Tottenham Hotspur Prefer Handbags Over Oranges At Half Time

Nicky Butt may be a toad faced ginger monkey eared runt, but he leaves London tonight with three points and the last laugh.

The lack of decorum involving Pascal Chimbonda was frankly nothing to be proud of. I'm sure that many of us would relish the opportunity to slap Butt, however doing it whilst wearing the club's shirt was stupid, divisive behavior.

Spurs played some simply breathtaking football. Robinson's bungle was the cause of Huntingdon's success. Another fiasco with England's No1's DNA all over it.

Defoe's goal was neat, although a little bit offside. Defoe haters everywhere take note. This boy is the real deal. He span out of tackles, tracked back and fired at will. Another gutsy performance which admittedly lacked more goals, but didn't lack effort.

Berbatov fell over a good bit, but his movement, touch and goal were all inspired.

Melbranque's contribution in the first half was excellent. Again. He faded in the second and Jol was too slow to replace him with Keane.

Huddlestone was impressive and as Steed waned, Tom edged forward and stroked the ball around with confidence.

Lennon was feisty and menaced off the wing into all sorts of space. He was guilty of not looking up once or twice, but when you're travelling at 300 mph I guess that can happen.

Newcastle were only lucky Tottenham didn't make more of their 327,000 attacks on the thin skinned Given. They weathered the storm and running past the abandoned kitchen sinks Tottenham had relentlessly thrown at them, then they did what they do and let Martins unleash an exocet missile from his boot to stop the happy Hotspur hearts dead.

Dawson for England.

The Toons defence was absoloutley awful, there Midfield was not great, yet they still beat us. Tainio was crap, Davenport and Pyo were s**t, im actually embarrased right now, what the hell are the Arsenal kids guna do to us!!!

Anonymous said...

Given, Martins and Dyer are the only decent Newcastle players and we cant beat them home or away, im disgusted with the players and MJ.

I agree Davenport and Tainio were crap, although Pyo has never been great and i thought had a good game by his standards!!

this player was great, that player was brilliant, we still sodding lost!
give me a team of cloggers and 3 points any day. lennon is not a patch on last season - he is missing carrick more than most.
bench robbo the fat bastard - how many times did he give the ball straight to given? how is he still captain???
hudds needs a rest - too much is being asked of him.
defoe and berbs quality, but thats where it stops.
mid table mediocrity here we come.
disgraceful.

Get a grip. Harry is right that we played some triffic footy today and I would rather watch us lose 2-3 and play like that than us win 1-0. You can slag me all you want, but I love jol and he he loves me!!!

ud rather watch us lose 3 - 2 than win 1 - 0 ? knob

I don't know about Defoe being offside. That idiot Andy Gray ranted and raved about Defoe being in front of the ball when the rule actually is being in front of the last defender, which arguably he was not (unlike the Arsenal player at the Emirates where Gray wrongly said it was not offside)

10:04 either a Gooner or knobhead. Jol gave credit to Newcastle for scoring 3 at the Lane; it's really not that difficult these days, Martin, given how rubbish Pieboy Robbo is and how porous the defence has been without Ledley.

yeah can really see MJ's coaching paying off now, cant beleive people come on here an defend him ,he has the most talented squad weve had in years more financial support than any spurs manager i can remember and yet we play like that ,and its not a one off more the norm for us now ,the guy looks out of his depth and lost for ideas most of the time his substitutions are dodgy at best and his tactical genius start and end with little and large.he might be a nice guy but nice wont win anything !

JOL OUT

no point creating 327,000 attacks if you only score 2. shocking.
hurry up back king.

I'm convinced most of these comments are written by gooners, cos they show that they understand nothing about football and seem intent on demoralising Spurs fans!!! Good try shitheads but i actually know football... and if we play like that every week in terms of creating chances we will get into the Champions League and will annihilate the idiots down the Arse reserves or full team!!!

