've said it before, a champions league quality side need several options in each department to cut the mustard and a central midfield containing Boateng, Zokora, Jenas, Thud and Teemu is exactly what we need.

funny type!
you know enough of Berba's family, it seems, to know he'll go next year, considering no Champions league, etc.
but you don't know that he cannot go to United because Tevez is already there.
what an idiot!

othello - you are totally correct in everything you have said. Some people have very short memories and forget how utterly abysmal Spurs have been pre Levy/Jol. Things now are not perfect but OMG we have improved massively.

Many people see only the bad in people - JJ is an easy target because he is never going to be a stand out player BUT he makes a huge contribution to the team & is our top scoring midfielder. He can improve but most people do not acknowledge that, they just slag him off!

I think alot of proper fans (at matches) have become a little bit negative after years of disappointment and some armchair fans just want instant success. These things take time and over time we have steadily improved.

It always makes me last when people like Newcastle fans think that they can suddenly close the gap and break the top 4 after seasons of rubbish. Spurs have proven that it takes an awful lot to acheive that break through while managing Cup competitions at the same time.

CENTRE MIDFIELD-NO WAY!!!

winger is what we need, unless we get rid of murphy or ghaly a centre of midfield is last on our mind. Anyway i personally quite like ghaly as a player but he is a traitor we should of cancelled his contract the moment he threw off his shirt. he ort to at least get fined by the club. its a disgrace he aint been punished!
