It's All About Knocking Tottenham Hotspur Out...

Sunday?

Fulham bloody Fulham.

Oh to be in the luxurious position of Chris Coleman. Cornerman of a journeyman fighter, but one that may not just bloody Tottenham's nose , but put them on the canvas for a count of eight.

Sunday is all about knocking Spurs out, rather than Fulham's natural progression in this tournament.

Jol's Premiership campaign has retreated into a damage limitation exercise. The Lane's fortress rating has slipped from it's 'Cushty' rating to DEFCON 3 and away games are currently less fun than being trapped in a (insert anything) with Jade Goody's mother.

Fortune has added to the quite decent run in the UEFA Cup, but for all BMJ's cool remarks after our last dull, dull, dull trip to Craven Cottage, Tottenham absolutely need to redeem themselves this weekend.

What's the master plan, Harry? I hear you wisper, beg and cry.....?

Free flowing, fast attacking football.

I really don't care if we win 5- 4. But I insist upon a win!

What I cannot endure is another lacklustre display where 'luck' is cited as a significant factor in our failure to overwhelm a fundamentally lesser side.

Look, we love you, but get stuck in and do this lot, will you?

Jol was unwilling to do this when 2-0 up against Arsenal at home, I don't think he will do it when the score is 0-0 away

I hope we play a team of cloggers and with Defoe banned, would like to see Mido and Berbatov up front and Dawson made captain for the day. Hudds and Ghaly in the middle Lennon and Malbranque and usual back 5. come on spurs - show some sodding passion tomorrow.
What odds Malbranque scoring the winner ?!

I want Routledge back.

BMJ still needs time but as a very seasoned yid i do find my self questioning BMJ tactics sometimes...of course he does have a set of steel ones but its not all about the opening 25 mins its about 90 mins...we wasted the january window as its clear to me that we needed a decent central defender and a consistent left back. Effort is not the problem but you do feel that key areas are still weak even though Malbranque is starting to fill the left mid field role....WE SHOULD ALL RALLY around the team...we are known as a fickle bunch and think that should also be changed through this season.

Huddlestone and Ghaly in the middle..now that actualy hits the nail on the head.

Someone thank god noticed Jols biggest downfall this season..Zokora!!

Huddlestone and Ghaly or Huddlestone and Malbranque ,Huddlestone and Jenas anything, anyone, any pairing but Zokora..Not til he realises that in EPL you have app. 2 seconds to receive the ball and release it and you dont have the luxury of turning around yourself and when you tackle you leave your mark on opposition player, set fear in them so they respect you..all those things that Jol failed to make Zokora see or Jol failed to se himself so far.

Yes Huddlestone to control the midfield and sit in front of Captain Dawson (he captained Forest and England U-21s)alongside Jenas,Ghaly,Malbranque etc. preferably Jenas simply because of his pace and his height which might be very useful against dead ball merchants Fulham.

But knowing Jol he will probably field the shortest and physicaly weakest team that he has got and he wont play Mido to put pressure on opposition central defenders and make it difficult for them, let Berbatov have a free role behind Mido and let their midfield be occupied with defendind rather than attacking and use Jenas`s late runs and pace to unsettle their midfield and stretch the game by telling Chimbonda and Lennon to combine together overlapping each other which will also cripple Fulhams left wing.

And play Assou Ekotto as a winger for a change in front of Lee he is naturaly left footed and quick i think he is the best possible left winger we have..another ting that Jol failed to see...if Ekotto is not a very good defender try to convert him into a left winger because we all know that he can get passed people ,he has got tha pace to do so ..Why not use him instead of playing malbranque there and limit Malbranques ability by confining him into that left hand corner? He is still cutting into his right foot anyway.

Robinson,Chimbonda,Dawson,Gardner,Lee,Lennon,Huddlestone,Jenas,Ekotto,Mido,Berbatov..Go for it JOl..show that you are brave enough to tell your players to go out to win a game.

I agree with your take on Zokora. He is NOT cutting the Premiership mustard. I don't know if it's tactics and he doesn't know what he's supposed to be doing or if he's just plain out of sync.

Ekotto as a winger? Mmmmn....

Definitely Lennon and Chimbonda overlapping constitute a formidable attack route.

Everyone is talking up Dawson for captain.

AND SO AM I.

for all of you saying jenas should play today....he cant!!!! he has had 5 yellow cards so misses the match. JJ himself said that on soccer am yesterday. and harry i would quite happily marry jade goodys mum if it meant we started to win away and got back into a league position that this club should be at.

Anonymous said...

If no JJ then Ghaly is the best possible option at least he is physicaly stronger than anyone else that we have.

We have all seen how useful he was when Jol put him into the middle of the park and took Zokora off.All of a sudden we looked a very good team with Ghaly and Huddlestone in the middle and created chances and even put United under presure for a while.

Ghaly and Hudd. will do for me.

well, h and mate yids, it looks like Jol got the grip FINALLY! ( hope there's no going backwards from now on).
Congrats are in order to everyone: today I saw a team, I saw a manager, I saw a captain and I saw a star, great, great Berba, he's got over the away factor and scored a superb brace in 13 minutes! I'm going out to celebrate. We want both cups this year. No excuses. Next year we'll talk about the Prem.

Now THAT is Audere-est-facere!

That's the kind of form that beat Chelsea, that got us the UEFA cup, that gave us 4th place for 4 months last season. Much more of that please!

Keane was pretty awesome today. Robbo performed admirably and is nearly back to his best. Lennon impressed me with his constant hard work and as for Berbatov.. he should be aiming for the golden boot next season, no question.

Anonymous said...

Well said. Whilst we DID 'leave the door open' for a better side between the first and second goal, we actually fought and won.

Berbatov IS absolute WHL class and Keane rallied the lads from start to finish.

Dawson was a fighter and Pascal was tireless.

Congratulations Anon. 10:43!

Your pledge to marry jade goody's mum has done the trick! As long as you are good to your word and walk down the aisle we are guaranteed a result this season.

Well done Mate, we are all behind you!!

Anonymous said...

Could it be due to the colour of the shirt?

We were lucky that Robbo keep us in the game at 1-0. Tainio and Zokora are still not good enough. They need to be more aggressive and control the ball more.

Hotspurs!!!

Let's congratulate Jol. For me one result does not change too much but he sent out a team to do a job and do a job they did.

Whether route one football is the long term solution is another matter, to say nothing of a midfield pairing that cannot pass over 15 yards (I know - Taino cannot pass at all) but they did show a lot of spirit, which is all that most of us were asking for and they took full advantage of playing against a central defensive partnership that looked as if they were both hung over.

If they can use this result as a catalyst for the rest of the season rather than a blueprint for ongoing success then we might just make some progress. I guess we will know more on Wednesday night.