Well said.

ok harry defoefan, his goal was offside today and also against southend.
thankgoodness berbs scored at last to see if he gets back on his confidence for the next battles.
24 shots only 2 in, this is a training and a psychological problem that has to be solved by the coach, unfortunately yes, i'm sorry, but Jol is crap!

jol is crap and so is defoe, so what is your plan???????????????

ummmm u should read up on the offside rule, by FIFA instructions give the advantage to the attacking side, the English FA added the word daylight... he was onside... Solano handballed it (arm to ball), penalty, but thats not the point... what a great game!!! Our best game of the season.

Anyone here, do you remember last time Robinson actually made a save? Because I can't. Chimbonda and Lee did well, Davenport had a good game, his best so far. And apart from Dawson, maybe being able to block Martins shot, he had a good game. The midfied fail to come back and defend, which is what we miss from Jenas. But, the main blame, once again, and once again against Newcastle, will have to be Paul Robinson. Since the England blunder, whats happened to him? he simply watches the ball go by, and the 13 league games without a clean sheet reflect this. Does anyone here call for Cerny or the new keeper???

Such short memories, anyone remember when we beat Chelsea... and anyone remember when we shoved 5 past Charlton, should i go on or should u c a memory specialist, and if you cant remember the last world class save that Robbo made mate, well... little clue, very recently...

Anonymous said...

ok we beat Chelsea, they are a great side, and the whole Spurs team deserve credit for that. The Charlton game, if you remember the goal they scored, there was a defensive error there, Robbo could have called it. 3 goals against Newcastle at st James's, 2 of those goals were Robinsons fault. The way Given played, and James for Portsmouth, we need Robinson to be like that again, because today the team played well. Don't forget Robinson kicking it to Given all the time and kicking it off a lot

At last someone mentions the blatant handball from the cheat Solano.

I dont think its realised though, that we are a mid-table team. Last year was a one off, the teams around us did bad, West ham finished in the top half.
We expect too much of the boys, look at the last 10 seasons, last season was the best and we cant expect that every year. so, 6th (which is probably the highest place we could finish) or final of Carling Cup, and Final of UEFA, which is more probable???

We were rubbish are the back, Davenport has improved but is still not good enough at this level of football.

Tainio is a waste of space, and was our weak link - he always is. He cannot stay fit. We should off load him and buy a much better central midfielder, and while we are at it a left winger. Too many players at our club who are just not good enough, face facts!!!!

If not, we will continue to be pretenders for the top six!!!

Your problem is your midfield, it`s like space, I`m trying to find intelligence but it`s not there...

You have a Finn and a clumsy giant with two left feet and an Ivorian that misses his friends (in Arsenal) and not to forget Jenas, the fantastic Jenas that will give you CL-footie....do you believe in Santa?

You need players like Fabregas, Rosicky and Hleb and you know it, but DO YOU THINK JOL WILL EVER UNDERSTAND?

Jol is making Keane unhappy and a Keane in good form is the only player in your present squad with the personality to change things....he might leave and that`s thanks to Jol!

Don`t worry, Arsene will give you a chance playing the teenagers, let`s see if you can take it?

defoe is not crap but he's overrated, Jol yes, he's the crap we don't need. what to do? get another boss and quickly. is that so hard to understand? Jol had all the chances and we're going down the drain.
or would you rather we lose everything this year? it's not hard as things are going right now!

Keane is your best player, he`s on the bench!!!??

Is Jol smart, nah.....

@ RR which field of pro football r yr credentials??? Whom do you coach or scout for? or r u just another opinionated "human"... 2 a dozen my friend, i certainly wouldnt employ you to clean my toilet...

I scout for Arsenal in France...:)
No one would like to do THAT....:)

Read your post earlier about daylight and handball, pls let your mum drive you from now, you`re dangerous out there (in the traffic)..:)

yr a lying bastard too RR, now go and play with yr own opinionated kind, muppet.

Anonymous said...

No, I`ll stay here with you cos you`re not feeling good...

