Berbatov Cocktail: Two Parts Keane, Two Parts Lennon. Serve Chilled...

Last night, Robbie Keane simultaneously reminded White Hart Lane and Steve Staunton what a committed and truly talented play maker he is. Whilst the jet heeled Aaron Lennon and the ravenous Defoe gave us another glimpse of the new dawn of English Internationals that threaten to ignite for McClaren in Euro 2008.

Elsewhere, Jenas has perhaps bought himself more time and Davids put in another mixed performance which probably just edged into the positive.

I'm delighted with the win, but make no mistake, Sheffield are no Bolton - but crucially, we were 278 times better than we were last time out...

Jenas looked a hellofva more into it tonight and the finish on the goal was great.

Really want to see a Defoe goal soon!

Great title. And wasn't Robbie quality? Didn't recover from hoofing half the turf as well as the ball on that corner, but nevertheless, a credit.

Now we can all calm down and put things into perspective. BECAUSE if we beat Everton on Saturday and at least nick a draw against the Mancs the following Saturday, would mean we will be on exactly the same points total as our first 4 games last season...how about that?...that would well do me. ALSO thanks god no banana skin result tonite, a bad result would have seriously panicked everyone including MJ me thinks. But we put away a relegation favourite at home, as we did last year by mostly putting away the games we should. I guess we need to now keep beating the sides we should and to build on trying to obtain good results against the top 4 sides plus Bolton! Also shows how the creativity and passion of Keane is so important to us more than ever. Also like Tainio in the team and think in the near future Zokora will make a very good replacement for Davids. Not too mention tinely and great contributions by our new legend in the making Berby and little Azza Lenno. Looks like Defoe might have to work hard to displace Keano from the team now, but hey thats great healthy competition.

We needed that reality check against Bolton, as the pre-season build up was giving us all unrealistic expectations. The new signings, the unbeaten friendlies, even the general media was talking us up.

We still have a long way to go and could face a battle for top six place with other clubs that have spent well recently.

I just hope that our fans get behind the players more. The last three days, after getting mugged by Bolton (again) produced a number of silly attacks by some fans on players such as Jenas, Davids and others.

Jenas answered his critics with a goal and needs to make this the year when he matures. By all accounts Davids played very well - as he usually does.

I feel that this season our two most important and influential players will be King and Keane. Robbie showed us last season how he can play with such passion - I really don't want to see him spending much time on the bench any more. He is going to be the key to opening those five man defences we will face so often this season.

Some good performances last night, Davids looking tigerish in the centre, Jenas taking more responsibility on the ball, Keane always looking for the ball, (he should've scored too) Lennon flying on the right and left and Tainio giving us glimpses of the player we're all beginning to love down at the lane.

The fullbacks played well too, BAE making some strong challenges and trying to get forward as was Lee on the opposite side.
It ended up being a bit of a stroll, but full credit to Sheff Utd, they didn't come to stifle the game they tried to play football and move the ball around but lacked any real cutting edge.
We'll face stiffer competition at the weekend but it's nice to get the first points on the board and the first goals for Berbs, who also played well.

For the people who think we "produce attacks on players" here, come one people!...this is a football blog, we are simply discussing tactics and players. Otherwise what else do you want us to discuss about THFC?...whether the club restaurant should sell prawn sandwiches or whether they should sell pies?...come on, the game is all about opinions and we are simply just all sharing ours and should not be telling fellow supporters not to have an opinion, because that is wrong. It would be also wrong if you would actually go to a players house and and throw a brick through his window or even shout abuse at a player at a match...then that is abuse and is wrong! but just sharing opinions on blogs meant for footballing opinions of the spurs supporting public...come on man its a free world, we are not robots and are all allowed our own opinions...not "abuse", but "opinions", so get over it!
