Spurs Exit: A Good Riddance To Davids?

' Baby it's cold outside...' Last kick of the ball for The Davids.

I confess to feeling pretty ambivalent towards the old campaigner's exit.

Edgar was a pedigree chum, but the pitbull went from being man's best friend to chewing the furniture and leaving a puddle on our favourite rug when we were out.

For all the strength and bite he certainly gave to a young squad, much of the good was taken out of his stay with performances that looked less Predator and more Swedish chef. Errant passes, flapping runs and once injured, his pace and timing were noticably decreased.

His early contributions were in part invaluable, but we all start looking at what's going out when what's coming in starts to subside. Jol was responsible for selecting him beyond his play by date, but it was Edgar, no one else that made us want 40,000 reasons a week to keep him on.

The reported histrionics with Jol aren't good publicity for the club. I'd rather remember him casually upending Ray Parlour last season instead.

couldnt agree more. when your on the money that the pitbull was on you should understand and be comfortable with the fact that what you are doing has to be good for the team as a collective unit not just look at what an individual gets out of the team. Somehow those bolshoviks down the west side have managed to teach their players that fact so y cant edgar understand this... A champion team will always beat a team of champions. Edgar you would do well to remember this! i still loves ya just the same but it wont help your cause doing what you have done...

to right, in my eyes he should have gone they day he got here, i haven't see him play a game where he looks with it, since he first joined.
Just wondering what they thought when they bought him in, help with training the yougsters.

As long as he's not replaced by another 17 year old, Its great building for the future but the longer that takes the further behind we'll get on the champions league teams'

Bit harsh that Harry, it could easily be argued that Edgar got us into the UEFA Cup, brought on Thudd and others, and as he came on a free his overall costings of £2,600,000 per year are a bargain given what he has contributed, he is leaving at the right time, amnd deserves more than what you are giving...

Harsh in places...

He did make a great contribution and I was a noisy supporter, especially after he tried to come back too soon (see They Shoot Horses Don't They?) but week in week out serving up the of the kind of performances I described tend to tarnish the memory.

I admit I don't know what went on in training, but it does appear to be the case that he's stropped off and that's bad form.

Came on a free and rightly so. Noones bigger than the club.

He had a positive influence last year and was not as effective this year and has been found lacking.
A big fan of the player but sadly not the same player as 10 years ago.

Thanks edgar Davids for playing your bit. Good luck at Ajax.

Davids is gone. Mido will play tomorrow night and then sign with Man. City before midnight. Berbs is on the mend but not yet for MU. Any more news, HH?

I heard Davids and MJ had a "discussion" on the training pitch that started in English but ended up being shouted in Dutch, wouldn't mind seeing that on youtube....