Doublevision makes it hard to see your own player in offside-positions, eh..

And easy to see handball when the arm is so close to the body as it was, not a pen in any refs book...

You need new glasses. :)

what the hell am I reading?

If you "spurs" fans knew anything it's surely that MJ is the best manager we've had for f'kin ages. 24 chances = 2 goals... would you rather we lost 2-3 but could only create 2 chances the whole game? Idiots.

Tottenham attacking were brilliant today. Unfortunatly for us, so was Shay Given, simple as that. The only reason we lost is the aforementioned keeper, that we're missing King and Pyo needs replacing asap.

So Robbo's made a couple of mistakes recently.. so did Defoe a while back but look at him now. I didn't think the first goal was PR's fault, defence (Davenport?) should have been better at tackling.

Please HH has raised the Robinson issue. He has been way below par all season and was at fault for the first goal. Also what's all this stupid quick kicking upfield. We are not about route one football like that. Must be Jol's influence.

Don't agree though about Malbranque. He set up the two goals so why he was taken off is a mystery to me. Jol again. Taino was absolutely terrible. His only positive contribution was a recovery tackle after he had given the ball away in the first place and he was badly at fault on the winning goal. Like Ziegler he is no more than a Championship player.

Do't agree about Huddlestone either. I say again, he is being overplayed. Yesyerday he looked tired and was way too casual ost of the time. Yes it was a precision pass wide in the lead up to the Defoe goal but he made little other attacking moves. Whilst he exists in the Carrick comfort zone and Tainio barely treads water it is little wonder we cannot score enough goals to kill a game cos we are only effectively attacking with four players and one of those (Lennon)has only just come back from injury and played like it yesterday.

Positives? Y P Lee has been a revelation since he came back into the side.

I would give Hudd a rest, Tainio a four month sabbattical, Murphy a train ticket anywhere. Zokora now needs to stand up and show us he is the somewhere near as good as the hype when we signed him.

And take that bloody armband off Robinson.

what a lot of you are forgetting is before MJ we were shit for 10 yrs! He has built a team which by most opinions excepts as the 5th best team in the country, we have come along way, and yes of course hes spent money and thats clearly made impact. we have a team and system capable of scoring lots of goals and he cant help players missing glorious chances like we had yesterday from players who CAN score them. Everyone who watched the game knows if the players had taken their clear cut chances we could have won 5,6,7 or even 8-1, we created that from our football and thats how much better we were than them. then you would be saying how great we are, wheras the team play would have been the same!! The set up and future looks bright for spurs, were on the upward. getting rid of the manager would be a huge step backwards, this club has needed stabilty for a long time. 3, 4 years ago we were just avoiding relagation, what do you expect us to win the fucking league, it doesnt work like that! I remember well last season playing pompey at the lane we went a goal down, and the lane erupted by encouraging the team to fight back, you could see the reaction from the players, they feed of the optimism and belief and we won 3-1. Its confidence, we can affect a players confidence, shouting hes shit, or the dogs bollocks can influence his shot decisions, well, every decision, a player with confidence doesnt think he just does the right thing 9/10. and the players we have are quality players. weather you think the players should need this, your probably right, they shouldnt, but it DOES make a difference, not everyone can be as strong minded and some need praise and encouragement to perform to their highest level, with our crowd at the lane we are one of the best supported clubs and im very proud of that, we just need to make full use of it to make it an advantage over other teams! you start moaning like a lot of us do and you see heads down. start getting behind the boys and see the difference it makes!!! CONFIDENCE is everything and we can give our players that!! If we were not in good standings i wouldnt try to kid you, but with what MJ is setting in place we could be serious challengers and one of europes big teams in the next 5-10 years, its a marathon building for the future not a sprint. saying all this some of the moany comments are just, but your stupid if you believe the future is not bright, i mean c'mon even you doubters are only complaining about 1 or 2 players who you think are not up to it, but these are fringe players anyway, your forgetting we used to have only 1 or 2 good players!!!!!!!
